WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Shortly after he declared that he would have run into a Florida high school unarmed to thwart a mass shooting, Donald J. Trump announced that he was planning a parade in Washington, D.C., to celebrate his hypothetical act of heroism.

“Anyone can act with bravery in the moment,” Trump told reporters in the White House. “But it takes a very special kind of hero to tell people about the incredibly brave thing he would have done weeks after the thing happened.”

He added that it was one of his greatest regrets that bone spurs prevented him from serving in the Vietnam War, “because the really courageous things I would have done during that war would have been off the charts.”

“As soon as the Tet Offensive happened, I would have run unarmed right into that mess,” he said. “We probably would have won the war right after I did that.”

Trump said that the parade he was ordering would honor not only him but all of America’s “last responders.”

According to a new poll, Trump’s assertion that he would have run into the Florida high school unarmed was believed by his daughter Ivanka.

[title sequence]

Announcer: Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!

Voices: Look, up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's SuperBSman!

Announcer: Yes, it's SuperBSman, strange visitor from another planet, who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men.
SuperBSman, who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands, and who, disguised as Donald Trump, mild-mannered property developer, fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice and the NRA.

In todays news

Trump voices support for certain gun control measures

President Trump signaled his support for a hodgepodge of policies -- from strengthening background checks to raising the minimum age to buy certain guns and taking guns away from the mentally ill -- during a meeting with a bipartisan group of lawmakers at the White House on Wednesday.

The wide-ranging meeting included blunt back-and-forths between Trump and members of both parties.

"You're afraid of the NRA," Trump told senators in an exchange over raising the age to buy firearms.

But after an hour-long televised meeting, it was still unclear what specific legislation Trump would support.

So, pulled out of TPPA

Now

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Tuesday (Wednesday NZ Time) he had "begun to have very high-level conversations" on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), and rejoining the regional trade pact is an option for US President Donald Trump.

He would have rushed in, if he was there, and if his darn bone spur on his foot didn't prevent him from seeing action.

Walmart have followed the lead of another sporting retailer & will now require people to be at least 21 years of age to buy guns or ammo.    Another small step in the right direction.

SaltyNZ:Totally. So sick of time lost to bone spurs, am I right?

Yeah.

Be different if they spurred him into action.

And he acted on the spur of the moment to do something helpful, meaningful and intelligent, that is.

But that's never gonna happen.

CNN: Kushner, Russia bombshells rock the White House

Washington (CNN)

A volley of stunning revelations over Jared Kushner and the Russia probe are rocking Donald Trump's inner circle and suggest a pivotal moment is at hand in the West Wing personnel wars that have raged throughout his presidency.

First, it emerged Tuesday that chief of staff John Kelly downgraded the top secret security clearance for the President's son-in-law in a bid to clear up a scandal over whether top administration players are qualified to access the most sensitive intelligence.

Then, The Washington Post published a bombshell report that at least four countries had discussed how to use Kushner's sparse experience, financial troubles and intricate business arrangements to manipulate him.

The developments were more than a personal and public humiliation to Kushner, who has played an influential, if mysterious, role in the administration.

They put the sustainability of his role as a top foreign policy adviser to Trump in doubt because he will have access to far fewer government secrets and cannot see the Presidential Daily Brief, the collection of the spy community's treasures prepared for the commander in chief.

EDIT:
