At last, we have the answer. According to Bill Maher, Trump's odd complexion is due to him being "the spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan."

That is disgusting, objectionable and totally inappropriate.

Well yeah - but I assumed it was a joke, DNA tests could prove it wasn't actually true, probably.

Trump's said far worse - and he surely wasn't joking.

His mother has nothing to do with any of this and its just bad taste and unnecessary and clearly shows the opponents of Mr Trump are no different to the supporters.

Untrue.  Trump supporters don't have a sense of humour - especially unable to laugh at themselves.

Thank you.  I'm sure of of a couple of things - we share an awful lot of DNA with orangutans, and that if the POTUS had 100% orangutan DNA, the US would be in better hands.

Throwing around insults is just a race to the bottom. Trump proved that already. No need for anyone to add to it.

Seem to recall HRC saying "when they go low. we go high".  How did that work out?

Opposition leaders have been mocked / ridiculed for centuries.

eg propaganda nursery rhyme from WWII:

Göring has only got one ball
Hitler's [are] so very small
Himmler's so very similar
And Goebbels has no balls at all

That was from "our side" BTW.

And now Trump's going to try to "do something":

Trump will ask for massive cuts to EPA climate change programs to help fund drastic increases in military spending

Just what we on planet earth need - a demolition party on a life raft.

Overall I think that strategy worked pretty well for Clinton. The main problem was she had no policies of interest to the voters in states that tipped the balance.

I think it was an utter disaster, Clinton actually did have policies which should have been of interest and spoke about them  - they didn't listen - didn't want to. 'cause she was a "criminal", "a weak woman", Benghazi this, emails that, an onslaught of lies, innuendo. So bad that hey - Trump may be okay.  Some still believe he might be.

I really think she did not. I notice you have not named any. Free college education? Late and great, but somewhat irrelevant to basic needs that people struggle with.

By the way, Trump sued BIll Maher over that joke.

[Trump,] the "Celebrity Apprentice" star will reportedly re-file a claim that the "Real Time" host owes $5 million for an "offer" made on NBC's "Tonight Show."

Donald Trump has voluntarily dismissed his $5 million lawsuit against Bill Maher for failing to live up to an "unconditional offer" made on NBC's Tonight Show to donate $5 million to charity if Trump provided a copy of his birth certificate proving that he’s not “spawn of his mother having sex with orangutan.”

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/donald-trump-withdraws-bill-maher-432675

As Trump's withdrawal from the annual Correspondents' Association dinner, which is basically a comedic "roast", the last presedient not to go was Reagan, and that was because he had been shot.

US President Donald Trump has announced he will not attend the White House Correspondents' Association dinner on 29 April.

The glitzy event draws celebrities, journalists and politicians, normally including the US president.

Mr Trump said he would not attend a day after the White House excluded several major broadcasters and newspapers from a press briefing.

He has frequently described negative news coverage as "fake".

However, he has not provided any evidence for his claims.

The announcement comes as relations between the White House and some media outlets continue to deteriorate.

So, yeah I'd agree; Trump can't take a joke.
