Reuters - Greenland's prime minister says the United States will not get Greenland

COPENHAGEN, March 30 (Reuters) - The United States will not get Greenland, Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said on Sunday in a post on Facebook in response to Donald Trump's statements he wants to take control of the vast Arctic country.

"President Trump says that the United States is getting Greenland. Let me be clear: The United States won't get that. We do not belong to anyone else. We determine our own future," Nielsen said in the social media post.

Trump on Saturday told NBC News he "absolutely" had real conversations about annexing the semi-autonomous Danish territory.

"We'll get Greenland. Yeah, 100%," Trump said, according to NBC.

During a visit to a U.S. military base in the north of Greenland on Friday, U.S. Vice President JD Vance accused Denmark of not doing a good job of keeping the island safe and suggested the United States would better protect the strategically located island.

The recent Vance visit to Greenland was an embarrassing public relations fiasco.  🤕

The Crooked Crypto President

Reuters -  How the Trump family took over a crypto firm as it raised hundreds of millions

March 31 (Reuters) - As World Liberty Financial raised more than half a billion dollars, President Donald Trump’s family took control of the crypto venture and grabbed the lion’s share of those funds, aided by governance terms that industry experts say favor insiders.

Launched last fall, World Liberty’s goal is to allow people to access financial services using cryptocurrencies and without intermediaries like banks in what is called decentralized finance, or DeFi.

Summary

  •     The Trump family has a claim on 75% of net revenues from World Liberty's token sales
  •     World Liberty's tokens are non-tradeable; holders cannot vote for a share in profits
  •     Critics warn of potential conflicts of interest with president's involvement in crypto
  •     Over $280 million has been raised from buyers purchasing $1 million or more in $WLFI tokens

and ... the perfect vehicle for governments or oligarchs overseas to funnel money to Trump.  🙄

Trump has become a caricature of himself.

The Washington Post -  Opinion - Lord, liberate us from Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’

today

Lord, liberate us from President Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day,” as Trump has christened this coming Wednesday.

Trump has already “liberated” his country from the inconvenience of due process or expectations of civil rights.

But his freedom crusade escalates this week, when he shall also “liberate” America from affordable cars, a stable economy and its closest allies.

On Wednesday, Trump will unleash a new round of global trade wars. ...

This Trump-style “liberation” is getting awfully expensive - and lonely.

Trump has done more for increasing Canadian patriotism than even Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau repatriating the Canadian Constitution from Britain in 1982, giving Canada full legal independence.

Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Canada’s seventh Prime Minister:

"Let me tell you, my fellow countrymen, that it is not by the blood of war, but by the constructive work of peace that Canada will gain greatness."

Small container ships charged the same as large ships, because Trump, Musk and co are moving quickly and breaking things.

So small Caribbean and South American ships loaded with bananas will make them incredibly expensive in the US.

It also will likely become a trade war, as each country retaliates.

Trump Port Levies On Chinese Ships Could Mean Billion-Dollar ‘Trade Apocalypse’ Industry Executives Say: Gcaptain
...
The proposal is part of President Donald Trump’s efforts to revitalize domestic shipbuilding. It would levy between $1m and $3m on Chinese ships calling at U.S. ports and fees could in some cases reach as high as $3.5m.

Over a third of the global trading fleet has been built by Chinese yards, with U.S.-made vessels accounting for just 0.4 percent. An estimated 83 percent of box carriers calling at U.S. ports last year would have been subject to the fees, with somewhat lower figures for car carriers and crude tankers, at two-thirds and one-third respectively,
...
In an effort to reduce the number of port calls, vessel operators would likely begin using larger vessels concentrating traffic in just a handful of major ports, further stressing logistic chains.

Great overview of Trump's Ukraine rare earths deal, skip about the first four minutes if you really want to avoid the intro-to-rare-earths section but I'd say it's worth watching anyway:

Another genius Trump deal.  I hope Zelenskyy does promise him all the rare earths he can find in Ukraine in exchange for a deal.

Don't keep bothering the boy. After all, he's been given a 14-day extension for EU tariffs to think the whole thing over again. 😁
