neb: Biden doddering old man determined to cling to power no matter what the cost.

When you have to buy two bulk packs birthday candles, I think 77 candles versus 81 doesn't make a lot of difference.

Supreme Court Ruth Ginsburg did a lot of damage to the US because she wouldn't retire at the beginning of Obama's term, and thereby opening the door for a conservative justices to wreak serious damage.

From last night's Jimmy Kimmel show

Jimmy: Donald Trump is expected to get all the Republican delegates In Nevada presuming he's even allowed to run for president. The Supreme Court heard arguments today on whether Trump should be disqualified from running in Colorado because of a clause in the Constitution that bans officials who engaged in an Insurrection from running for office.

The conservative court is expected to rule in Trump's favor. Trump was not in DC for the hearing today but he did have something to say about it.

Here are his two primary lines of Defense
  1. it wasn't an Insurrection

  2. I didn't cause the Insurrection
Trump: "The one thing I'll say is they kept saying about what I said right after the Insurrection. Cuz I think it was an Insurrection caused by Nancy Pelosi"

Jimmy: That's right. Nancy Pelosi cooked up a secret plot to have a bunch of MAGA morons break into her office and poop into her desk. That's how she does things very sick woman

Trump: "I said peacefully and patriotically. The speech was called peacefully and patriotically it's peacefully and patriotically"

Jimmy: yes and then his followers tried to peacefully and patriotically kill the vice president of the United States.

Oh, I'm not saying either of them are good candidates, Woody Harrelson mentioned in an interview that he was at some dinner sitting next to Trump long before he was president and had to go outside and smoke a joint in order to deal with the rambling incoherent monologue:

Now, at a fair table with four people, each person is entitled to 25% of the conversation, right? I’d say Melania got about 0.1%, maybe. I got about 1%. And the governor, Jesse, he got about 3%. Trump took the rest. It got so bad I had to go outside and burn one before returning to the monologue monopoly.

The rest of the gerontocracy isn't much better, Mitch McConnell being a prime example. And that has serious implications for the whole country, Trump has telegraphed to the whole world including all the US' enemies that he'll give you anything you want as long as you loudly and publicly tell everyone what a great guy he is, and as for Biden this latest publication has confirmed, if it wasn't already known to the FSB and others, that he hasn't been firing on all cylinders for awhile now. There's a difference between the bad guys knowing that you're afraid of dogs (Merkle) and the bad guys knowing that you can't remember when your term as VP began.

Biden is getting worse by the day. The only thing that will stop Trump is a health issue. If I was Trump I'd be choosing the White House wallpaper already.

Unless of course Biden goes down hill even more rapidly and doesn't get to election day. We can but hope.

The best outcome would be both of them kicking the bucket, which would leave Kamala Harris vs. nothing - like other dictators before him, Trump knows that one of the prime rules for staying in power is to make sure there's no-one even remotely capable of taking over in the wings.

She's second banana to Trump because El Jefe needs someone in the second-banana role. I can't see her getting the support to run things if she has to step out of the designated also-ran role.

I am not a fan of her by any stretch of the imagination but I don't think she would be worse than any other Republican president. If Trump suddenly dropped out of the picture she would be the obvious choice to step up.

Speaking of which - if she were the nominee instead of Trump, Biden wouldn't do nearly as well (according to polling, anyway):

https://plus.thebulwark.com/p/biden-classified-docs-report-insult >> The Bulwark takes a look at the many differences between the Biden and Trump classified documents cases. Predictably, Trump has already started spinning the lies and bs:

The Biden Documents Case is 100 times different and more severe than mine. I did nothing wrong, and I cooperated far more. What Biden did is outrageously criminal - He had 50 years of documents, 50 times more than I had, and “WILLFULLY RETAINED” them.

The Independent: Bounced cheques and Trump’s ‘unpaid fees’: Rudy Giuliani lays bare his finances in bankruptcy hearing

Flanked by two attorneys at a desk in a small conference room, Rudy Giuliani sat through a federal bankruptcy court hearing that often felt more like a free-wheeling, wide-ranging interview about his financial affairs than a court’s probe to determine how, exactly, he can dig himself out.

The hearing near Manhattan’s Wall Street on Wednesday was steps away from Cipriani, the venue where the former New York City mayor and one-time attorney for Donald Trump joined the former president and loyalists in December to launch his 2024 campaign.

Less than two months later, Mr Giuliani was on the fifth floor of a bankruptcy court down the street, where he testified for the first time about his strained financial state after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the wake of a nearly $150m defamation judgment for his election lies.
...
He told the court that Mr Trump’s presidential campaign and the Republican National Committee owed him roughly $2m for his spurious legal efforts to overturn election results in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election.
...
According to Mr Giuliani, Mr Trump asked him to “take over” his campaign legal staff in November 2020, as Trump-allied attorneys launched a failed effort to reverse election outcomes in states he lost. “At that point, he had a tremendous number of complaints that there had been fraud in the election,” he said. “He asked me to lead that effort.”

He said his expenses were paid, but he “never got a salary.”

“Once I took over, it was my understanding that I would be paid by the campaign for my legal work and my expenses to be paid,” he said. “When we submitted the invoice for payment, they just paid the expenses. Not all but most. they never paid the legal fees.”
...

Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

I recall him wanting to charge Trump $20k a day for his (il-?)legal services in 2020. Trump essentially said no way in hell, so Rudy offered to do the work "pro bono". I guess he never got around to Googling what "pro bono" actually means 😀

There's one point in the Trump-Biden 'benefits and shortcomings' controversy that's never mentioned: Biden's job, at it's core, is just to make decisions that benefit the country. He doesn't need to ride around the block on a unicycle every morning or recite the Constitution backwards - he has drivers and advisors for those tasks. All he has to do is use his wealth of experience in politics, governing and leadership to do the right thing for America, and it seems to me he does that very ably.
