gzt: I really think she did not. I notice you have not named any. Free college education? Late and great, but somewhat irrelevant to basic needs that people struggle with.

Free college education not relevant to basic needs that people struggle with?  Geesh. That's been a struggle for Americans since whenever - the "college fund".

Her policies included:

Tax reform, disability rights, LGBT rights, environment/climate change policies etc.

One thing in particular was criminal justice reform - sorely needed to correct the stupid mistake from the '80s onward of "tough on crime" and a USA with 5% of the world population - yet 20% of the world's prison population but still with higher crime rates than many other western democracies.  Actually a reversal of Bill Clinton's policy - which he now admits was wrong - but got him elected.

Another was reform of voting rights - something which scares the bejesus out of Republicans of course.

If there was a problem with her policies in general, it was that they continued from Obama's.  Of course a lot of the hatred for Obama by the "WWC" was racism. Having a black president (and a visibly rising class of African Americans) doesn't sit well with WWC rednecks.

So, yeah I'd agree; Trump can't take a joke.

Orangutans seem to have a sense of humour - so perhaps Trump's petulant snowflakism is a human trait:

Personally, I am surprised that it has taken him this long.

Earlier on this thread, someone posted the link to part one of this excellent documentary.

If you want informed commentary on how America arrived at this current mess, here are the links to both part one and two:

American participation is so low that it takes only a small amount of disengagement and a small amount of engagement to win it. Don't make the mistake of thinking everyone suddenly went nuts. All kinds of people voted for Trump. Clinton came up with too little too late to make a difference.

Republicans don't want high "participation" and do whatever they legally can do to prevent it.

It was time for a change, Rarely do parties win 3 terms. She is disliked. But she is eminently qualified. He is an idiot. But he out thought and played the US population. He didn't really win, as the best candidate, he won as the best player. Now they pay for it.

Food for thought

New POTUS, very out there in a  bigly way. Controversial. So, its a big deal to discuss where does the US and the world go from here. This thread has abandoned that discussion, in favour of spending page after page after page calling him names. I agree with those names, but not for page after page after page.

Mods, please rename this thread the Trump Insult Thread, not for world issues.

I can see the comments coming.... The name calling and so on and so forth is old, maybe a new thread on Trump-Global Effect?

Hopefully against Trump.

Here neo Nazis marching for Trump, waving the US flag in Zagreb yesterday.

Unfortunately apart from Trump's direct effects (environment, isolationism / economic nationalism, militarism etc) his victory is a huge boost to idiots like these.

The USA would get better representation with a simple majority vote for president.

The House Of Representatives / Congress voted for that by a massive massive majority. It probably still would. A simple majority vote for the president is favored by a large majority of Americans.

As a workaround, there is a legislated agreement between states in favour of majority vote to award all electoral college votes to the popular majority candidate. There's a catch, it only activates when enough states pass that legislation.

Map from NYT of 20 "events" in the Trump presidency. This lays it out quite well.  Link to the article is here.  In the full article there's more information on a wide spread of opinion by panelists in some cases.
