None of the following will surprise you ...

BBC World Service - Capitol riot hearing: Trump dismisses daughter Ivanka's testimony

11 June

The broadcast included a clip of testimony by former US Attorney General Bill Barr saying he had repeatedly dismissed the outgoing president's claims that mass voter fraud had caused him to lose the election.

Another excerpt was aired of Ivanka Trump's interview from April with the committee when she was asked about her reaction to Mr Barr's assessment.

"It affected my perspective," Ms Trump said. "I respect Attorney General Barr so I accepted what he was saying."

Mr Trump responded on his social media site, Truth Social, on Friday, labelling the inquiry a "WITCH HUNT!"

"Ivanka Trump was not involved in looking at, or studying, Election results," he added.

"She had long since checked out and was, in my opinion, only trying to be respectful to Bill Barr and his position as Attorney General (he sucked!)."

The president also lambasted Mr Barr as a "coward", while continuing to insist the election was "rigged". ...

Always the innocent victim ...  🙄

Washington Post: The heated Jan. 6 email exchange between Trump’s and Pence’s lawyers, annotated

...Vice President Mike Pence’s chief counsel, Greg Jacob to Trump layer John Eastman (after Jan. 6 riot began):

John, very respectfully, I just don’t in the end believe that there is a single Justice on the United States Supreme Court, or a single judge on any of our Courts of Appeals, who is as “broad minded” as you when it comes to the irrelevance of statutes enacted by the United States Congress, and followed without exception for more than 130 years. They cannot be set aside except when in direct conflict with the Constitution that our revered Framers handed us. And very respectfully, I don’t think that a single one of those Framers would agree with your position either. Certainly, Judge Luttig has made clear he does not. And there is no reasonable argument that the Constitution directs or empowers the Vice President to set a procedure followed for 130 years before it has even been resorted to.

Lincoln suspended the writ when the body entrusted with that authority was out of session, and submitted it to them as soon as it returned. I understand your argument that several state legislatures were out of session. But the role for state legislatures has for our entire history ended at the time that electoral certificates are submitted to Congress. Congress has debated submissions, including competing submissions. It has never once referred them out to state legislatures to decide.

I respect your heart here. I share your concerns about what Democrats will do once in power. I want election integrity fixed. But I have run down every legal trail placed before me to its conclusion, and I respectfully conclude that as a legal framework, it is a results oriented position that you would never support if attempted by the opposition, and essentially entirely made up.

And thanks to your bull----, we are now under siege.

quickymart:  Predictably, the right-wing channels and outlets (mostly Fox) continue to spout propaganda - the exact same thing they accuse all the other channels of doing:

Ah, John Eastman. Another election fraud blowhard whose day of reckoning is coming far, far sooner than he would like it to.
Also re Trump and the fruit lawyer; he never pays his lawyers any money, so how is he paying her? A fruit basket? That would make sense.

The Guardian - Rudy Giuliani charged with ethical misconduct over Trump’s big lie

breaking

Rudy Giuliani has been hit with ethics charges over baseless claims he made about the 2020 presidential election being stolen while serving as an attorney for Donald Trump.

The charges were filed on Friday by the District of Columbia office that polices attorneys for ethical misconduct.

The DC office of disciplinary counsel alleges that Giuliani, who is a member of the DC bar, made baseless claims in federal court filings about the results of the 2020 presidential election in Pennsylvania.

I bet Trump will be absolutely livid about this, he was always big on ratings. You'd almost think people would want to watch to see the reasons behind the January 6 insurrection! /s

The Washington Post - Ginni Thomas pressed 29 Arizona lawmakers to help overturn Trump’s defeat, emails show

10 June 2022

Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, pressed 29 Republican state lawmakers in Arizona - 27 more than previously known - to set aside Joe Biden’s popular vote victory and “choose” presidential electors, according to emails obtained by The Washington Post. ...

On Nov. 9 [2020], she sent identical emails to 20 members of the Arizona House and 7 Arizona state senators. That represents more than half of the Republican members of the state legislature at the time.

The message, just days after media organizations called the race for Biden in Arizona and nationwide, urged lawmakers to “stand strong in the face of political and media pressure” and claimed that the responsibility to choose electors was “yours and yours alone.”

They had “power to fight back against fraud” and “ensure that a clean slate of Electors is chosen,” the email said. ...

Something is rotten in the state of Arizona.   😐

The NY Times - ‘Episode One’ of the Jan. 6 Hearings

  • “After two hours of documentary evidence and testimony, we learned that this insurrectionist conspiracy was, like everything else associated with that last administration, exactly what you thought, but worse than you could have imagined. The next episode drops on Monday morning, and to quote the former president, ‘Be there. Will be wild.’”  -  STEPHEN COLBERT

  • “It was such a juicy burger that Fox News knew that even their viewers would be tempted to take a bite, which is why  -  and this is true  -  for the first hour of his show opposite the hearings, Tucker Carlson took no commercial breaks. Do you understand what that means? Fox News is willing to lose money to keep their viewers from flipping over and accidentally learning information.”  -  STEPHEN COLBERT

  • “Of course Fox isn’t airing it - they’re a key suspect in it. They would be - that would be like if Court TV’s coverage of the O.J. trial had been hosted by O.J.” - SETH MEYERS

Seen elsewhere; a bit grisly but fairly accurate:

I think this is an obscure reference to the 1988 movie "They live"

Jumped to relevant part of movie., 31 minute mark

Having just fully watched the movie, I absolutely see what you mean - very strong connection! Good movie too, I was glad when the aliens got their what-for at the end. Now if only people could do the same for all the Trumplicans...

https://edition.cnn.com/interactive/2022/06/politics/alex-jones-infowars-fringe-to-frontline/

Interesting (and lengthy) read about Alex Jones and his part in the whole misinformation spreading business in the US, as well as his ties to the orange buffoon.

I've seen very little of any of his "work", but he comes across as a really angry, angry person. I'd be stunned if any female could put up with all his crap.

Even more astonishing is he's only 2 years older than me 😮 I reckon he looks way older.

He's seven years younger than me and I think I look better... Thinking up crap might be hard on the skin.

Either that, or the stupid fake diet "supplements" which he sells, which have been proven to contain lead and don't actually do anything good to your body.

EDIT

Jones sells products such as "Super Male Vitality" drops, "Lung Cleanse Plus Spray" and "Prostaguard", "Vitamin Mineral Fusion", "Alpha Power", and "Brain Force" pills.

He also previously sold a toothpaste that he claimed could fight COVID-19 - falsely, according to scientific experts - and that led to a warning letter from the FDA. It's no longer available.

ERIC TRUMP ASKS DAD IF HE CAN HAVE IVANKA’S ROOM

PALM BEACH (The Borowitz Report)—According to those familiar with the exchange, Eric Trump began campaigning for his sister’s Mara-Lago room just moments after Ivanka's testimony aired on Thursday night.

“Dad, Ivanka doesn’t deserve that big room. I mean, she’s never even here, but now she's in Washington, saying things about you that totally suck. Can I please, please have her room?”

“Stop being a whiny loser,” his father reportedly responded. "Put in a tender like everyone else."
