Donald in Fantasy Land

MSN - Trump lashes out at Mitch McConnell in overnight rant

In the middle of the night, Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to issue a warning to his own party and then attack Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

The Don is definitely in melt-down ...   😦

Gröfaz: Greatest Military Commander of all Time? Sounds like Trump, though it doesn't seem to have yet occurred to him that this is definitely a title he should adopt. Might make a good poster for his cell.

Yes, but there's always room for improvement. It's hard to imagine what could happen if he were re-elected and acquired a taste for it.

Jack Smith makes a very good point as to why immunity shouldn't apply to any president, not just Trump:

https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/contradicted-by-his-own-position-jack-smith-shreds-trumps-immunity-defense-against-jan-6-election-subversion-charges/

That approach would grant immunity from criminal prosecution to a President who accepts a bribe in exchange for directing a lucrative government contract to the payer; a President who instructs the FBI Director to plant incriminating evidence on a political enemy; a President who orders the National Guard to murder his most prominent critics; or a President who sells nuclear secrets to a foreign adversary, because in each of these scenarios, the President could assert that he was simply executing the laws; or communicating with the Department of Justice; or discharging his powers as Commander-in-Chief; or engaging in foreign diplomacy.

I just hope the judges agree with him! Presidents are not kings, immune to any consequences for their actions like Trump seems to think he is.

That is in very poor taste and an absolute insult to all those who have been murdered in those types of camps, now and in the past in various countries around the world !

I completely agree with you on all points.

This revolting fantasy is becoming increasingly plausible, as Trump and his cronies drift further into racist madness and fascist ranting.

This cartoon is in very bad taste, in the same sense as the one by cartoonist Michael de Adder which created controversy in 2019 -

Both cartoons have a strong cringe factor, but convey a powerful message.

Just as background, the later cartoon of the drowned child was inspired by this event: a migrant father and daughter clinging to each other who drowned in the Rio Grande while trying to cross into Brownsville, Texas.

It's similar to the drowning of a three-year-old Syrian boy whose body washed up on a beach in Turkey during the migrant crisis.

To add to the tragedies, most Americans shock and empathy quickly waned.

Trump in this campaign has stated “Following the Eisenhower model, we will carry out the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.”

As usual he's not joking. Trump has corresponding policies for large camps. Including support from the army and states for mass arrests. As with most things in Trump world it sounds dystopian and hard to believe at first. It will be extremely bad and will almost certainly cause loss of life in those circumstances.

Imo that cartoon has a large number of unnecessary holocaust references and misses the mark. Trump's policy and implementation will be all kinds of inhuman and it will result in deaths but it will not be industrial scale mass killing for the purpose of extermination. It is very sad to consider this difference.

May I make a final comment on the "Trump Gulag" cartoon?

Trump Fascism is a real and present danger in 2024.
Should Trump win the next election the result may be horrific.
One method of coping with horror is to laugh at it.
That is what this cartoonist (Chriss Britt) has done, with mixed success.

Newsweek - Video Phones Could Land Donald Trump in Big Trouble

01 Jan 2024

Donald Trump is facing trial on January 29 for allegedly duping people into investing in a loss-making video phone.

The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan, New York, in 2018, alleges Trump received millions of dollars in secret payments "to promote and endorse" ACN, a marketing company promoting a new type of video phone. ... *

The lawsuit alleges that Trump promoted the product on the TV show Celebrity Apprentice without disclosing that ACN was paying him.

[Trump] allegedly said at the time that ACN's video phones were doing "half-a-billion dollars' worth of sales a year."

* The video phone was essentially a wired desktop telephone with a video screen and webcam in addition to the usual handset and keypad.

Every dictator is unique. I reading a book about Leopold II. He was the second King of the Belgians from 1865 to 1909. He may have debatably exceeded Hitler's total at 15 million dead. At the minimum he was certainly responsible for a million deaths, and some gruesome new twists on cruelty.

When you go searching Youtube videos about Leopold II, you get quickly fall into a rabbit hole.

I was one click away from Youtube videos like "LEAST CORRUPT: Donald J. Trump" and "The Yom Kippur War: Where Men Became Beasts" and previews images like this

Back to the comic artist Chris Britt is easy to pile onto him for crossing the line.

I'd accuse him of being well-intentioned but combining too many visual metaphors and creating a dog's breakfast.

I point out that liberals are more inclined for burnt offerings/seppuku than conservatives.

Lucky for the world, Trump spread himself too thin (I know ironic) to be truly effective.

However Trump is now laser focused.

He is surrounded by traitors who've deeply analyzed what worked and what didn't.

Off the table are maintaining any semblance of democracy, justice, and separation of powers under the United States Constitution.

The ends of maintaining Republican dominance justify the means.

We can't really on Trump's incompetence to save the world from further long-term damage.

The US may be far from perfect, but they are still relied on to provide stability in the world.

So I'd suggest for comic artist Chris Britt cutting him some slack.
