Methinks that Hitler handled his propaganda better than Trump.

IMO he has gone from fighting and bleating on Twitter to losing his temper. Snapped. His wife says, punch him, he will punch back 10 X harder. he is doing that but its more a temper issue. His self importance, his ego, and now its his temper he cannot control. I suspect he has gone below the belt for many Americans. What he cannot grasp is displays like this will add fuel to the media fire, winding him up even more. I'd put money on that he will use the F bomb in public in the next month, it will slip out.

How are Godwin's breaches ruled on? Taking into account Mike Godwin's comment:

"If you're thoughtful about it and show some real awareness of history, go ahead and refer to Hitler when you talk about Trump. Or any other politician."

That's on the wiki page linked to in the FUG.

Sideface:

 Yesterday's post was strangely prophetic:

President Trump, Melting Under Criticism

NY Times Editorial Board - June 30, 2017

<snip> "Can the etiquette of professional wrestling and reality television truly pass as acceptable for the Oval Office? <snip>

Possibly inspired him?

Oh wait - the NY Times - along with every other news source Trump doesn't like - he claims to "never watch" or "never read" because they're "fake news" and "failing".

Then he reacts to what they're saying. Doh.

Unfortunately, it's generating cheers and fist-pumping from his core supporters.

Sadly still punching above the belt ..... and with a lot of support from many other Americans!

Agree till now but lets wait for the next polls once the insult tirade on the two reporters and the beatup video are included.

I could be wrong but I feel this recent issue tips the balance. Where tolerance was grudgingly given by Repubs and his own supporters. I feel many will now draw a line, "we believed in you, we put up with your rants and weird actions, but this is from another planet"

I wish I could share your belief that Trump's behaviour will slay him in the polls, but gallup conduct a daily poll 7 days a week.  On June 29 he posted his "bleeding face" attack, approval rating was 38%.  It's 37% on July 1.  Of course +/- 3 points, so daily swings don't mean anything - but we'll see...

All evidence I see is that Trump supporters not only don't condemn this behaviour, but they cheer for it.  They think it's "funny" (of the "ha ha" type) and that criticism even by Republicans is that even they are liberal "snowflakes" melting in tears.  They have an acronym for Republican critics of Trump's idiocy - "RINO" (Republican in Name Only).  They worship Trump as a cult leader.  Rational criticism of Trump will not change this - it's feeding it.

I don't recall having read this anywhere, but what happens if it is found that Trump's campaign did collude with Russia to win the election?

Whether or not Trump himself was involved, shouldn't that invalidate the whole thing?

If Trump is able to put even a bit of distance between himself and the actions of his minions I don't think anything'll happen. I imagine there'll be a bit of handwringing, but then it'll be back to Modern Day Presidential. A bit like this impeachment word people like to keep bringing up, just can't see it happening.

Whether his approval is 37% or 40% it is still an historic low. There are a depressing number of ignorant, stupid, angry people in the USA but I still refuse to believe they make up the majority. Most people are fundamentally decent and they do not think Trump's antics are of the ha ha variety. They think he is an oaf, a buffoon, an embarrassment to the country and the sooner he is gone, the better. They are just waiting for him to sink himself. The problem is that the political system there never took into account the possibility of a deranged orangutan actually being elected president, and there are few constitutional mechanisms for correcting such a thing.

This is THE only thread where Godwin is allowed. Anyone else it's still an instant ban.

So Trump is 'literally' Hitler? But of course the USA doesn't need the second amendment because governments don't go tyrannical. Just how exactly do those two lines of 'thought' (for want of a better word) actually reconcile in the left wing mind?

I am not saying Trump is Hitler. I am saying users who wish to invoke Godwin's Law in this thread are safe from the Instant Ban (TM).

But if a gymnastics team wins a competition because the coach gave one of them steroids without their knowledge, it's not just the coach who gets done - the whole team loses the medal.

I kinda feel that Trump thought he would never win the Presidency and was not prepared. I also believe that he is a spoilt kid playing an attention seeking ego trip game at the cost of the nation and possibly the planet.
