I don't think there is ever a bad time to talk about how absurd war is, how old men make decisions and young people die. - George Clooney

CNN - Poll: Trump is as strongly disliked now as Nixon was before he resigned

Poll of the week: A new Marist College poll finds that 20% of Americans rate President Donald Trump's job performance as excellent, 20% as pretty good, 13% as only fair and 45% as poor.

There is, not surprisingly, a large gap between how members of the two parties view Trump.

Although only 2% of Democrats say Trump is doing an excellent job, 49% of Republicans do.

Democrats are far more likely to give a poor rating at 80% compared to 6% of Republicans.

What still makes Trump unique though is the amount of intensity his detractors have for him.

Trump is as strongly disliked as President Richard Nixon was when he resigned the presidency 44 years ago this week.

Back then, 45% of people said Nixon was doing a poor job as president in a Harris poll.

CNN - Trump-appointed judge upholds special counsel Mueller's authority

A federal district judge [Judge Dabney Friedrich] who was appointed by President Donald Trump has upheld Robert Mueller's appointment and constitutional authority in the special counsel's case against Russian social media propagandists.

"The appointment does not violate core separation-of-powers principles.
Nor has the Special Counsel exceeded his authority under the appointment order by investigating and prosecuting Concord,"
Friedrich wrote in an opinion published Monday morning.

What is the White House Situation Room and why was Omarosa in it?

"Recording devices are forbidden in the SITROOM, but Omarosa says she has a recording of Chief of Staff John Kelly firing her."

by Robert Windrem

"The White House Situation Room has been witness to many of the most critical events in recent U.S. history. President Johnson ran the Vietnam War from the complex in the White House basement. President Obama and his staff gathered in the "SITROOM" and watched on a TV screen as Navy SEALs killed Osama Bin Laden.

Before the Trump administration, however, no government official had ever used the high-security complex to fire a former reality TV star.

Larry Pfeiffer, who ran the security facility in the basement of the White House between 2011 and 2013, says he found many things about ex-Trump aide Omarosa Manigault Newman's account of being fired by Chief of Staff John Kelly surprising, but none more than how one of the most sensitive spaces on U.S. soil was used for such a mundane purpose.

'In my two years at the SITROOM, I don't ever recall a personnel meeting taking place in that room,' said Pfeiffer, who worked 32 years in the U.S. intelligence community, including as chief of staff for CIA Director Michael Hayden. 'On one level, I'm flabbergasted, but on another level, with this administration, nothing surprises me.'

The SITROOM, said Pfeiffer, is 'more than a little room.'

In fact, the Situation Room is many rooms --seven, depending on how you count --and at more than 5,500 square feet is the largest contiguous space inside the executive mansion. It is not a bunker, and despite its basement location has some windows, but security is stringent. Every visitor is screened and access is closely controlled by a staff that works 24 hours a day seven days a week."

I remember Omarosa from the Apprentice.  She struck me as an extremely false person who would say anything to get what she wants then and seeing her speaking on the TV recently, nothing has changed in the way she comes across.

I'm not saying she is incorrect or being dishonest on occasion, but her credibility is not high in my estimate.  Mind you neither is Trump's ...

It seems reasonably clear that Trump isn't running the WH anyway.  IIRC Omarosa recorded a conversation with Trump after she'd been fired, and Trump appeared to genuinely have no knowledge that she'd been fired.

In a tweet, Trump this morning referred to her as a "dog". That's some pretty wild way to refer to any person - but especially a black woman - for any reason.

I seriously doubt "his" tweetstorm this morning was actually from him.  For example the use of "machinations" and "animus" - most of everything from him is monosyllabic / basic, that seems to be far too eloquently worded - yet there's the misspelling "councel".  Perhaps he's talking to Hannity or another close confidant and they're dictating tweets for him.

There would be no Mueller Special Councel to investigate so called collusion but for the machinations of Strzok & his colleagues at the top levels of the FBI. We know this guy was corrupt and had anti-Trump animus.

Trump may have entered that on the keypad of his iPhone, but that sure as hell doesn't sound like any of his words - not even close.

Well even very false persons can be right some of the time.  Even if only 10% of what she says is the truth, the whole truth - you know the rest - she's twice as honest as the president:
