FineWine:

And the Genuflecting Toadies are coming out to lick Trumps derrière:

Vivek Ramawsamy's promise to pardon former president Donald Trump if he's elected.

and from another article: Trump’s indictment divides 2024 Republican hopefuls

Ramaswamy, who vowed to pardon Trump if elected president before details of the 37-count indictment were revealed, doubled down Sunday, telling CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” that after “reading that indictment and looking at the selective omissions of both fact and law,” he was “even more convinced that a pardon is the right answer here.”

Who the heck is Vivek Ramawsamy's ? They are calling him a hopeful - more like a doubtful!

THAT is why the state convictions are equally important. The President can NOT give pardons for state crimes.

And MORE states need to pile on in to make any release from prison impossible.

The criminal case against President Donald J. Trump over his hoarding of classified documents was randomly assigned to Judge Aileen M. Cannon, a court official for the Southern District of Florida said on Saturday.

I wonder how 'random' is defined in Florida these days. A Cannon judgement almost certainly guarantees there will be an appeal.

How Walt Nauta, a Personal Aide, Came to Be Charged as Trump’s Co-Conspirator - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

Easy... He's the fall guy.

On Friday, prosecutors unsealed those charges. Mr. Nauta, a 40-year-old Navy veteran, was charged with conspiracy, making false statements and withholding documents as part of Mr. Trump’s effort to thwart the government’s attempts to reclaim the classified documents Mr. Trump had taken with him when he left the White House.

Mr. Nauta’s story is, among other things, a cautionary tale about what loyalty to Mr. Trump can bring. After serving his country in the military and serving as a valet in the White House, Mr. Nauta stayed with Mr. Trump as a personal aide — and now faces the prospect of years in federal prison for having apparently carried out his wishes.

Until now largely unknown to the public, Mr. Nauta has been thrust into the spotlight as a low-level but central figure in the conspiracy being alleged by prosecutors. Mr. Nauta, who has been on Mr. Trump’s campaign payroll, was part of Mr. Trump’s traveling retinue during a trip to Georgia and North Carolina on Saturday.

A common law enforcement tactic:

If you want to take down the kingpin, throw the book at his underlings, under the hope they'll do whatever you want.

I don't say I like this tactic; it just a reality.

I remember an awful case, where a husband and wife grew then illegal marijuana in Colorado.

Technically a wife cannot testify against her husband. So the prosecutor told the wife that both would be jailed, and it was likely the children would be put up for adoption, unless she testified against the husband.

Moral lesson: US law enforcement doesn't play nice.

I'd hope justice is indeed blind, and treats Trump the same as the powerless.

Who the heck is Vivek Ramawsamy

1st potential Trump vice president. All the other presidential candidates have more or less ruled themselves out. Trump does not have to pick someone on the podium but he could and just might.

I guess it could be a potential shot in the arm for your career being Trump's lawyer - as long as you don't plan on being paid for your work, ever...and could potentially end up indicted alongside your client.

Also: interesting analysis from CNN on whether this latest indictment will hurt him in polling or not: https://edition.cnn.com/2023/06/11/politics/polling-trump-republican-president-indictment/index.html

I have no doubt Republicans would crawl over broken glass to support the a-hole, but in a general election - that's a totally different story.

The NY Times - Trump Heads to Florida for Court Appearance in Documents Case

12 June 2023

Donald Trump is heading to Florida for tomorrow’s court appearance, and is interviewing lawyers to represent him.

Former President Donald J. Trump was en route to Florida on Monday, a day before his scheduled first appearance in federal court in Miami on criminal charges of mishandling sensitive national security secrets and seeking to thwart the government’s efforts to reclaim classified documents he took with him from the White House.

Mr. Trump is planning to spend Monday night at his Doral resort in Miami, where he and his legal team will be conducting last-minute interviews with lawyers to represent him in the case, before heading to the federal courthouse on Tuesday afternoon.

Just-in-time lawyer recruitment!  😏

The Washington Post - Judge Aileen Cannon’s pivotal role in Donald Trump’s criminal trial

12 June 2023

Aileen M. Cannon, the federal judge assigned to the Justice Department’s criminal case against former president Donald Trump, will set the pace and rules for how the unprecedented proceedings unfold.

She will be under intense scrutiny, not least because of her past rulings in Trump’s favor in a case related to the classified documents indictment. ...

She is really in the driver’s seat in terms of the pacing. The danger here is if it backs up into the 2024 campaign or if the case lingers until after Trump is reelected or another Republican elected, and they can direct the Justice Department to drop charges or pardon the president. This is a situation where speed equals substance.” - retired federal judge Nancy Gertner, a Harvard Law School professor. ...

Joseph DeMaria, a former federal prosecutor who has practiced in the Southern District for more than three decades, suggested the criminal trial should be reassigned to a judge with more experience, given the complexities of dealing with highly classified material as well as the first federal indictment of a former president.  “She is one of the youngest, least experienced on the federal bench who has never had a case like this.”

Donald Trump's time-tested legal strategy: Attack. Attack. Attack. Delay. Delay. Delay. ...  🧐

If you don't recognize the name "Koch" just remember it's similar to "cock".

The brothers' super PAC "Americans for Prosperity" is evil, opposing everything from affordable health care to climate change, and enabling many Republican villains and corrupting the Supreme Court.

Trump had two AFP employees in his administration: Andeliz N. Castillo, Office of the Vice President and John Baylor Myers, Department of the Treasury.

However "the enemy of my enemy" is good.

CNBC: ‘Trump can’t win’: Koch network releases ads targeting ex-president

The political network financed largely by billionaire Charles Koch is launching a wave of digital ads targeting former President Donald Trump.

The ads argue that if Trump becomes the Republican nominee next year, it will lead to President Joe Biden winning reelection.

Americans for Prosperity Action, a super PAC that received millions of dollars during the 2022 election cycle from the Charles Koch-chaired Koch Industries and the Koch-backed Stand Together Chamber of Commerce, gave CNBC a first look at some of the new digital ads.

Koch, who’s worth more than $60 billion, and his network notched several wins while Trump was in office, including tax cuts and the appointments of multiple conservative Supreme Court justices. The network traditionally backs Republican candidates.

Republican support splintering a bit (hopefully)? https://www.politico.com/news/2023/06/12/trump-indictment-gop-criticism-00101597

Although some are being ridiculed for their half-baked defense of Trump's conduct: https://www.salon.com/2023/06/12/you-know-better-legal-experts-trash-lindsey-grahams-embarrassing-defense-of-indictment/

And this is how Clinton's e-mails case is nothing like Trump's: https://www.salon.com/2023/06/12/no-classified-document-haul-is-nothing-like-hillary-clintons-emails/

I didn't know this but if Trump can't find a lawyer his arraignment may need to be delayed: https://www.salon.com/2023/06/12/none-of-us-want-to-work-for-the-guy-nightmare-client-cant-find-a-new-mar-a-lago-lawyer/

What I don't understand about the upcoming arraignment is how Cannon - a known Trump supporter, who can't possible be impartial - ends up on the bench of this extremely important trial. I read somewhere that the judge was selected 'at random'. Oh, right. Just like my backside 'randomly' points downward.

Politico had a look at the point you raised here: https://www.politico.com/news/2023/06/12/judge-aileen-cannon-trump-documents-case-00101641

And speaking of his court case...not all of his advisers are on board with this "protest" Trump called for: https://news.yahoo.com/trump-advisers-quietly-worry-courthouse-000953735.html

And another longtime adviser thought the idea of a rally was unwise, suggesting that Loomer and Stone were not the best people to assemble a responsible crowd.

When have they had a good idea?” this Trump adviser wondered.

MAR-A-LAGO DINNER GUESTS PUZZLED WHY MENUS CONTAINED LOCATIONS OF MISSILE SITES

PALM BEACH (The Borowitz Report)—Guests who dined at Mar-a-Lago shortly after January, 2021, wondered why their menus featured missile sites of the United States and its allies, the diners have reported.

Harland Dorrinson, who’d had lunch at Mar-a-Lago, said that he’d found the list of missile installations “confusing,” but added, “I just assumed they were specials.”

Carol Foyler, who’d visited the private club for dinner, was similarly baffled. “I thought maybe they were trying to turn the place into some kind of theme restaurant,” she said.

The hard-to-read menus irritated another dinner guest, Tracy Klugian. “It was the last thing I needed, especially after climbing over all of those boxes to get to my table,” he said.
