Sideface:

Trump has even questioned his ability to pardon himself.

That's incredible if true.

One could argue that he might query about pardoning family members if it turned out they had shady dealings he was unaware of. But the only reason to ask about pardoning yourself is if you think there is a real possibility you will be found guilty of something.

Trump has even questioned his ability to pardon himself in relation to the ongoing investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Picking up tips on how to inadvertently incriminate himself from his dim-witted son DJT "junior".

Why Donald Trump Jr. was comfortable seemingly admitting to a federal crime on Twitter

The president's pardon power is extreme – it applies to any federal crimes, is entirely within the president's discretion and is completely unreviewable (with one important exception).

The Constitution is quite clear about this. Article II, section 2 states, "The President ... shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment." No one else has this power – not Congress, nor the federal courts.

This pardon power has limits, but not any that are relevant here. For instance, Trump would not be able to pardon someone for a state, local or foreign crime. He also could not protect someone from having a lawsuit brought against him, either in federal or state court.

But for federal crimes, such as accepting campaign contributions from foreigners, Trump has the power to pardon anyone without restriction. The president's reasons for pardoning someone can be wise or stupid, noble or self-serving, serious or silly. He can pardon as many or as few people as he likes. Moreover, the president can pardon anyone, whether that person is a complete stranger or, for instance, his son. There's no limit on familial pardons.

The president's power even extends to people who have not yet been charged with a crime. The Supreme Court made this entirely clear in 1866, when it wrote that the power "extends to every offence known to the law, and may be exercised at any time after its commission, either before legal proceedings are taken, or during their presidency, or after conviction and judgment." (Emphasis added.)

That'll be part of the reason the investigations are taking so long. They will want to be sure they uncover plenty of state crimes so Trump's power to pardon won't matter.

Tho if that were the case and Trump did pardon himself and others, it would be the difference between a president being impeached and possibly to prison along with a number of those around him, to just him being impeached and a bunch of people getting away with felony crimes.

It's safe to say the framers of the constitution did not intend that power to be used to pardon himself. That wouldn't stop him, which leads to the question of what would happen next.

I'd imagine that SS will need a long, hot shower to wash all the dirt off of him after defending trump for months. A week long shower should about do it.

Sessions will be gone within the week if Washingtpost reports are correct. Seems to me Trump is deliberately causing these issues to effect a cleanout.

Is something eating Donald Trump's brain? It is an intriguing and maybe alarming thought.

Sessions will be the next to go. He has probably been caught lying about his contacts with the Russians.
