So not all Florida judges are Trump sycophants 🙃
It should be noted that Trump originally deliberately filed in the Federal District for which there is only one judge - Aileen Cannon. Judge Middlebrooks was very scathing of that transparent attempt to pervert the course of justice.

A rather scathing (and amusing) look at why Truth Social isn't doing as well as Trump thinks it is (or could be).
Also - while I agree with everything that Ty bloke said, does anyone else look at him and think of Boss Hogg?

Not really, but it is very much an Older Southern Gentleman look.
Edited to add: Ah, it was the other Ty Cobb who was from Georgia. No idea why this one has gone with that look.
One of Trump's cronies is running a "weird" campaign in Pennsylvania.

What stuck out to me was this bit: "As he tours the Commonwealth, Mastriano has essentially walled himself off from the general public, traveling within a bubble of security guards and jittery aides who aim to not only keep him safe, but ensure he only comes into contact with true believers..."
I feel like this actually harkens back to when Trump was running for re-election in 2020 - outside of the debates, I note that he only ever surrounded himself with supporters. He didn't attend any outreach sessions with anyone outside of his base; he definitely didn't go on any walkabouts or anything that I can remember. (I don't recall if Joe did - I don't think so either but I could be wrong).
Hopefully this guy also loses - he was there on January 6 and is a vehement election denier. His Democratic opponent leads him currently.
It's all about killing time ... and justice delayed ...
The NY Times - Trump Asks Judge to Keep Blocking F.B.I. From Working With Seized Classified Files
12 September
Lawyers for former President Donald J. Trump asked a federal judge on Monday to deny the Justice Department’s request to immediately restart a key part of its criminal investigation into his hoarding of sensitive government documents at his residence in Florida.
Renewing their request for an expansive independent review of records seized from Mr. Trump, the former president’s legal team argued that documents marked as classified should remain off limits to the F.B.I. and prosecutors.
They asked the judge, Aileen M. Cannon,* to maintain her order barring agents from using any of the materials taken from his estate until an outside arbiter, known as a special master, has vetted all of them. ...
The filing on Monday was the latest salvo in what threatens to become a protracted court fight over a special master and the powers that person should have in filtering the trove of seized documents.

If he had nothing to hide, why is he so hellbent on stopping the investigation? If he had nothing to worry about, surely he would just let justice run its course?

The NY Times - Justice Dept. Issues 40 Subpoenas in a Week, Expanding Its Jan. 6 Inquiry
breaking
WASHINGTON - The Justice Department has issued about 40 subpoenas over the past week seeking information about the actions of former President Donald J. Trump and his associates related to the 2020 election and the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol ...
Two top Trump advisers, Boris Epshteyn and Mike Roman, had their phones seized as evidence ...
The department’s actions represent a substantial escalation of a slow-simmer investigation two months before the midterm elections, coinciding with a separate inquiry into Mr. Trump’s hoarding of sensitive documents at his residence in Florida, Mar-a-Lago.
Among those the department has contacted since Wednesday are people who are close to the former president and have played significant roles in his post-White House life.
Excellent news, but is it too late to drain the swamp?

The Washington Post - Justice Dept. says it will accept Trump nominee for special master
breaking
The Justice Department filed court papers Monday signaling that it would accept Raymond J. Dearie - a former chief federal judge in New York - as a special master charged with reviewing papers seized by the FBI from former president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence and club. ...
In the 1980s, Dearie was the U.S Attorney in Brooklyn - a time when the office’s workload was dominated by the pursuit of mobsters, gang leaders, and financial fraudsters. *
He was nominated to the federal bench by President Ronald Reagan and became one of the most highly-regarded jurists in the Eastern District of New York.
Dearie, 78, has previously served on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, which oversees sensitive national security cases.
* How appropriate - The Don's father, Fred Trump, was in his prime in Brooklyn in the 1980s. 😶
