If you're interested, Seth Abramson dissects the latest news on this in significant detail on his Twitter feed.

Seth's latest Twitter thread. tl;dr; version: Steele Dossier > 80% certainty of being true. Multiple "pee" tapes.

Is this thread about to close? Its becoming a bit Kardashian. Once you get past the first one thousand insults, its a bit meh? Losing the impact?

One thousand insults is not nearly enough - Trump deserves more ...  smile

Somehow this has not stopped you from repeating at regular intervals your view that there is nothing to fear from Trump, and that Trump is responsible for nothing at all. ; )

Quite a high proportion of the "insults" are legitimate criticism of policy and action that the worst "leader of the free world" in history is implementing.

I do have to laugh at the folks who argue "meh - what's the fuss, that's 'murica".

The USA has been a dominant force in our cultural, economic, and political lives since WW2.

TLDR version - it matters'

President Trump offered some confusing comments in front of reporters Thursday night, when at an event for military officials and their spouses he suggested the moment represented "the calm before the storm."

Mr. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, flanked by military spouses for a photo op at the White House, said, "You guys know what this represents? Maybe it's the calm before the storm," the president said.

Pressed on what he meant, Mr. Trump said "we have the world's great military people" in the room.

Asked yet again for an answer, Mr. Trump said "you'll find out."

What an arsehole.

Stop reading it if you've lost interest. pretty simple really.

I find some of the links continually being posted quite interesting (and very handy as I don't have a lot of time to trawl the internet) and simply brush past the 'insults'.

The thread will close itself when people have stopped posting for a certain number of days or if it descends into anarchy and a mod closes it. You've been around long enough to know this.

As long as Trump continues to make the whole world cringe at his actions (and he will), this thread or another like it will have plenty of fresh material to comment on.

The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President

In a new book, 27 psychiatrists and mental health experts assess President Donald Trump's behavior. Do his impulses explain his decisions?

The book's editor Dr. Bandy Lee and Tony Schwartz, co-author of Trump's "The Art of the Deal," join Lawrence O'Donnell.

Duration: 10:22 - well worth watching.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nhoGIvOKJU

"A paranoid, hypersensitive, grandiose, ill-informed leader such as Donald Trump, who has surrounded himself with a Cabinet and set of advisers who either are unable to bring him out of his paranoid suspicions and inconsistencies or, worse, identify with his positions, represents a multidimensional threat to our country and the world."

EDIT

Book Synopsis:

The consensus view of two dozen psychiatrists and psychologists that Trump is dangerously mentally ill and that he presents a clear and present danger to the nation and our own mental health.

This is not normal. Since the start of Donald Trump’s presidential run, one question has quietly but urgently permeated the observations of concerned citizens: What is wrong with him? Constrained by the American Psychiatric Association’s “Goldwater rule,” which inhibits mental health professionals from diagnosing public figures they have not personally examined, many of those qualified to answer this question have shied away from discussing the issue at all. The public has thus been left to wonder whether he is mad, bad, or both. In THE DANGEROUS CASE OF DONALD TRUMP, twenty-seven psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health experts argue that, in Mr. Trump’s case, their moral and civic “duty to warn” America supersedes professional neutrality. They then explore Trump’s symptoms and potentially relevant diagnoses to find a complex, if also dangerously mad, man. Philip Zimbardo and Rosemary Sword, for instance, explain Trump’s impulsivity in terms of “unbridled and extreme present hedonism.”

Craig Malkin writes on pathological narcissism and politics as a lethal mix. Gail Sheehy, on a lack of trust that exceeds paranoia. Lance Dodes, on sociopathy. Robert Jay Lifton, on the “malignant normality” that can set in everyday life if psychiatrists do not speak up. His madness is catching, too. From the trauma people have experienced under the Trump administration to the cult-like characteristics of his followers, he has created unprecedented mental health consequences across our nation and beyond. It’s not all in our heads. It’s in his.

Electing Trump shows you the intelligence level of the average American. The only one who benefits from his presidency is the Trump family.

Wow, those psychiatric assessments scare the hell out of me, if, for no other reason, for their unanimity.

An alternative view (which I disagree with) is given here:

Trump vs. Psychiatrists: Who's Crazier?

A better title would have been “27 Angry Democrats With Advanced Degrees Who Voted Against Trump and Say He’s Crazy Although They’ve Never Met Him.”

As this year progresses the more I believe NZ should be reviewing our ties with the US. A few years ago the US suspended ANZUS due to our anti-nuclear stand, I feel NZ should consider suspending ANZUS again, we do not want to get dragged into this mad mans Wars and general lunacy. We should also consider expelling the US Ambassador following his insults.
