For those of you who thnk Trump's policies won't affect non-USA citizens, it started already: "President Donald Trump reinstated an executive order Monday barring US foreign aid from going to any nongovernmental organization (NGO) that either provides abortion services, or even discusses abortion with its patients as an option for family planning."

The reality is simple and brutal. Reinstating the global gag rule will not reduce abortions. Sub-Saharan Africa, for instance, had higher abortion rates after George W. Bush reinstated the gag rule, because it reduced women’s access to contraception and caused more unwanted pregnancies, which women then chose to terminate.

The gag rule will, however, lead to more women dying across the developing world. Marie Stopes International, a major global family planning organization, estimates that without alternative funding, the loss of its services alone will cause 6.5 million unintended pregnancies, 2.2 million abortions, 2.1 million unsafe abortions, and 21,700 maternal deaths just in Trump’s first term, from 2017 to 2020. The organization says it will also be prevented from reaching 1.5 million women with contraception every year.

Ironically this would've been done under the guise of "pro-life". This must be a subjective term, as lives will be most likely lost as a result of this move. It won't stop abortions, but will instead make it much harder to obtain safe ones. It'll also mean an increase in unwanted births, and the associated social cost that can come with this.

Aren't you the one worried about your job in America?

That won't stop me from standing up for injustices when I see them.

I'm also not filled with enough self-importance to think that Drumpf would actually target me personally.

Also worth noting that Children are the most defenceless of all victims which to my mind makes it even worse. I don't think her apology is enough in this instance. I tend to be fairly forgiving and believe people make mistakes, but this one, wow.

A male vice-chancellor would have been forced to resign already.

I'm not getting the vice chancellor bit. It was a tweet from a Saturday night live writer that networkn linked?

Saturday Night Live is a humor show. I agree this kind of thing crosses the line by a long way. Clearly they have no sensible guidelines when it comes to things like that.

I don't see any reason for these shows to mention Barron Trump, for similar reasons networkn outlined earlier.

It will be President Snow this weekend..

And Trump still going on saying that he lost the popular vote because of three to five million fraudulent votes.

We should all tweet him daily reminding him who won the popular vote. It obviously weighs heavily on him.

Yeah, great idea, let's piss off the most powerful man in the world, known to be vindictive, irrational and unreasonable. Sounds smart!

Do it anyway.  Sounds brave.

Well, obviously it was about the three inauguration balls, :-)  where they were looking at getting people in due to low numbers!!  I can't find a link, maybe it was media gossip.

But it was on a website so it must be true....

cool

$50 tickets, cash bar. I'm sure I read somewhere they didn't sell out either.

I did read that. But the one that caught my eye was that he was seeking people to attend.
You would think that an event like these would be the invited and connected,.

I believe that this executive order is issued each time the ruling party changes. I agree with the sentiments but this order is bau. Which in itself is dumb. Let's spend two years winding back the last presidents last two years. Then two tn do it my way, rinse and repeat

Maybe he'll do something as dirty as Nixon did, while in office and be the second POTUS to resign?

Yeh well he needs to get over it and move on. He will only look immature winging like a child, he won the election anyway, why does he care.

Maybe he will mix his personal business with POTUS business....this would get him impeached.

Potentially. But republicans will need to want to impeach him he would have to upset them a bit more first.. I may be wrong but it's senators who vote at an impeachment hearing?

And Trump still going on saying that he lost the popular vote because of three to five million fraudulent votes.

And here's a thing - some qualified advice to US media - and probably what Trump's up to (unless he's psychotic - which I wouldn't totally discount):

https://www.pri.org/stories/2017-01-23/russian-journalist-has-little-advice-his-american-counterparts

And when it comes to the president’s tweets on this or that topic, Kovalev says, “People are completely obsessing over it, and it’s dominating the headlines, and that’s exactly the point. To keep you distracted … and meanwhile while you’re distracted with these public statements, they’re passing bills quietly that will go unreported because everybody else is too busy.”

Kovalev calls information like the Trump team’s inflated and inaccurate estimates of his inauguration crowds, the “chaff that’s thrown out to distract you from what really matters.”

So his simple advice in what he calls the “era of BS” for his US colleagues is this: “Don’t overreact. Remember you have this advantage of being able to influence public policy so do this, because the people, at some point, will stop caring. They will put out so many obvious lies that at some point the public will begin to wonder whether objective truth exists at all. They will stop caring like they did in Russia. So don’t concentrate or obsess over these nonsensical and factually untrue statements. Just concentrate on the acts, not the words.”

Prelude to war with China?

Hopefully not - but a prelude to very tense situation between China and the USA - certainly.
