Several experts have said that Trump's witness Robert Costello, who was supposed to be helping Trump, by trashing Michael Cohen.

Shockingly Robert Costello is a lawyer, so he should know he needs to affect the jury's thinking about Michael Cohen, but in reality made Trump look worse.

It appears that the Costello was playing to a one man audience, Trump, Costello came very close to contempt charges, and made Michael Cohen look better by comparison.

I have no doubt that Trump insisted Costello take the stand to vent Trump's feelings, transferring Trump's anger onto the judge.

AP News: Judge in Trump’s hush money trial threatened to remove witness from court for behavior on stand

The judge in Donald Trump’s hush money trial cleared the courtroom of reporters Monday and then threatened to remove the defense’s witness from the trial altogether because of his behavior on the stand, which included making comments under his breath and rolling his eyes, a court transcript showed.

Judge Juan M. Merchan told Robert Costello, a former federal prosecutor, that his conduct during testimony was contemptuous. Costello aggravated Merchan repeatedly in part by continuing to speak after objections were sustained — a signal to witnesses to stop talking. At one point, Costello remarked “jeez” when he was cut off by an objection. He also called the whole exercise “ridiculous.”
...
Merchan first sent the jury out of the courtroom to discuss proper decorum. He chided Costello for remarking “jeez” when he was cut off by a sustained objection and, at another point, “strike it.” Merchan told him: “I’m the only one that can strike testimony in the courtroom. Do you understand that?”

“And then if you don’t like my ruling, you don’t give me side eye and you don’t roll your eyes.”

Merchan was about to bring the jury back in when he asked Costello, “Are you staring me down right now?” and then kicked out the press to further admonish him.

Unrelated but New York state prisoners wear green jumpsuits, and a tshirt that's not blue, gray or black.

Orange is actually banned, because correction's riot control gear and uniforms are orange.

LOL, Trump thinks the judge needs to earn his respect. What-the-hell ever, you arrogant, conceited so-and-so 🙄

I was very happy to see his star witness get a dressing-down from the judge, it was very well-deserved, especially as the guy seemed to be chanelling Trump's anger towards the judge.

DJT Shares,
Its a reminder that just multiplying a shares traded price by number of shares may not be a companies realizable value.

Trumps backers have been convincing the true believers to both buy shares and lock up their shares so they can't be traded quickly.
Its very early days.

One day your Theranos shares makes you a 4.5 billionaire, later they are worthless and you are in prison.

There are shares and shares, value and value.
There is the share market of EPS, ROCE, etc, then there is share market of gambling.

Someone twitters a cartoon with a person holding a game controller and this happens.

Rawstory: 'Get me off this planet': Trump's 'Shakespeare in Love' quip spurs an epic cringe

Former President Donald Trump left court Monday after a defense witness was admonished in court for poor behavior to deliver an odd speech to reporters that was almost immediately mocked.

Trump stood in a Manhattan criminal court hallway and read from a legal pad and quoting people who came out in support of him, including a comment from Gregg Jarrett who asked "Where exactly is the crime?"

The former president then referenced a 1998 romantic comedy about a fictional production of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet."

"To quote a memorable line from 'Shakespeare in Love'," Trump said, "'I don't know. It's a mystery.'"

The quote is the catchphrase of the Rose theater owner Philip Henslowe, played by Geoffrey Rush, who claims, whenever faced with a potential crisis, that everything will turn out well.

NBC News: Trump won't testify and emails remain the credibility crunch. What you missed on Day 20 of the hush money trial.
...
After Trump defense witness] Costello denied mentioning his close friendship with Rudy Giuliani during his initial meeting with [Trump fixer] Cohen, which Cohen says he believed was an effort to pressure him into silence, a prosecutor showed an email in which Costello told his business partner that he had advised Cohen that he could prove useful to him because of his ties to Giuliani.

In an email, Costello told Cohen to “sleep well tonight, you have friends in high places,” referring to Trump, he conceded.

In another, Costello wrote about the need to get “Cohen on the right page without giving him the appearance that we are following instructions from Giuliani or the president. In my opinion, this is the clear and correct strategy.”

After Costello said it was incorrect to claim that he thought Cohen was trying to manipulate Trump, the prosecutor showed an email from the lawyer to his business partner, saying, "what should i say to this ass----, he is playing with the most powerful man on the planet.”
...
Jury deliberations are expected to start next Wednesday.

In Florida, you always have to set low expectations with low class people and high expectations for insanity.

With a Trump appointed judge in Florida, you'll have scant hope for justice.

You'll remember Mr Trump’s co-defendant and valet at Mar-a-largo was caught on tape removing documents so to evade justice, and has refused to cooperate.

A defense attorney has claimed he is up for a judgeship, months ago and places unknown. A folder appearing on a table months ago, with contents unknown, somehow amounted to extortion to pressure his client to cooperate. Somehow it slipped his mind to complain until months later.

Only in Florida, and of course the Judge leaped at the opportunity to delay the trial further.

Hopefully no one remembers malicious salt-and-pepper shakers that appeared some months ago.

CNN: Florida hearing in Trump classified documents case devolves into shouting match

During a marathon day of proceedings in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case, a morning hearing in front of Judge Aileen Cannon devolved into a shouting match amongst the attorneys, and the afternoon series of arguments prompted the judge to wonder if the legal nuances of the case may be too difficult for jurors to understand.

The heated arguments played out in a morning proceeding in Fort Pierce, Florida, that had been scheduled for Walt Nauta, one of former President Donald Trump’s co-defendants, to present arguments that special counsel Jack Smith’s team had selectively and vindictively brought charges against him.

But the hearing quickly diverted into a longstanding disagreement over an August 2022 meeting between prosecutor Jay Bratt and Nauta’s defense attorney, Stanley Woodward. Woodward has claimed in court proceedings and filings that Bratt attempted to pressure him into convincing Nauta to cooperate against Trump by threatening to affect a potential judgeship nomination. Cannon did not issue a ruling from the bench on Nauta’s motion that the case be dismissed on those grounds.

Nor did Cannon rule on a motion she heard during an afternoon session Wednesday, brought by all three of the case’s defendants, who claimed that the indictment suffers technical flaws that required the dismissal of the charges.

Cannon seemed skeptical of those arguments, while also expressing concern about a jury’s ability to understand legal nuances in the case at a future trial.

Given her track record of making sure everything goes Trump's way, does it matter what the jury understands?

This situation reminds me of the, “The Boiling Frog,” is a metaphor that illustrates the dangers of failing to notice gradual changes that lead to harmful consequences. Here’s the basic idea:

If you place a frog in boiling water, it will immediately jump out to escape the danger. However, if you put a frog in a pot of cool water and slowly heat it, the frog will not perceive the gradual increase in temperature and will remain in the water until it eventually boils to death.

This story is used to illustrate how people or organizations can become desensitized to gradual changes or threats, failing to recognize the need for action until it’s too late. It serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of awareness and timely intervention in the face of slow but potentially disastrous developments.

The metaphor is real but the story behind it is bollocks.  If you place a frog in boiling water, it will die.  If you put a frog in a pot of cool water and slowly heat it it will jump out when it gets too warm, assuming it doesn't just jump out beforehand because it feels like it.
