Can we shift this thread to the What TV Series did you like thread? And I am only half joking!

I can't think of any TV-series with a president as looney-toons as the current US president. Can you?

Nope, I was heading towards the comedy show genre.

"Veep" was worried the moment he was elected... Don't know what they'll do now.

So where is this "GOP will keep him under control"?

Its been only 10 days. he hasn't done anything really bad yet, just shown his lack of class and dignity, and that him and his near cronies cannot manage the position and implementation of policy. You can bet that while he tweets about McCain and the other one as being weak, there is damage control going on. I can see more and more that at some point there will be an outward lack of confidence by the Republican party members, and the public, as to how bad he is making America look.

10 days and more damage than any President yet... There's damage control for sure, but after his latest biz, they must be going nuts!

Im sure they are, but to depose or try to depose a leader in days is not a good look. Let him continue to embarrass the nation and the nation can decide.

Overturning Roe v Wade will be next. Nothing like a group of white old mean making decisions that belong to women.

And yet the only American I know personally (locally) said that was his 'trump' card.

"Right to life" - why should women get to choose their life over the babies? (When the woman was most often the one to f$&@-up in the first place anyway?)

Only time I even understand why a woman might choose to kill her offspring to 'protect' her own quality of life is when she was raped at insemination, anything else is just selfishness IMHO.

*edit
(And how does "white" or "old" have anything to do with this anyway?)

Anyone else got their popcorn yet? This is fun.

It is fun.i expected him to be lousy, mess things up, upset people, but not this much this soon. He isn't rally a threat, he is proving that. GOP will be waiting for the right mix, when enough voters cry out in shame, then they will move in.

But I'm unsure what the average republican supporter thinks so far

The GOP is letting him sail for now. They want him to mess up big time and later get Pence to takeover.

Because a religious loony would be soooo much better...!

Coup for him? He got voted in legally by the people. But I expect he will be couped out. When the citizens start protesting about him, not the ban, about him.

He wasn't voted in by the majority of the US people. Neither was he voted in as the sole ruler of the US.

When they start to throw structures away that is in place to make sure there are checks and balances, then it is by definition a coup.

He won the electorate vote, as we used to have. Here also we have has a leader where the opposition had the popular vote.
They may change that also in the future, but in the past, he won legally. Plus only 55% voted, so the citizens played a big role,

It's a horrific side show, and the longer it goes on and the uglier it gets, the more chance fundamental issues are going to get lost in the noise.

The debate actually shouldn't be "was he elected fair and square?" and "was he within his rights to fire the AG, build the wall blah blah" and "is he doing what he said he'd do" for which the answer to all is affirmative.

The real issues are more about fundamental human rights, the intention of the constitution, and how what happened did result in a vocal minority with a rogue agenda electing a president who will not represent all of the people - in fact is going out of his way to divide a once great nation.

Its a sideshow but its not horrific. Its amateur and shows his lack of experience, and his lack of judgement, combined with hiring YES men, who disagreed with his policies. Its a sideshow, but currently it is not horrific or a crisis.

With respect, there is no noise. The globe has commented, its not noise.

He was elected fair and square. Those who voted (55%) , voted him in

As to firing the AG, someone will decide, maybe. The AG was an Obama, maybe she was biased, maybe she was right but got sideswiped by madness. Time will tell. If time shows she was right, then more black marks for the Americans. If they let him ride the wave, they are to blame. Citizens and GOP

Minority? The voters voted, he won. Thats a majority. Those 45% who did not vote, they should have.

Its been a long time since it was a great nation. The 50's? It has long been hated. Ive spent a lot of time there, well a month a year for many years "living" there. Lots of great stuff, great people, and lots off sadness. He has divided a long time divided nation, he wont be there that long, what will re unite the nation is this, and when he has gone, circa 18 months.

I'm off to bed, early start. Let me know if his warships face off at Taiwan. Or if he imposes 20% tariffs on China exports to the US, as US exports  far less, about 4 X less. US citizens will pay for that. Or if he imposes 20% tax on the wall, so that American citizens pay circa 20% more for Mexican made goods, which the US citizens pay from their tax cuts. Mattis is off the Japan/South Korea I think this week. They have been told to nuclear arm, and pay their share by Trump.

News at 11, plenty of it

Today we have New Zealand born people with dual citizenship with one of the many banned countries being denied travel to the USA. I doubt they think it's funny. Same with the surgeon booked to attend a medical conference.

That is clearly going to impact on medical and scientific exchange and as such it will affect everyone in New Zealand directy.

You obviously live in a very strange environment.

Not going to debate the pros and cons on pro life or pro choice here....my point was simply about Trump going to cause even more friction, divide and hate in America.

Sad but true.  He's only there as VP to keep the loud lunatic fringe fundies happy - I don't think even they believe Trump is as he claims - a presbyterian.

Doesn't fit that Trump would ever willingly submit to a higher authority.

Meanwhile Jesus was about to return - but he's been detained at an airport.

So women are just vessels for the purpose of manufacturing babies with no say in the matter? What an enlightened view that is.
