ROFL. These Russian trolls trying to sell the idea that Trump is trying to stop "child sacrificing":

Meme of white tall Jesus cradling Trump.

As a side note, AI depicted Jesus as taller than Trump who's over 6 feet 2 inches (188 centimetres). Average height of men at the time was 168 cm, about 5ft 6in. So Jesus is at least mathematically 6.6 standard deviations.

Meaning Jesus as depicted would be well under 1 in 1,000 men, similar to Kareem Abdul‑Jabbar to modern man

About the Russian venting. I think the Russian's (and Trump) are grumpy because best bud Viktor Orban, the prime minister of Hungary, got the boot.

Already in denial, Kremlin declares Putin was ‘never friends with Orban’ after historic election defeat

They are quick to try and disassociate themselves from 'losers'.

You have to be a complete idiot to buy something like this.

"A fool and his money are soon parted".

Also, Trump is the least religious US president, ever (AFAIK).

The Washington Post - Opinion - Trump’s pointless Fed threats continue

The courts and the Senate won’t let him take over the central bank.

16 April 2026

President Donald Trump’s campaign against the Federal Reserve resumed this week, as he threatened to fire Chair Jerome Powell and the Justice Department sent prosecutors to inspect construction at the central bank’s headquarters.

It’s a pointless standoff that the president will lose.

The question is how much he spooks markets and damages his own political standing before this is over.

Trump is frustrated with Powell for not cutting interest rates as fast as he would like.

His Justice Department opened a criminal investigation of Powell, related to his testimony about the Fed’s renovations, and sent him subpoenas earlier this year. A federal judge threw them out last month.

The Don is swimming against the tide. Again.  😒

This is important. I urge you to read the full letter.

AlterNet - Top psychiatrists issue urgent letter to Congress about Trump's mental instability   (unlocked)

Extracts from a letter sent to the bipartisan leadership of Congress on Monday, April 13, 2026 in regard to recent rhetoric and actions taken by US President Donald J. Trump.

Senator John Thune - Senate Majority Leader, US Senate
Senator Charles E. Schumer - Senate Minority Leader, US Senate
Representative Mike Johnson - Speaker of the House, US House of Representatives
Representative Hakeem Jeffries - House Minority Leader, US House of Representatives

President Trump exhibits what forensic mental health experts have, across dozens of independent assessments, identified as the “Dark Triad” of personality traits: narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy. ...

Individuals with Dark Triad profiles, when confronted with situations they cannot control or escape, do not recalibrate. They escalate.

The psychological imperative to relieve narcissistic collapse overrides strategic calculation, concern for consequences, and ordinary self-restraint. Rage surges to domination. Impulsivity overrides caution. ...

We are watching this dynamic unfold in real time. ...

He is a constitutional emergency. ...

The psychological conditions driving the President’s decisions will not improve under pressure - they will worsen. ...

Be afraid.  😟

If AI is to be believed, and I think it is in this case, there are no restraints whatsoever on Trump's ability to launch a nuke if the fancy takes him. No second keys, no procedures, no safety checks. Just the codes that he has access to at all times. The system was designed this way for the cold war era and has never been changed. The only thing that might save us all would be some military person in the chain of command who decided not to do her duty. That is a pretty fragile thread.

Vice president JD Vance.

To quote Groucho Marx: "He may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot but don't let that fool you. He really is an idiot.”

From JD Vance at the Conservative Love Fest (minus the love)

"I recognize that a lot of young voters don't love the policy that we have in the Middle East, OK? I understand that. What I'm saying is don't get disengaged because you disagree with the administration on one topic. Get more involved. Make your voice heard even more. That's how we ultimately take the country back. "

So JD Vance wants to take back the country, from himself?

What almost no one remembers is JD Vance took over Finance Chair of the Republican National Committee, managing Republican fundraising efforts. Nothing corrupt about that. 🙄

kingdragonfly: Not to beat a dead messiah, but Trump's AI picture is classic Christian iconography.

The white "toga" represents purity, holiness, Christ’s divine nature. It is the color of heavenly beings and resurrection.

Meme of the day 😀

IT occurs to me to wonder if Orbán deserves any credit for accepting the result of the election. He seems to be bowing out gracefully, which frankly surprises me. Or maybe he just didn't have any choice?

The Bulwark had a piece about exactly this the other day: https://www.thebulwark.com/p/maga-international-goes-down-in-flames-orban-magyar-hungary-trump-elections-iran-war-peace-talks-pakistan-strait-hormuz-blockade

Then, unexpectedly, around 9:15 p.m. local time, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán phoned opposition leader Péter Magyar to congratulate him. Minutes later, Orbán delivered a concession speech that, if not exactly gracious, was nonetheless honorable and fully in line with democratic expectations. Fears that Orbán would not acknowledge defeat proved unfounded.

So, Hungary may have (hopefully) shown the orange buffoon the correct way to do it 🤞

Orban's gerrymandering worked for a while until his support failed:

https://washingtonmonthly.com/2026/04/16/how-viktor-orban-got-rolled-by-his-own-gerrymander/

During Orban's term there was massive privatization of nearly everything. Orban and his corrupt cronies have apparently done very well. They probably don't care much about the election loss.

Needless to say the new guy was elected on an anti-corruption platform. In practice it will be very difficult to get those assets back. Probably won't happen.

The NY Times - See how President Trump’s proposed arch would dwarf other monumental arches

15 April 2026

The federal Commission of Fine Arts on Thursday preliminarily approved plans for a hulking 250-foot “triumphal arch” to celebrate America’s 250th birthday ...

The Trump administration was asked to return with updated drawings before a final vote by the panel, which is stacked with Trump allies and holds only an advisory role.

Note the tiny (red) human figure at bottom right to get a sense of scale.

In a word : hideous  🙄

Polymarket Asked To Work With Us. We Exposed Their Scam Instead.

...
We can't even solve insider trading in traditional financial markets where people have been trading for decades. Oil traders made millions just hours ahead of an Iran announcement from President Trump in traditional financial markets. Why should we believe that a couple of tech bros startups have solved the problem that no one else could? Let's take, for instance, a bet on what I'm going to say in this interview. We're taping it. There's a whole bunch of people in the room right now. They all know what I said. ... Everybody in this room should be restricted from making that bet. But that exercise of deciding who has inside information and who doesn't, that's– It’s fruitless.

Today, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is taking an important step to ensure that these markets have a place here in America. ... I'm sure this has nothing to do with the fact that Donald Trump Jr. is a strategic advisor to both Kalshi and Polymarket.

It has the aesthetics of authoritarian / Imperial Roman victory monuments, with a tacky theme‑park Lady Liberty.

There is no famous historical representation of “Lady Liberty” that has wings.
The winged figure on Trump’s proposed “Triumphant Arch” does not correspond to any traditional depiction of Liberty.

It's a hybrid of Liberty, an angel, with imperial iconography.

The New York Lady a liberty wears a small seven‑pointed diadem representing the seven continents and seven seas.

Trump's version is a Disney style crown, it does not match the traditional Liberty ornamental headband.

The New York Statue of Liberty holds a a tablet inscribed with July 4, 1776. Symbolizes law, independence, and founding principles.

Looks like Trump confiscated that from Lady Liberty, and like Trump's promises, her left arm is empty.

From renders there is, of course, a heavy use of gold. In the concept art, the figures appears fully gold‑gilded
