Quite a few good cartoons out this week, here's one dealing with Musk letting any idiot onto Twitter, all in the name of "free speech".

And then onto the stuff that house Republicans consider really important (Inflation? Cost of living? No.):

Finally Trump, and "so much winning!" - except this probably isn't the way that he would have pictured it:

I could see why she'd want to do it. Get courted by both sides, plus no fund raising for the Democratic party.

Obviously it's not great, but could be worse. She's doing it her own personal ambitions, but what else is new?

BBC: US Senator says she will leave Democratic Party

US Senator Kyrsten Sinema has announced her intention to leave the Democratic Party, four years after being elected.

But she emphasised that she will not sit with Republicans and said she would instead serve as an independent member in the chamber.

The Democrats maintain control of the upper chamber with Vice-President Kamala Harris's tie-breaking vote.

They should all become independent. I am not a believer in party politics or political parties.

Sean Spicer was Trump's White House Press Secretary

7 December is Pearl Harbor Day, which commemorates the Japanese attack on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in 1941.

D-Day, the Allied Invasion of Western Europe during World War II, is commemorated annually in June.

Twitter

"Today is Dday. It only lives in infamy if we remember and share the story of sacrifice with the next generation. #DDay.”

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE FOUND IN TRUMP STORAGE UNIT

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump’s lawyers are unable to explain how the original Declaration of Independence made its way to a New York storage unit leased by the former President.

The Justice Department was informed that the eighteenth-century document was discovered under a stack of hastily packed items, including several pairs of socks, a bag of empty Coke cans and the Oval Office’s television remote.

“Of course, Mr. Trump will return the Declaration of Independence to the National Archives as soon as possible,” Harland Dorrinson, one of the attorneys, said. “This seems to have been an honest mistake.”

That version of events differs from one provided by a source close to the former President, who indicated that Trump had intentionally taken the Declaration of Independence after receiving an anonymous tip that there was a treasure map on the back.

EDIT:  This is a genuine quote from Donald Trump (Nov 9, 2022):

"Well, I think if they win, I should get all the credit. If they lose, I should not be blamed at all."

Independent UK/: Trump fails in key Mar-a-Lago lawsuit as Schiff confirms evidence of Jan 6 criminality

Donald Trump has failed in his latest effort to thwart the Department of Justice investigation into his retention of government documents at Mar-a-Lago, with a judge he himself appointed dismissing a lawsuit brought by his team.

The news is the latest blow to the former president’s multi-pronged but largely unsuccessful effort to slow down or end the probe, which he claims is a political witchhunt.

Meanwhile, as the January 6 select committee prepares to release its final report next week, Congressman Adam Schiff, a panel member, yesterday confirmed that he and his colleagues on the panel are in agreement that they have “evidence of criminality” – but that while they have agreed on nexst steps, he is not in position to confirm them.

The committee, he says, is mindful that that by only referring certain people, they could create the perception that others are below the threshold of culpability for the violent attack on the US Capitol.

Extremist Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene told a meeting of the New York Young Republicans Club this weekend that “If Steve Bannon and I organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, it would’ve been armed.”

If this trend continues, Trump could be getting a real run for his money in 2024. I haven't seen much polling for De Santis up against Biden, though.
