CNN At a rally in Conroe, Texas, Saturday night, Trump, without naming them, railed against Willis plus New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr., who are investigating his business empire, calling them "racists." The three are Black. Trump provided no evidence of racial discrimination. "These prosecutors are vicious, horrible people. They're racists and they're very sick -- they're mentally sick," he said. "They're going after me without any protection of my rights from the Supreme Court or most other courts.

Lost for words.

TRUMP’S CLAIM OF WINNING PRESIDENCY TWICE DISQUALIFIES HIM FROM RUNNING AGAIN, EXPERTS SAY

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In a major setback for the former President, constitutional-law experts have determined that Donald J. Trump’s claim of having won the Presidency twice disqualifies him from ever running again.

At a convention of constitutional scholars over the weekend, more than four hundred experts unanimously agreed that Trump’s declaration of two White House victories means that he has reached the Presidential term limit as defined by the Twenty-second Amendment.

“The Twenty-second Amendment clearly states, ‘No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice,’ ” Davis Logsdon, a professor of constitutional law at the University of Minnesota, said. “Since Trump claims that he was elected for a second time in 2020, he has eliminated himself from any future White House bid.”

“Frankly, I’m surprised that the people on his legal team, like Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani, didn’t look into this,” he said.

In a sharply worded statement from Mara-Logo, Trump lashed out at the authors of the Twenty-second Amendment. “The people who wrote that amendment did a terrible job and should be locked up,” he said.

Destroying the evidence was obviously an ingrained habit ...  🙃

The Washington Post - Some records sent to Jan. 6 committee were torn up, taped back together - mirroring a Trump habit

today

When the National Archives and Records Administration handed over a trove of documents to the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection, some of the Trump White House records had been ripped up and then taped back together, according to three people familiar with the records.

Former president Donald Trump was known inside the White House for his unusual and potentially unlawful habit of tearing presidential records into shreds and tossing them on the floor - creating a headache for records management analysts who meticulously used Scotch tape to piece together fragments of paper that were sometimes as small as confetti, as Politico reported in 2018.

But despite the Presidential Records Act - which requires the preservation of memos, letters, notes, emails, faxes and other written communications related to a president’s official duties - the former president’s infrangible shredding practices apparently continued well into the latter stages of his presidency. ...

Trump wanting to seize voting machines? And he harps on about a "rigged election"? Dear God, what would he have done if he had actually got hold of them? The hypocrite.

Ouch, what a disaster in the offing.

Biggest problem is that Trump would choose himself over a constitutional disaster and disintegration of the (U)SA.

I like Chris Cillizza, I find his columns really interesting.

Edit: for some reason, I just had flashbacks of this: http://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/454453/Rodney-Hide-a-bumbling-dwarf

I think there are a few parallels here.

The NY Times - ‘Trump Is Wrong,’ Pence Says of False Claim About Overturning Election

04 Feb 2022

Former Vice President Mike Pence said in a speech on Friday that he had no right to overturn the 2020 election, as the former president has falsely claimed.

Former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday offered his most forceful rebuke of Donald Trump, saying that Mr. Trump is “wrong” that Mr. Pence had the legal authority to change the results of the 2020 election and that the Republican Party must accept the outcome and look toward the future. ...

President Trump is wrong,” said Mr. Pence, in his remarks before the Federalist Society, a conservative legal organization. “I had no right to overturn the election.”  *

* Pence drew enthusiastic applause from the crowd of conservative lawyers when he said this.

Has the worm turned?

Washington Post: Airing 2020 election grievances, Trump appears in first TV ad for Georgia gubernatorial hopeful David Perdue

Donald Trump speaks directly to the camera in the first television ad aired by Georgia gubernatorial candidate David Perdue, underscoring how much that race centers on the former president and his grievances about the 2020 election.

The 30-second spot, which debuted Tuesday, opens with “a message from President Trump” in which Trump criticizes severely the state’s Republican governor, Brian Kemp, for not intervening to overturn Joe Biden’s presidential election victory in Georgia.
...
Trump later offers his endorsement of Perdue ... who was defeated by a Democrat... Some Republicans blamed Perdue’s loss ... on Trump’s fixation on his 2020 election defeat.
