Reckon, and again he deflects what he sees as the cause of high egg prices: Biden.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-egg-prices-shut-up-b2712527.html

Speaking next to a table of packaged goods during an August press conference, Trump promised, should he be re-elected, to lower grocery prices on “day one.”

“Grocery prices have skyrocketed. Cereals are up 26 percent, bread is up 24 percent, butter is up 37 percent, baby formula is up 30 percent, flour is up 38 percent, and eggs are up 46 percent,” he said. “When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on day one.”

More recently, in his speech to Congress last week, Trump said: “Joe Biden especially let the price of eggs get out of control. The egg prices out of control. And we are working hard to get it back down.”

But over the weekend, he signaled he may have had enough of discussing the rising costs when he shared on Truth Social conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s Daily Caller article titled “Shut Up About Egg Prices — Trump Is Saving Consumers Millions.”

Funny, he eventually got bored of talking about coronavirus, too. And we all know how well that one turned out in the US 🙄

Interesting article which dissects Trumps tariff thinking and as usual he has no understanding of it apart from rich will get richer and ignores the remaining 90% of the population.

Trump loves the Gilded Age and its tariffs. It was a great time for the rich but not for the many

Read all the way through to this 'punch' line at the very end: "The day after his Buffalo speech, McKinley was shot by anarchist Leon Czolgosz. He died on Sept. 14, 1901."

We can only hope, except there are two other sycophants in direct line after him.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

To flee the coop before the economy eggs-ploded and democracy got scrambled.

Now everyone's just winging it.

With egg prices continuing to sky rocket, could "Rent The Chicken" ease the pain in a Northeast American Rust Belt city?: CBS News
...
Now, the big question: what does it cost?

"Our rental package starts with two hands a coup that fits two hands for the Western Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh area at about $500," she said. "That includes delivery and pickup within our free delivery area, which is likely most of Pittsburgh."

Before renting the chicken, of course, check with your municipality to see if they are allowed.

However, the savings might not be as much as you might think. Running the quick math, $500 for 26 weeks and a dozen eggs per week, that comes to about $19 per dozen, which is more than the price at the grocery store.

Trump and Musk plan on cutting money on safety net Programs instead of the "elephants in the room" military spending, and raising taxes on the rich.

As mentioned in the 1950s, the top marginal tax rate was 91%, for those earning over $2 million in today’s dollars, adjusted for inflation.

Today's top marginal tax rate is 37%. He is proposing to extend the 2017 tax cuts, which are set to expire in 2025.

Sounds like the US is ripe for revolution.

From January 2024 CNBC report (based on a LendingClub survey), 63% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.

This includes people across income levels—even 4 in 10 high-income earners (making over $100,000 a year).

It rises to 71% for Millennials ages 27–42.

The Washington Post - Trump announced an extraordinary level of tariffs on Canada

today

As the stock market and businesses showed deepening anxiety about the direction of the economy under President Donald Trump, on Tuesday he doubled tariffs that he had just put on Canada’s steel and aluminum.

They start Wednesday, meaning that any home builder, carmaker or construction company that uses these raw materials needs to find a new supplier ASAP, or pay 50 percent more to get them across the border.

This is likely to end up as a tax that is passed on to consumers, economists say, raising prices. ...

But worse is the maddening amount of uncertainty that Trump’s back-and-forth on tariffs is creating, say experts. Why would businesses make big purchases if they don’t know what new tariffs could be coming a day later …

There is something wrong with the cartoon. The cannon on the right is too small to scale. The EU cannon is operational and is currently carrying out manoeuvre exercises. It will only bring disadvantages for everyone (except for Putin), but if it is necessary?

If Agent Orange already thinks that the EU was only founded as a disadvantage for the USA (what self-centred nonsense) then he should also feel that Actio=Reactio. The pain of separation from previously accustomed reason also passes when one has realised that it can no longer be taken for granted. A relapse into nationalism is always wrong in times of close global structures and networks - regardless of ideology or political orientation.

At the end of the day, we only have this planet earth to look after together.

The S&P 500 is a stock market index that tracks the performance of 500 of the largest publicly traded companies in the U.S. It’s often used as a measure of how the U.S. economy or stock market is doing overall.

The Nasdaq is a major U.S. stock exchange, known for listing many tech companies like Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, and Google. It’s also the name of an index that tracks around 100 top tech-heavy stocks.

US stock market loses $4 trillion in value as Trump plows ahead on tariffs: Reuters
  • Tesla loses more than $125 billion in value in one day

  • S&P 500 down over 8% from February 19 all-time high

  • Nasdaq confirmed 10% correction from its Dec peak last week

  • Delta Air Lines cuts forecast on growing economic uncertainty

President Donald Trump’s tariffs have spooked investors, with fears of an economic downturn driving a stock market sell-off that has wiped out $4 trillion from the S&P 500’s peak last month, when Wall Street was cheering much of Trump's agenda.

A barrage of new Trump policies has increased uncertainty for businesses, consumers and investors, notably back-and-forth tariff moves against major trading partners like Canada, Mexico and China.

"We've seen clearly a big sentiment shift," said Ayako Yoshioka, senior investment strategist at Wealth Enhancement. "A lot of what has worked is not working now."

The S&P 500 on Monday closed down 8.6% from its February 19 record high, shedding over $4 trillion in market value since then and nearing a 10% decline that would represent a correction for the index. The tech-heavy Nasdaq ended Thursday down more than 10% from its December high.

Answer for Agent Orange - US products that are subject to counter-tariffs in the EU: (preliminary, not exhaustive)

  • Bourbon whiskey | I prefer Irish, Scotch, Canadian.
  • jeans | I'm past that age. I can afford real trousers.
  • motorbikes | These uncultivated, noisy US rattlers?
  • boats | No need for boats.
  • peanut butter | I buy them in organic quality and unsweetened from other countries anyway.
  • poultry | The chlorine corpses are at most for fast food here, which I avoid.
  • beef |I only buy locally in organic quality.
  • certain seafood | Canadian lobster and fish is welcome. 😁
  • nuts | There are plenty of alternatives to peanuts and almonds.
  • eggs | Seriously? 🤣
  • dairy products | Hello, we have Italian ice cream!
  • soya beans | Available from other sources.
  • sugar | Used too much anyway.
  • vegetables | We'll have to ask the Mexicans, otherwise more of our own vegetables.

This will not come as a price shock to EU consumers, but it will hit (republican) US producers all the harder.

Australian Pauline Hanson is described as a nationalist, The question is what nation.

The other question is why there are so many damaged people in conservative politics?

Australian One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson throws support behind Donald Trump's tariffs, says US President has 'no time' for Anthony Albanese and Kevin Rudd : SkyNews

Pauline Hanson has thrown her support behind Donald Trump's tariffs as she said it was clear the US President has "no time" for Anthony Albanese and Kevin Rudd.

Speaking on Sky News Australia's The Kenny Report on Wednesday night, the One Nation leader said imposing taxes on imported products was a good thing.

"I believe in tariffs, put 'em on," the Queensland Senator told host Chris Kenny.

Senator Hanson made the remarks hours after it emerged the Albanese government failed to secure an exemption from the Trump administration's tariffs on steel and aluminium.

Australia will now be subject to the 25 per cent tariffs, in a decision the Prime Minister has called "concerning", "entirely unjustified" and "against the spirit" of Australia and US relations.

Asked about whether it was a "bad move by Donald Trump, where Australia should expect better treatment", Senator Hanson said she backed the President's stance on tariffs in order to protect American industries.

She also flagged only a Dutton government could make any inroads with Trump, and not the Albanese government.

"There's two prongs to this. The way I think about is that Trump indicated that he wanted to put tariffs on products to protect American industries and manufacturing and jobs. And I support him on that," Senator Hanson said.
