@SaltyNZ:

freitasm: Graduation is 7PM in Florida.

Fundraising event is dinner three-hour flight away.

It doesn't work.

Oh man I hate it when I finally get a day off my criminal trial for illegally hiding the payoff transaction used to shut the porn actor I had sex with while my wife was giving birth but then it turns out I have to choose between attending the high school graduation for the kid my third wife gave birth to while I was f***ing that porn star who I named after a fake name I used to use when I called up talkback radio stations to praise myself on air and going to a fundraiser to pay my hundred million dollar legal bills.

FTFY.

Barron is 18. I wonder how all this affects him. Does he care? Does he applaud his father? He must feel something. I would imagine he feels quite a lot.

I had a friend ask if Trump is found guilty in hush money case, will he go to jail immediately.

I'm about 90% he'll be sentenced to jail, unless there's a juror who hangs the verdict.

I was looking at the Harvey Weinstein rape case, because he was convicted of felony and immediately appealed.

But apparently the cases are not comparable; Weinstein went to jail because he was also convicted of rape in California.

During the appeal process, Trump it's likely he's remain free unless the court specifically orders his detention pending appeal.

Here's some government link, which weren't helpful.

As the famous phrase goes, I am not a lawyer but I would be very surprised if Trump sees the inside of a jail before Musk reaches Mars. He can and will appeal everything out to the furthest reaches of the Twilight Zone, and then do it all over again. He will probably expire of old age before the bars finally close on him.

Yes, it's looking that for sure. He will 100% be convicted in the hush money trial, but he won't be jailed until all his appeals have run out. ...

The year is 3256. Trump tribe shamans present their ritual appeal to the Supreme King of the Courts. He is expected to confer with his Council of the Nine and announce that a Hearing shall be held upon the winter solstice.

If it makes you feel better there's a good chance for contempt of court and a short stay on Rikers Island. Five days should be long enough.

I'm sure Trump will try "I've got bone spurs so I can't go to jail."

According to the New York Correction Law Section 508, a sheriff could allow treatment for his "bone spurs" in an outside hospital.

But this other ploy won't work for Trump: he's innocent because "affirmative defense of insanity" or "lack of criminal responsibility by reason of mental disease or defect"

In some cases, New York jails have transferred people with mental illnesses to maximum security prisons, even while they’re legally innocent.

The Georgia election racketeering alleges that Trump led a "criminal racketeering enterprise", in which he and 15 others "knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the outcome" of the 2020 U.S. presidential election in Georgia.

There's some whispers that the Georgia election racketeering prosecution will likely have a hard time getting Trump convicted before the presidential election In November.

A good part of the problem is all the Trump monkeys throwing feces covered monkey wrenches into the works, trying to stop forward movement.

Also the district attorney Fani Willis hired a special prosecutor Nathan Wade and they had a romantic relationship.
Judge Scott McAfee ruled that either Willis (along with her office) or Wade must leave the case, because their relationship brought about a "significant appearance of impropriety".

Willis committed a "tremendous lapse in judgment" and her "testimony during the evidentiary hearing" was "unprofessional", but "simply making bad choices – even repeatedly" does not establish an actual conflict of interest under Georgia law. Wade resigned.

The Georgia court holding is a slightly unusual appeal, effectively to stop Trump doing it. The good news it shouldn't slow down the case.

But again with so many shameless defendants, like Trump, trying to gum up the process, someone is bound to slow things down.

Written before the jury was chosen.

Newsweek: How a 'Stealth Juror' Could Sink Trump Hush Money Case

...
[There's a possibility] a Trump supporters is hiding their true intentions during voir dire—the process in which defense and prosecution attorneys ask potential jurors about their political beliefs before the jury is chosen.

"While the prosecution may appear to have the actuarial [statistical] advantage with a Manhattan jury, if only one of the 12 jurors is a Trump supporter they can hang the entire jury."

"Although jurors are asked questions during voir dire, some may gloss over their leanings to secure a spot on this jury," Kerwick said.

Former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance wrote that some Trump supporters are already openly hoping a stealth juror was chosen.

Jury nullification occurs when a jury accepts the prosecution evidence as true, but still acquits the person because they identify with the defendant or believe they have been treated unfairly.

"Prosecutors use their skills to try and detect these jurors and prevent them from being seated on the jury. The prosecutors involved in jury selection in this case have the combined experience for this," Vance wrote.

She said that Trump supporters "are publicly soliciting potential jurors to protect him" and she notes that "New York law prohibits conduct designed to influence the outcome of a proceeding through communications with a juror or a potential juror."

"The goal for Trump's team is a jury that can't reach a verdict, a jury that 'hangs,'" Vance wrote.

The Playboy playmate who had a long term affair with the married Trump is no longer going to testify, though she wanted to. It's been rumored that Stormy Daniels testimony was so good that it was a hat on a hat, not needed.

Previously when Trump's lawyer, Necheles, was trying to paint Stormy Daniels as a nymphomaniac who wanted only to have sex with Trump. Catching Trump's eye in court, she replied "no one would want to have sex with Trump."

CBS News: Stormy's tweets under the microscope
...
Necheles highlighted a series of tweets by Daniels that she alleged showed Daniels either belittled Trump, or attempted to profit over the case.

Daniels was shown a March tweet in which she said she's "the best person to flush the orange turd down."

Daniels pointed out that it was responding to another person who called her a "human toilet."

She also tried to parse Necheles' words.

"It doesn't say President Trump, it says 'orange turd.' If that's how you're going to interpret it, that's on you," Daniels said.

Necheles then showed tweets, beginning on March 30, 2023 — the day Trump was first indicted — celebrating the criminal cases against him. Some were paired with links to Daniels' merchandise store.

"You're celebrating indictments by selling things from your store," Necheles said.

"Not unlike Mr. Trump," Daniels shot back.
