This is a bit wild, not only for the story, but this article was published by "Voice of America" a government-funded, international TV, radio and digital news network.

VOA was established during WWII, and its charter was signed into law in 1976 by Republican President Gerald Ford.

VOA: Trump Seen Moving Closer to QAnon Conspiracy

Recent instances in which former U.S. President Donald Trump appears to embrace the QAnon conspiracy theory are raising concern among some lawmakers, veteran law enforcement officials and cult experts.

Trump shared a picture of himself wearing a Q lapel pin, overlaid with the QAnon phrases “The Storm is Coming” and “WWG1WGA,” (an acronym for “Where We Go One, We Go All) on his Truth Social account September 12.

Trump has amplified at least 50 separate QAnon-promoting accounts since joining and actively using his Truth Social online platform, according to Alex Kaplan, senior researcher at Media Matters for America, a left-wing media watchdog.

“Just in case it wasn’t abundantly CLEAR at this point, President Trump himself is making it UNDENIABLE that he is 100% aligning with the Q operation,” John Sabal, an organizer of QAnon-focused conferences, posted on his Telegram channel. Sabal has previously stated the U.S. military is obligated to remove President Joe Biden from office, who the conspiracy theorist termed a “rouge actor.”

A week old, so may have been posted

Detroit News: Daughter: Michigan man fell into conspiracy rabbit hole before shooting family

A Michigan man whose daughter said had been struggling with mental issues after embracing conspiracy theories was fatally shot by police Sunday after he allegedly shot and killed his wife and injured another daughter.

...The man struggled with mental issues after embracing conspiracy theories was fatally shot by police after he came out of the front door with a shotgun and allegedly started shooting at officers.
The officers returned fire, killing Lanis, Bouchard said. No officers were injured.

When they went into the house, they found Lanis’ daughter trying to crawl out of the house, Bouchard said. She had been shot with a shotgun in the back and legs.

Her 56-year-old mother was dead inside the home, Bouchard said. She had been shot at least four times with a handgun.

Police, who do not know what led to the shooting, did not identify the victims. But the suspect's daughter, Rebecca Lanis, told The Detroit News that they were her mother, Tina Lanis, and sister, Rachel Lanis.

The family dog also was shot multiple times and killed.

Rachel Lanis was in stable condition...
...
Rebecca Lanis said after President Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election, her father started falling deeper into "crazy ideas" online, including QAnon conspiracy theories about Trump and vaccines.

"Nobody could talk him out of them," she said.

The Walled Lake family's life used to be "perfect," said Rebecca Lanis, who missed the shooting by "dumb luck" because she was at a friend's house for a birthday. ...

FineWine:

Space Force releases official song 'Semper Supra'

And OMG it is just as corny as the then President. This very brief anthem sounds cheap. TV show theme writers would have done better. It does not tug at my heart strings or rouse me to battle. John Philip Sousa would be rolling in his grave.

Best comment: Brian Rose, "is that guy still a general after this decision?".

PALM BEACH (The Borowitz Report)—Infuriated by Judge Raymond Dearie’s requests for information in the Mar-a-Lago documents case, Donald J. Trump has demanded that the special master be fired and replaced with what he called “an extra-special master.”

“This Dearie, he’s a beauty, he really is,” Trump told reporters. “He’s asking for information like you wouldn’t believe. He’s a sick guy.”

Pressed to explain what he meant by an “extra-special master,” Trump said, “We need somebody in there, somebody who’s more special than this guy. There's plenty of them around, believe me, and they'd be honored to work for America's Best Favorite President of All Time.”

Claiming that Dearie is “rigged against me,” Trump said, “After that guy is fired and goes back to Antifa or wherever he came from, we’ve got to find out what idiot chose him in the first place. This should never be allowed to happen in our country.”

Back in the good old days - patriotism was the last refuge of a scoundrel. Now they've got QAnon..

Judge Raymond J. Dearie

The Washington Post - Special master prods Trump lawyers: ‘You can’t have your cake and eat it’

today

NEW YORK - A special master pressed Donald Trump’s attorneys to move quickly and provide more answers about whether the former president did or didn’t declassify documents marked “top secret” that were found in his Florida home last month, saying “you can’t have your cake and eat it” if they want to argue the documents might not still be secret.

At his first meeting with lawyers for Trump and the Justice Department in his new role as special master, U.S. District Judge Raymond J. Dearie urged the Trump side to spell out its position on the question of roughly 100 documents marked classified that were taken by FBI agents as part of a court-authorized search of Mar-a-Lago on Aug. 8.

We have little time to complete the tasks assigned to the court,” Dearie told the lawyers ... “We are going to proceed with what I call responsible dispatch.” ...

It was an inauspicious start for Trump’s engagement with a special master, which the former president had requested after the FBI’s search, and for Trump’s lawyers, who seemed to find a less receptive audience with Dearie than they have with Cannon.

I wonder whether Donald et al are starting to regret their choice of special master?  🙄

Great news. The NY AG has announced she is charging Don and his three chn with fraud and she also said they had also uncovered potentioal criminal violations.

That's a good start. With many other charges surely to follow, he will need a team of thousands to defend him!

But, what idiot lawyer accepts him as a client?? Perhaps because 3 million dollars is tempting?

linw:  Great news. ...

The Washington Post - Donald Trump, 3 of his children accused of business fraud by New York AG

Trump's predictable response :

The Daily Mail - Trump attacks 'racist' New York AG Letitia James for her $250 million 'witch hunt' lawsuit, claims SHE is the fraud ...

'Another Witch Hunt by a racist Attorney General, Letitia James, who failed in her run for Governor, getting almost zero support from the public, and now is doing poorly against Law & Order A.G. candidate, highly respected Michael Henry,' Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social

and:

Insider - Trump calls the NY attorney general 'Letitia 'Peekaboo' James' and revives claims that she's 'racist' after she sued him for fraud

Letitia James is Black. Donald Trump is a racist liar.

This is literally "the pot calling the kettle black".   😕

The Washington Post - The 5-Minute Fix  (condensed)

22 September

Today the state of New York sued Donald Trump, members of his family and his business over allegations of financial fraud.

This is big for three potential reasons:

  1.  If New York wins its lawsuit, the former president’s business - and business prospects - will be hobbled for some time to come.

  2.  Politically, this is not what you want when about to launch a potential presidential campaign. Trump could claim political victimization to rally his loyal base ... but what effect does so much legal trouble have on swayable voters?

  3.  This could also be legally symbolic. This is the first legal action taken against the former president, and there are many more investigations, including criminal ones, going on around him
.

The background:

For the past two years, the New York attorney general, Letitia James, a Democrat, has been investigating Trump’s business, which is based in New York.

Specifically, she was looking into whether his business lied about its assets, to duck taxes or get loans for Trump properties that weren’t nearly as valuable as claimed.

Today, she announced that the state of New York is suing Trump and three of his children and his business, accusing them of doing just that.

What effects this will have on Trump:

Financially, if the state of New York wins, Trump and his children could be barred from ever running a company in New York, and his company will have to pay $250 million in fees.

Legally, there are as many as half a dozen investigations of Trump going on right now, and this is the first one to bring some kind of legal action against the former president. *

*  Any veneer of legal protection there was for Trump as a former president has now been symbolically broken.

Given the egos involved, either starting his own party would be ideal, since it would split the vote.

Axios: New poll shows Florida Governor DeSantis leading Trump in hypothetical Florida primary

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) may have an edge among voters in his own state over former President Trump, a USA Today/Suffolk University poll out Wednesday shows.

Why it matters: It's still early, but the new figures illustrate the potentially changing preferences among GOP voters in the Sunshine State in favor of rising conservative star DeSantis.

Driving the news: In a hypothetical 2024 primary in Florida, DeSantis leads Trump 48% to 40% — compared to January, when Trump led DeSantis by seven points, per USA Today.

I hope his 'God's Armour' includes knacker protection, cos that's where Donny's sword'll be aimed.

Even if Ron were to win Florida in a primary though, that's just one state - he'd need to win a lot more than there.

At this point Trump is still the front-runner (God knows why) for 2024.

Aside; I'm reading The Divider. Very interesting so far. Massive book!

It's a bad day for the Don ...

The New York Times - Appeals Court Restores Justice Dept.’s Access to Sensitive Files Seized From Trump

breaking

WASHINGTON - A federal appeals court on Wednesday restored the Justice Department’s access to documents with classified markings that had been seized last month from former President Donald J. Trump’s Florida residence, handing a victory to federal investigators in their efforts to examine Mr. Trump’s hoarding of sensitive government records.

In a strongly worded 29-page decision, the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit blocked part of an order by a federal judge that had temporarily barred the department from using the classified materials in its inquiry into whether Mr. Trump illegally retained national defense documents and obstructed the government’s repeated efforts to recover them.  ...

The ruling would simplify the process now underway before the special master, Judge Raymond J. Dearie, whom Mr. Trump’s lawyers had recommended for the role.

If it stands, Judge Dearie will no longer have to assess the classified material and can focus his attention on the larger trove of 11,000 unclassified records.
