kingdragonfly: From the BBC

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-39572902

"White House gaffe on Hitler and chemical weapons draws ire.

"White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has apologised after declaring that Adolf Hitler did not use chemical weapons during World War Two.

...

Critics pointed out gas was used to kill Jews and others in the Holocaust"

Thats the American way, they are so insular. If they are in a geography test/wager, go for it

Mister Recant: From the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-39585029

"US President Donald Trump has said Nato is 'no longer obsolete', reversing a stance that had alarmed allies.

Hosting Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the White House, Mr Trump said the threat of terrorism had underlined the alliance's importance.

He called on Nato to do more to help Iraqi and Afghan 'partners'.

Mr Trump has repeatedly questioned Nato's purpose, while complaining that the US pays an unfair share of membership.

The Nato U-turn wasn't Mr Trump's only change of heart on Wednesday.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he said he would not label China a currency manipulator, despite having repeatedly pledged to do so on his first day in office.

At a joint press conference with Mr Stoltenberg, Mr Trump said: 'The secretary general and I had a productive discussion about what more Nato can do in the fight against terrorism.

'I complained about that a long time ago and they made a change, and now they do fight terrorism.

'I said it [Nato] was obsolete. It's no longer obsolete.'"

LookingUp:

http://www.thepoke.co.uk/2017/04/12/trump-can-remember-cake-eating-launched-missiles-just-not-country-attacking/

Brilliant!  Especially the bit about unmanned missiles!

Scares the hell out of me. Just watched the interview (which he gave to Fox) on CNN and I can't help but sit there wondering what planet this guy is from especially this:-

“And I said, ‘Mr. President, let me explain something to you.’ This is during dessert. ‘We’ve just fired 59 missiles,’ all of which hit, by the way, unbelievable from, you know, hundreds of miles away, all of which hit.”

and later

“So what happens is I said, ‘We’ve just launched 59 missiles … heading to Iraq,’” Trump said.

The full televised interview is here. The excitement shown by the Bimbo interviewer is just as bad.

Everything is wonderful and beautiful - my arse!

I wonder if the decision with the military went like this

Military:" Hey, we got these 59 missiles that are due to expire this month. Some of the boys have never fired one..... "

Trump: "Sparklers, you got any sparklers, love them sparklers, we should drop sparklers first , they are so pretty, everyone will love what we're doing"

I see the new Attorney General Jeff Sessions in the news laying down the new direction on immigration law enforcement. It won't be nice. Yet another demonstration of the real power of the Trump administration.

Trump seems to be doing backflips on just about everything and is even falling out of love with Bannon. If he carries on like this, he may actually serve out his term as a semi-normal president.

I hope Trump's getting good advice on DPRK and isn't going to do anything hastily:

Reports that China is readying for troop deployments to the North Korean border. Some reports state that 150,000 troops may have already been deployed.

Reports from the US that activity at the NK nuclear test site indicates that they're getting ready to conduct a test.  Kim Jong-un has apparently warned that there's "something big" coming.  Saturday 15th April is suggested as a possible date for the test, as it's "Day of the Sun" celebration/holiday (commemorating Kim Il Sung's birth date - the last nuclear test was on the anniversary of the date of the founding of NK).

Kim claimed that they have the capability to build a hydrogen bomb, then claimed that the last test was a hydrogen bomb (doubtful).

The last test was claimed to have been of a weapon miniaturised so it could be delivered on their ballistic missiles (unknown).

Other reports that Kim Jong-un has shifted 600,000 people out of Pyongyang.

If they do conduct a test with high yield indicative that they've successfully detonated a fusion device (unlikely but not impossible), all hell will probably break loose.  Hopefully just words and bluster - but it will change everything.

Is a good sign. China seems to be getting more tired of NK, KJU may well bite the hand that feeds it

A) KJU declines to test. Loses face.

B) He tests, US shoots it from the sky. KJU gains face, so does US, China goes ape at PRNK

Whatever happens its 100% KJU. Its one thing to rile the US, the enemy, but to rile his only friend, no brains.

The expected test is an underground test of a nuclear device - not a missile.

The last one was claimed to be a hydrogen bomb, but the estimated yield was small (only 10-20% of the expected yield from a small thermonuclear device).

He is promising "something big".

Indications this evening coming from the Pentagon suggest they intercepted Syrian communications regarding confirmation of the use of chemical weapons.

By tomorrow morning NZ time, news will have come through that the drone spotted over the hospital the next day was a Russian drone and the unidentified aircraft that re-bombed the area was likely Russian in order to try and cover things up.
