One of the sanest and bravest women in America - Sarah Matthews a former deputy press secretary to President Trump and a Republican.

Matthews' preference is a vote for Nikki Haley. If that is not possible she will vote for a Democrat to protect democracy (8:00).

Trump appeals ruling in New York civil fraud case

MSNBC

...
Reporter #1:We haven't seen any indicia of an undertaking or a bond that Trump and his co-defendants have posted in the amount of the underlying award.

Reporter #2: of course, that's multi-millions of dollars, hundreds of millions of dollars.

What about the interest every day, $111,000? Given that they've filed this appeal, does that put that on hold?

Reporter #1: no, it doesn't.

We don't have a stay on enforcement of the judgment either. That's because without that undertaking or bond, there is no pause in the proceedings.

That means that the attorney general can take steps to move ahead and enforce this judgement unless and until Trump posts that bond [for hundreds of millions of dollars].

Isn't it amazing that any "normal" American would likely be arrested and locked up (probably hunted down by a bounty hunter of some sort) for many of the things that Trump gets away with - contempt of court, failure to comply with court orders, failure to pay etc.

I do wonder at what point does the US legal system simply grow a spine and arrest, charge, lock up and summarily get rid of this orange buffoon?

In the case of the NY fraud case, he had 30 days from the date of the judgement to either pay or lodge the bond and file the appeal. At the moment the authorities are waiting for that clock to run out before they can take action. Probably won't see much from Trump's camp until the 30 days is nearly run out.

The NY Times - In Trump Criminal Case, Manhattan D.A. Asks for Gag Order Before Trial

Feb. 26, 2024

Manhattan prosecutors on Monday asked the judge overseeing their criminal case against Donald J. Trump to prohibit the former president from attacking witnesses or exposing jurors’ identities.

The requests, made in filings by the Manhattan district attorney’s office, noted Mr. Trump’s “longstanding history of attacking witnesses, investigators, prosecutors, judges, and others involved in legal proceedings against him.”

In outlining a narrowly crafted gag order, the office hewed closely to the terms of a similar order upheld by a federal appeals court in Washington in another of Mr. Trump’s criminal cases.

The gag order in the Manhattan case, if the judge approves it, would bar Mr. Trump from “making or directing others to make” statements about witnesses concerning their role in the case.

The district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, also asked that Mr. Trump be barred from commenting on prosecutors on the case - other than Mr. Bragg himself - as well as court staff members.

This looks interesting.

Interesting. According to the script the counter increases by $1.33c every second.

So 86400 seconds per day x $1.33 = $114,912.00 per day (I thing my maths is correct)

Pay up you orange buffoon.

I wonder if the interest is compounding. This would make the per\second cost slowly increase.

Newsweek - Donald Trump Tried to Corrupt Attorney in Classified Docs Case - Prosecutor

27 Feb 2024

Former President Donald Trump tried to corrupt his own attorney into hiding classified documents, prosecutors alleged.

When the attorney refused, Trump got two of his own assistants to hide the documents from the attorney and cover up the CCTV video evidence, according to the latest filing in Trump's classified documents case in Florida.

The document was filed on Monday on behalf of Special Counsel Jack Smith ... It was in response to a motion filed to Judge Aileen Cannon by Trump's lawyers, who claim the case is based on "vindictive prosecution" by President Joe Biden and the Democratic party. ...

"Failing in his effort to corrupt the attorney, Trump enlisted his trusted body man, codefendant Waltine Nauta, in a scheme to deceive the attorney by moving boxes to conceal [Trump's] continued possession of classified documents. As a result, Trump, through his attorney, again returned only a portion of the classified documents in his possession while falsely claiming that his production was complete," the document states.

From her book, she describes Trump’s penis as “smaller than average” but “not freakishly small”.

“He knows he has an unusual penis,” Daniels writes. “It has a huge mushroom head. Like a toadstool …

“I lay there, annoyed that I was getting f__ked by a guy with Yeti pubes and a dick like the mushroom character in Mario Kart ...

“It may have been the least impressive sex I’d ever had, but clearly, he didn’t share that opinion.”

The Independent: Trump tries to block Stormy Daniels from testifying at hush money trial as DA requests gag order

Donald Trump’s lawyers have moved to block the porn star Stormy Daniels, ex-Playboy model Karen McDougal and the businessman’s former fixer Michael Cohen from testifying at his New York hush money criminal trial, which is set to begin next month.

Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg accuses Mr Trump of falsifying business records in order to conceal payments made to Ms Daniels and Ms McDougal by Mr Cohen during the 2016 election in order to buy their silence about earlier extramarital affairs he is alleged to have had with both women.

By any other moral standard, this should be enough to show intent and get him in jail.

Sometimes it's the coverup.

It's also critically important for another reason. Trump is trying to argue the prosecution is vindictive. Noting the literal 0% success rate of this argument, the prosecution points out part of the test is "Is there anyone else with the exact same circumstances who was not prosecuted?" Trump's lawyers are obviously arguing that Biden hasn't been prosecuted for his (unintentional) mishandling.

This little tidbit is just another thing to throw on the pile showing absolutely clearly that Biden and Trump are not the same. Biden didn't try to corrupt and then secretly implicate his own lawyers!
