(I also note he wore a blue suit to a funeral - of course I'm sure James pointed this out to him before he left, since he did it to Zelensky 🙄)

I remember after the orange buffoon lost in 2020, Rudy set up an "election fraud hotline" which basically became a joke, with "tips" being submitted consisting of pornography and male genitalia

(refresher: https://www.businessinsider.com/giuliani-election-fraud-hotline-dick-pics-animal-porn-book-2021-7)

It didn't quite have the intended effect he was hoping for, but was unintentionally hilarious.

Now we have a MAGA version of Trademe basically, which is also fast becoming the place to go to let you know which businesses to avoid so you don't support Trump:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/website-maga-friendly-businesses-backfires-100029564.html

“MAGA has made it easy for all of us to avoid their businesses,” he wrote under his Reddit name, Hour-Abbreviations18. “A couple years ago, they introduced a website – publicsq.com — to promote MAGA businesses. We can use that same tool to make informed purchasing decisions.”

Some people have sought out PublicSquare’s own Facebook page to let them know their site has been a huge help to people eager to do something to protest Trump’s policies.

Again, not being used for the purpose for which it was designed, and (unintentionally) hilarious 😀

Recommended reading - hard to summarize :

The NY Times - Trump’s Biggest Beneficiary: Himself  (free unlocked link)

today

No presidential administration is completely free from questionable ethics practices, but Donald Trump has pushed us to a new low.

He has accomplished that by breaking every norm of good government, often while enriching himself, whether by pardoning a felon who, together with his wife, donated $1.8 million to the Trump campaign; promoting Teslas on the White House driveway; or holding a private dinner for speculators who purchase his new cryptocurrency.

Mr. Trump’s blatant transgressions have swamped those of any modern president ...

[headings only]

  • He Eliminated Guardrails
  • He Fired Potential Resisters
  • He Rewarded His Wealthiest Donors
  • He Went All In on Cryptocurrency

It’s all a sorry and sordid picture, a president who had already set a new standard for egregious and potentially illegal behavior hitting new lows with metronomic regularity.

The Washington Post - Canada goes to vote in an election shadowed by Trump

today

On Monday, Canadians vote in an election transformed by their most conspicuous neighbor to the south.

At the start of the year, it seemed a foregone conclusion that time was up for the center-left Liberals, who had been in power for a decade under increasingly unpopular Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. ...

Then, President Donald Trump showed up on the scene.

His threats and later implementation of damaging 25 percent tariffs on many goods from Canada hurt ordinary Canadians and provoked retaliatory measures.

His constant belittling of Canada as the “51st state” bewildered and infuriated Canadians. ...

Amid a surge of nationalist sentiment, Trudeau decided to bow out and triggered a Liberal party leadership contest that saw the victory of Mark Carney, the suave former governor of the Bank of Canada and Bank of England.

Carney [warned] about the peril posed by Trump and vowed to champion Canada’s interests through a clash it never wanted. Sensing a change in the political winds, he called an early election.

Canada’s “old relationship with the United States, based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation, is over,” the new prime minister declared. ...

EDIT:

breaking:

The Washington Post - In stunning comeback, Carney’s Liberals win Canada’s federal election

The result marked a reversal in fortunes for a party that was on track for a massive drubbing only months ago and capped a campaign upended by Trump.

I can almost hear the whistling from the wind above Trump's head as the cardinal statement go over his head.

Pope Francis wanted to ‘build bridges, not walls’, cardinal tells funeral in apparent swipe at Trump: The Independent
...
Cardinal Battista Re said the pope “incessantly raised his voice” for peace and urged people to “build bridges not walls”.
...
Cardinal Re recalled a comment made in 2016 by Pope Francis
...
“A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,” said Pope Francis. “This is not in the gospel.”

Mr Trump responded: “For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful.”

Larry David goes full Godwin on Bill Maher's recent 'meeting' with Trump:

Independent: Larry David essay ‘My Dinner with Adolf’ skewers Bill Maher’s dinner with Trump. The piece in the Times recounts a fictional fawning dinner with Adolf Hitler – the “most reviled man in history” – in 1939 that parrots much of Maher’s language about his meeting with Trump. “I had been a vocal critic of his on the radio from the beginning, pretty much predicting everything he was going to do on the road to dictatorship,”

I have not watched Maher's video. David might have been better starting his missive at some time in '33. Other than that it's easy to see where David is coming from. Flag nailed firmly to the mast and definitely not taking it down.

The Washington Post - Trump’s first 100 days, in 10 charts

29 April 2025

As President Donald Trump passes his 100th day back in office, some key features of this presidency are already coming into focus: the colossal amount of money he raised to celebrate his inauguration; his historic use of executive orders from Day 1 to quickly reshape government; the market slump in reaction to his tariff policies; and his 100-day approval rating, lower than any seen in nearly a century.

Same for Canada. After 10 years in power they were going to be ousted in short order. But they won yesterday, albeit narrowly, all thanks to Trump and the resultant pushback for Canadians voting Conservative

They also voted to reduce the Liberal's power, so its a minority Govt, but a Govt nonetheless

Media commentators see this could be a trend globally. Nothing wrong with either a centre left or centre right Govt, but the left/right gap with Trump and others is very much widening

Enjoy the Trump unpopularity charts while you can: they'll soon be outlawed.

When unpopularity charts are outlawed, only outlaws will be unpopular -- oh look, Trump is already an outlaw. :-D
