Nasty ...  😦

The Washington Post - Opinion: I tried Trump’s Truth Social so you don’t have to

today

This this week, in your behalf, I made a painful sacrifice: I joined Truth Social so you don’t have to.

As a result, I have come to be in possession of the following new pieces of information about the war in Ukraine:

  • Hunter Biden is involved in building and running biolabs in the country.

  • The CIA and National Institutes of Health are both “deeply involved” in the Ukrainian biolabs.

  • Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was set in motion by a CIA false-flag operation that was funded by George Soros.

  • The covid-19 pathogen originated not in China but in Shpyl’chyna, a village in Ukraine.

  • The bioweapons developed in Ukraine specifically target the “Abrahamic Bloodline.”

  • Neo-Nazis from Ukraine joined with the FBI to infiltrate the Capitol on Jan. 6 and participated in the insurrection.

  • Ukraine was planning to use drones to attack Russia with pathogens from the U.S.-funded bioweapons labs.

  • President Biden has been using Ukraine to launder money.

  • Ukrainian neo-Nazis controlled the Ukrainian city of Mariupol before Russians invaded.

  • Russia’s alleged war crimes were staged. ...

It seems that Trump’s social media venture is headed the way of Trump University, Trump’s Atlantic City casinos, Trump’s charities, Trump mattresses, Trump steaks, Trump clothing, Trump perfume, Trump lighting, Trump floor coverings, Trump eyewear, the Trump presidency and American democracy.

Oh you didn't know? This is all stuff the "mainstream media" has been "hiding" from you, because "they don't want you to know" 🙄

Jesus, I don't remember misinformation being this bad when Bush was President, and I'm fairly sure Facebook and Twitter were around back then, too.

Atlantic: Trump Is a Flat Circle

The former president knows by now that no one can or will stop him from soliciting and receiving illicit help.

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend,” the ancient proverb goes. Less known is the Trump corollary: Even when my friend’s enemy is also an alleged war criminal and my country’s geopolitical enemy. It’s harder and harder to be shocked by Donald Trump, but asking Russia’s leader to interfere in American politics to help him, in the midst of a brutal and illegal war condemned by most of the world, might just do it.

Trump’s comment was no gaffe under gotcha questioning. He made the remarks Tuesday in a cozy interview, airing on the Real America’s Voice network, with the pro-Trump disinformation site Just the News. The subject was a $3.5 million payment in 2014 from a Russian oligarch to a company that Senate Republicans claim was owned by Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden’s son. (Hunter Biden denies involvement in the company; he founded another with a very similar name.)

“I would think Putin would know the answer to that. I think he should release it,” Trump said. “I think we should know that answer.”

If you’re feeling déjà vu, you’re right. In July 2016, then-candidate Trump infamously asked Russia to hack the U.S. government to obtain emails sent by Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state. “I will tell you this: Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” he said.

...In February 2017, Bill O’Reilly pressed him on his professions of “respect” for the Russian, saying, “Putin is a killer.” Trump was unbothered: “There are a lot of killers. We have a lot of killers. ...”

The Guardian - Republican governor blasts Trump as ‘crazy’ during Washington roast

04 April

Chris Sununu of New Hampshire makes remarks at event noted for tradition of roasting politicians with cutting comedy speeches.

Sununu’s comments included a recollection of traveling in a limousine together from a New Hampshire airport to a campaign rally.

Trump, according to Sununu, was reveling in the presence of supporters waving flags along the route and proudly pointed one out.

I can’t help but notice the guy he pointed at, the sign he’s holding says, ‘F--- Trump’,” Sununu joked to loud applause. ...

The press often will ask me if I think Donald Trump is crazy. And I’ll say it this way, I don’t think he’s so crazy that you could put him in a mental institution. But I think if he were in one, he ain’t getting out.” ...

Sununu wasn’t the only speaker taking shots at Trump. Joe Biden sent in a video that was played to attendees apologizing for his absence.

I really wanted to be with you tonight, but the truth is I just couldn’t find a seven hour and 37 minute gap in my schedule,” Biden said, a reference to the missing period of time in Trump’s White House communications log on 6 January last year while his supporters were ransacking the US Capitol.

(Trump did not attend this event.)

BBC News - Trump's Truth Social app branded a disaster

today

In October, Donald Trump announced he was planning to launch a revolutionary technology company.

"I created Truth Social… to stand up to the tyranny of big tech," he said.

"We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter yet your favourite American president has been silenced."

The app launched on Presidents' Day, 21 February, but six weeks later is beset by problems. A waiting list of nearly 1.5 million are unable to use it. ...

Truth Social might look like Twitter, but it isn't available on Android phones, web browsers or, apparently, to most people outside the US.

"It's been a disaster," Joshua Tucker, director of NYU's Center for Social Media and Politics, said.

And a Republican ally of Mr Trump's, who did not wish to be identified, said: "Nobody seems to know what's going on." ...

[Trump] has not posted a "truth" for well over a month.

Also, 1.5 million users is a long, long way from the nearly 90 million-odd that he used to have on Twitter. Sure, he gets big crowds at his rallies, but that means 0 on voting day.

Maybe people just don't care anymore about him "standing up to Big Tech" when it's really due to one man's never-ending grudges, pettiness and desire for revenge?

Bets on how long until this failure also bites the dust?

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/04/03/trump-endorses-palin-in-alaska-house-special-election-00022627

Referring to her time on the 2008 Republican ticket alongside the late Sen. John McCain — a longtime foil of the former president — Trump said, “Sarah lifted the McCain presidential campaign out of the dumps despite the fact she had to endure some very evil, stupid, and jealous people within the campaign itself. They were out to destroy her, but she didn’t let that happen.”

Except she did say some stupid stuff - something Palin herself has admitted. She did lift McCain's campaign but that was very temporary, and he went on to lose: something a lot of people actually think was her fault (of which I'm inclined to agree).

Before he died McCain himself admitted that he wished he had chosen someone else as his VP nominee, but he didn't get too philosophical about it, as he gave it his best shot.

I agree that Palin has name recognition, but she's had very little to do with politics since leaving the Governor's office in 2009. I feel she may have a bit of an uphill battle this time around, even though many commentators observed that her becoming McCain's VP pick had a hand in "laying the ground" for a Trump presidency. So of course he's going to lather her in praise.

PALIN BLASTS WORDLE FOR USING LONG WORDS

ANCHORAGE (The Borowitz Report)—Kicking off her campaign for the United States Congress, Sarah Palin lashed out at the word game Wordle for “using such long words.”

“Wordle uses words that are way too long for everyday Americans to guess,” she told her audience at a campaign stop in Anchorage. “When I tried to play Wordle, I did the same thing I did as governor—I quit halfway through.”

Palin also blasted her longtime nemesis, the New York Times, also the publisher of Wordle. “Once again, the New York Times is using long words to try and make me feel bad,” she said.

When asked if she was concerned that fifty other candidates are running for Alaska’s open congressional seat, she replied succinctly, “Boo sucks to them.”

From the above:

The Truth Social app has been downloaded 1.2 million times in all, trailing far behind rival conservative apps Parler and Gettr at 11.3 million and 6.8 million installations, respectively.

He's banging on about not being top of the list of apps, and not enough people making it number 1. Part of me thinks that if he just engaged with people a bit more - and posted more than 1 thing almost two months ago, it might get people more interested. But hey, what do I know.
