I almost hesitate to type these words, in case an orange pussy escapes the bag:

But I wonder if Trump has been given a genuine set of nuclear codes?

Folks, the FUG rules apply here too. We all know the guy is an idiot but please use his real name.

Considering that Trump had a bit of difficulty spelling the word "too" correctly, how the hell is he capable of being in charge of all those nukes? yell

Yes, that's my point.

So, could support staff\Party people\Military - whatever - withhold the real codes?

On reflection though, I guess we'll never know. The true status of this particular situation might only be known to one or two people.

And that info might be too damaging to ever be revealed.

The Borowitz Report - Trump Says Sun Equally to Blame for Blocking Moon

WASHINGTON   (The Borowitz Report)   Attacking the media for its “very unfair” coverage of Monday’s solar eclipse, Donald J. Trump said on Saturday that the sun was equally to blame for blocking the moon.

“The fake news is covering the eclipse from the sun’s side instead of the moon’s side, but if you look at it from the moon’s side the sun is blocking the moon’s side,” he said. “There are so many sides you can’t count all the sides.”

Additionally, Trump tore into the sun itself, calling it a “showboat” for its role in the solar eclipse.

“The sun thinks the world revolves around it,” Trump said. “Sad.”

An American Jewish group which by convention has played a large role in organising the president's annual Jewish holiday conference call has declined to do so this year citing deep concern over Trump's continued 'both sides' views and failure to comprehensively condemn anti-semitism and religious discrimination. The congregation in Charlottesville having armed neonazis standing outside during a service and internet threats didn't see it as a 'both sides' thing either.

Strange considering Netanyahu loves him... to the point of nearly agreeing with nazis.

There is absolutely no doubt that many of the alt-right hold strong anti semitic views. On websites where commenting is allowed, there are usually strict rules about posting blatant racist comments. (Apart from the fascist / neo nazi sites where anything goes).  To do so is a "bad look" - when they're actually trying to portray an illusion that they have moral high ground.  Instead, anti semitic comments are dog-whistled and/or coded.  It seems to me to be very childish - but then again I think you'll find school kids are a large part of that demographic.  FYI "Globalist" may mean different things to different people - if you're in that angry white young man's club, it means "Jew" when they say for example "Kushner's a globalist". Another is use of triple brackets - ie (((Soros))).

Bannon though, he's been accused of being racist and anti semitic, but he possibly isn't - just "tolerant" when it was expedient to be so.  His mission is not actually religious war, but a war to "restore" Judeo Christian "values" to the western world.  Those loosely defined "values" could and no doubt do mean different things to different people.  The religious right is firmly behind Trump.  So is the KKK.  So are the fascists.  Or "was" - Trump is at risk of losing support - the GOP "moderates" are hobbling him on policy.

This puts Trump in a difficult position - how to hold the support (which he needs) of racists and anti-semites without opening himself up to accusations of directly supporting them.

Poke them in the eye by ousting Bannon and Gorka (at the behest of "moderates" no doubt), put a hand out to them by pardoning Joe Arpaio. Condemn the fascists - then argue that there was a "both sides".

Israel is relatively easy, keep poking hate at Iran, encourage SA to go hard on Shia Islam, you've got a friend.

It's called regional perspective.

Fred is spot on. Netanyahu is not interested in US domestic issues, he has enough of his own and Trump is singing his favourite song.

Aren't you giving Trump a little too much credit here? You make him sound like a clever manipulator instead of the impulsive, immature, reflexive reactionary he is.

OK - it's a reasonable conclusion that Trump doesn't have the mental capacity to formulate complex plans.  But I think he understands the basics - and apart from the occasional "covfefe", he's been following the script provided to him by his favourite TV news channels.

As for immature etc:

This retweet by the President of the United States is insight to his mental condition.  Completely obsessed / fixated by Obama, as if it was 2012.  Trump has no dignity.  Awful.

What is awful is that a quarter of American voters are said to still enthusiastically support him. There are currently about 200 million American voters.
