Keerist MTG! You're obviously totally unaware that Democrats and most of the world's population would rather have festering sores on their genitals than have Trump in the Oval Office.

Apparently, many countries are ripping the US off due to the trade imbalance between them. So they are tariffed.

I fail to see why the trade imbalance is an issue

tdgeek:Newsworthy. Say it long enough and often enough, it becomes true. It could be a modern and larger prison elsewhere, but not newsworthy. Trump should retire from being an idiot and run a PR company.

It's the same way he sold property. Why change a winning formula when you're winning? So much winning you would not believe it

The trade imbalance Trumplicans talk of seems to be is easily counted 'physical things'
Cars, steel, aluminum, random things from aliexpress.

Cherry picking stats for their argument.

FRONT LAWN- THE BEAUTIFUL THINGS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xX1wklih86s&t

Probably uncounted.
The virtual monopoly that USA has on services like Facebook, Google, Microsoft, X, Instagram, Oracle, Netflix, Apples walled garden that takes a cut of everything, Steam, software licenses.

Things like Rocketlab, starts here and then becomes an American Company.
Watties in NZ, profits slosh of back to Kraft in America

Laptop nominally made in China, has Intel, Marvell, Nvidia and others IP or chips that these companies in USA are earning money for USA on.
Even the chips made in Taiwan, its once again Apple, Nvidia etc, make lions share of the money not the chip fab, which was what made 'fabless' attractive investments.

Laptop may also be a Dell or HP where extra profits from China assembly and materials go back to USA.

Never mind fancy food for fancy restaurants like Southern Toothfish USA does not have, that the American restaurant makes its profit from that goes into the economy.

Is the Trade Imbalance really as they present it ?
Considering the wealth of America, where 9 of the 10 most wealthy in the world come from.
USA is generating wealth, plenty of it. but Trump, Elon and pals are hording it.

AlterNet - The flimsy excuse and the high cost of a military parade for Trump's birthday

08 May 2025

Initial planning for observance of the Army’s 250th birthday did not include a parade. ...

Shortly thereafter, though, creative minds in the White House saw opportunity and determined the Army’s Semiquincentennial, as 250th anniversaries are called, was the perfect cover to link the President’s 80th birthday and “to get this parade that President Trump has been wanting” said a staffer.

Trump’s hopes for a military parade down Pennsylvania Avenue in 2019 during his first term, à la the Bastille Day extravaganza, were deflated by costs estimated near $92 million. ...

Cost estimates of Trump’s grandiose 2025 birthday parade are yet to be made public ...

But then again, we need remember who this guy thinks he is: "... I run the country and the world,” he recently told The Atlantic magazine.

A few Trump-related cartoons for your Saturday morning:

The orange buffoon (still?) sulking about not being elected pope:

New Canadian PM repeats what Trump's been told (at least) a dozen times:

Tariffs, indeed:

I wonder what percentage of the MAGA crowd are actually like this (100%?) ?

Reuters - Judge orders temporary halt to Trump administration's mass layoff plans

WASHINGTON, May 9 - President Donald Trump's administration must temporarily halt efforts to implement a February 26 executive order that directed government agencies to develop reorganization plans and to prepare for large-scale staffing cuts, a federal judge said on Friday.

U.S. District Judge Susan Illston in San Francisco sided with a group of unions, non-profits and local governments, and blocked large-scale mass layoffs known as "reductions in force" for 14 days.

"Federal courts should not micromanage the vast federal workforce, but courts must sometimes act to preserve the proper checks and balances between the three branches of government," wrote Illston.

"As a group of conservative former government officials and advisors have written to the court, 'Unchecked presidential power is not what the Framers had in mind'."

Probably a good better description of the website:
  • Wealth vulture
  • Profit colonist
  • Capital raider
Australia and Canada Get Trumped to NZ’s Advantage: Wealth Morning
...
This is a golden time to reach out to prosperous Australians to promote the benefits New Zealand offers
  • No tax on capital gains — realised or unrealised.
  • Lower top tax rate (39% vs 45% in Australia).
  • No stamp duty on property purchases. On an A$1 million house in Victoria, this can be almost $60,000!
  • No Medicare levy (2% in Australia).
  • Less bureaucracy and a more business-friendly government in NZ.
  • Australia has much higher government costs (A$597 to register a company, up to $1,567 a year to register a V8!)
  • Auckland is materially cheaper to buy or rent housing compared with Sydney or Melbourne.
So, are you an investor or entrepreneur in Australia or Canada?

Are you sick of your efforts to build wealth and jobs being frustrated by left-leaning governments on repeat?

Well, for now, New Zealand offers a bastion of hope without excess of heat or frost.

It is not Trump’s fault that Australia and Canada voted to retain left-leaning governments.

Summary: "I like Trump, and even willing to be a cuck, but our existence rely on illegal farm workers locally and tariff free markets overseas."

Northwest farmers reckon with Trump’s immigration policies: Seattle Times
...
Farmers throughout Washington state [home of Seattle, Microsoft and Boeing] and indeed the USA, who tend to lean right. In largely agricultural Grant County, for instance, Trump won 67% of November’s vote. Yet, if Trump carries through with his plans, the agriculture industry could not continue operating as it does now.

As the president’s immigration crackdown ramps up and spring kicks off labor-intensive work on many farms, owners and employees are trying to figure out what vast changes in immigration policies mean for them and an industry that in Washington produces goods valued most recently at $14 billion a year.

Calm prevails on the surface in some quarters, while anything but can be seen in others — along with stirrings of dissent.

“While farmers applaud the federal government’s efforts to protect Americans from anyone perpetrating criminal acts, the current crackdown threatens the future of our farms and our entire food system, and fails to provide meaningful reform,” read a February statement by the advocacy organization Save Family Farming. “The mishandling of deportation policies has created an atmosphere of fear, silencing voices and stripping away the dignity of those who contribute daily to our nation’s food supply.”

“Even those with papers are concerned about being wrongly targeted,” elaborated Dillon Honcoop, a spokesperson for the group, characterizing the federal government’s approach as “arrest first, ask questions later.”

Chinese shipping dodging tariffs by masterfully using Adam Smith's invisible hand.

How China Is Dodging US Tariffs: NewsWeek

Some Chinese exporters are routing goods through third countries to skirt the steep tariffs the United States has imposed on the world's second-largest economy.

Chinese social media platforms are increasingly being courted by freight brokers offering the service since the Trump administration hiked duties on Chinese imports to as high as 245 percent.
