Rikkitic:

I find it hilarious that Trump bashes Nikki Haley's husband for not being present at her campaign rallies (because he is on active duty in the military overseas) while Melania rigorously avoids his own events. Maybe that valentine is a desperate plea to her to at least show up at one.

I'm certain Melania would be more than happy to turn up at Trump's funeral. Her first question to her PA every day is 'Is he still breathing?'

Couple of news stories from overnight:

https://apnews.com/article/georgia-elections-true-vote-ballot-stuffing-199113b47bc2df79c63fdf007cd23115 >> gee, what a shocking surprise, they couldn't prove electoral fraud at all πŸ™„

https://newrepublic.com/post/179049/trump-defense-stormy-daniels-hush-money-trial-no-crime >> this judge is not mucking around. Of course, the orange buffoon isn't happy about it. Oh dear, how sad, never mind πŸ˜€

The Washington Post - Opinion - Four signs Trump’s weaknesses are deepening

Jennifer Rubin, 15 Feb 2024

1. The New York 3rd [special election]

A Democrat’s convincing victory in the race to replace disgraced former congressman George Santos continues a string of defeats for Republicans in special elections, in off-year elections, in the 2022 midterms and in abortion battles. ...

2. Trump’s self-inflicted wounds on Ukraine and the border

The impressive 70-29 Senate vote on aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan demonstrated that more than a few Republican senators will break with Trump on some issues. ... [this] came in the wake of Trump’s outrageous invitation for Russia to attack NATO countries. ...

3. Republicans flee the House

A cavalcade of no fewer than 21 House Republican departures shows that some party members are not eager to run with Trump and serve should he get elected. ...

4. Trump’s trials grow near

Last and certainly not least, Trump’s ability to escape a criminal trial before the election appears to be diminishing. ...

Donald the Diminished...has a nice ring to it.

Trump fined $350 million and banned from running a company in New York for 3 years.

SJB:  Trump fined $350 million and banned from running a company in New York for 3 years. ...

It's Yuge!   πŸ˜—

from the NY Times:

Not only did Justice Engoron bar Mr. Trump for three years from serving in top roles at any New York company, including his own, but the judge also applied that punishment to the former president’s adult sons for two years and ordered that they pay more than $4 million each.

One of the sons, Eric Trump, is the Trump Organization’s de facto chief executive, and the ruling throws into doubt whether any member of the family can run the business in the near term.

EDIT:

Here is an unlocked link to the full NY Times article

Here is a link to the judgement (92 pages)

Ouch.

and his sons fined 4 million and barred from running the companies for 2 years so no one named Trump will be in charge of any company named Trump.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

This means only one thing: the fundraising is going to triple to ask for money to help "elect President Trump".

Trump just finished rambling on and on and on about anything and nothing, real stream of consciousness stuff.

The NY Times - This one’s going to sting

from today's editorial :

Donald Trump took a huge hit today in the two places where it tends to hurt him most: his wallet and his business-wizard image. ...

Whatever financial pain Trump now faces was rivaled by the damage the decision dealt to his ego and to his image as a jet-setting billionaire and take-charge chief executive, a carefully crafted public face that helped to vault him first into reality-television stardom and then into the White House. ...

An egomaniac with a broken ego?  πŸ˜Ÿ

Predictably, as usual, he's going to appeal πŸ™„

https://edition.cnn.com/politics/live-news/trump-civil-fraud-trial-decision-02-16-24/index.html

Where does this go next? He can't go straight to the Supreme Court, right?

I bet there's going to be a lot of tomato sauce on the walls at Maralago tonight.

quickymart:  Predictably, as usual, he's going to appeal πŸ™„

BUT

Trump will appeal the financial penalty but will have to either come up with the money [$355 million plus interest] or secure a bond within 30 days.

The ruling will not render him bankrupt, because most of his wealth is in real estate, which altogether is worth far more than the penalty.
