Dingbatt:

You needed to move Trump's lapel pin as well.

Nah - it's supposed to be over your heart - you'd need a sigmoidoscope to see its rotten remains.  I should have just cloned it out.

Edit "It's" to "its" - small things matter, apparently.

Or move it down a couple of feet, and central.

Merkel, May, and Trump, who will be rolled first?  As for Trump & NATO it's classic reality T.V. stuff. Most of the shows rely on at least one big fight or controversy per episode.

What is the difference between a statesman and a politician?

A statesman unites, a politician divides.

A statesman listens, a politician commands.

A statesman solves, a politician blames.

A statesman ...

I don't know.

You'd think May, but don't forget that when "national pride" comes under attack from outside, there's some kickback against that which might work in her favour.  Trump would clearly like Boris.  His UK trip isn't a "state visit" - he can meet with him if he likes.  The Russo-American troll campaign on social media seems to be based on pushing the concept that the whole of the UK is a sh!thole, especially London which has been overrun by jihadists, and every boy born is called Mohammed - or variation of (it's actually only about 1 in 50 boys born) - and Trump can save them.  It's already been shown that Trump incites fascism, and that there's an underlying level of hatred in society that can be stirred relatively easily.  Trust in the media in the UK is lower than anywhere else in Europe, so fighting fascism with facts is hobbled, they're really left at the mercy of their own politicians to do the right thing. It's hard to be optimistic.

News article included this re his arrival in the UK

"When Trump said earlier in the day that the British liked him a lot, he drew laughs from reporters at the news conference. The president did not appear to be joking but has privately complained about his possible reception"

When he was asked his thoughts on the protests, his 4 minutes reply was 3.9 minutes yakking about immigration.

The White House now is saying that John Kelly's frown during the NATO breakfast wasn't because he disapproved of the President's comments - it was because he wasn't happy with the breakfast served...

Some people are paid full time to come up with this shit. At the White House.

Also, Trump is known for his aggressive handshakes. What will happen when he meets the queen? - I'd love to see a Queen's Guard, with bearskin hat and all jump on Trump if he touches the Queen. Alas, won't happen. The jump I mean.

(Yes, I know the Queen's Guard protect the residence and properties, not the Queen herself - but it is still a cool mental image).

He took Airforce One? I thought he would either part the Atlantic or just walk on the surface.

Ah, I remember back in the day when then Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating committed the royal protocol faux pas of touching the Queen's back as he welcomed her to Parliament House.

I think that word should be allowed. Even RNZ uses it without blushing.

Trump has just done an interview (with a Murdoch paper of course):

  • Under May's Brexit deal, any trade agreement with the US is probably off.
  • He's torn into London Mayor Sadiq Khan for not standing up to terrorists and blamed Khan for spiralling crime in the capital
  • Insisted former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson would make “a great Prime Minister”

All entirely within character (or lack of in this case) and expected. After this hatchet attack on the British PM, he's off to see the Queen.

I wonder how she'd feel about the vulgarian pussy-grabbing braggart trying to bully the UK into changing leadership?
