Started watching a few part series on Trump last night. If you wanted to compare him as a 20's entrepreneur to now, there is no comparison. No comparison in that he was identical, then and now.

+1

I am 6 months older than Donald Trump.

I have been watching his progress for 50 years, with increasing astonishment and loathing.

I agree that he is just as repulsive and amoral now as he was as a young man.

He will never change (except possibly for the worse as dementia sets in).

I'm looking forward to the UN coverage. Imagine if every country went there for the sole purpose of ONLY your country's interests matter, I thought the U meant United. I'm wrong, apologies, it must mean U(SA)

GQ magazine has proven to have good reporting on Trump.

Netflix's Trump: An American Dream Shows the President Has Always Been Like This
By Licoln Michel

"You probably don’t think you need more Trump in your life. The president’s words and face are omnipresent, from the early morning Twitter rants to the late-night talk shows. But if you can stomach a little more, the new documentary miniseries Trump: An American Dream is a fascinating look at how Trump became who he is today. (It’s also on Netflix.)

Trump is composed of four episodes. The first looks at his rise (with a leg up from his wealthy dad) in real estate in the ‘70s, the second on his casino-fueled stardom in the ‘80s, the third on his fall into tabloid fodder and near financial ruin in the ‘90s, and the last on political ambitions and reality show stardom of the last two decades. In every decade, Trump is the same as he ever was. From his earliest days, he’s full of bluster and seemingly singularly obsessed with wealth, power, and self-promotion. Everything he does is “going to be great for everybody” and “going to be a tremendous success.” If someone questions that, they’re villains to be attacked, bullied, or sued. “The news gets away with murder,” Trump spits out when his disastrous Taj Mahal casino venture was nearing bankruptcy. When the journalist asks gently about the finances, Trump pulls off his mic and walks away. “But we talked about this yesterday on the phone,” the reporter says meekly.

Trump’s penchant for hyperbole and falsehoods is on full display too. Journalist David Cay Johnston describes quizzing Trump on the casino business with questions peppered with obvious flashoods. He expected Trump to correct his errors. Instead, Johnston says, “Trump takes my falsehoods and incorporates them into his answer. That’s what con artists do.”

I was going to mention that - it's perhaps NSFW.  There are allegations that Kavanaugh went way way beyond "Locker Room Talk".

And from CNN - according to Trump they're "fake news".  Well perhaps he's right - in a bizarre twist:

I watched the last 2 of the 4 eps last night. Netflix also has Get Me Roger Stone, this is even more compelling than the Trump doco. I gave Trump credit for being the master marketer, thats false, he is just a puppet. Stone is the mastermind. He is a genius, the perfect manipulator of voters. He is quite the character as well, in bad ways. Its a must watch

Trump does it again:

Mr Trump congratulated Colombian President Iván Duque on his recent "very, very impressive" election victory and declared that the US looked forward to "partnering with his new administration to eradicate cocoa production in his country".

Cocoa, of course, is what chocolate is made from. The plant that cocaine is made from is coca. It's a fairly common error for American politicians: as a US-based drug policy analyst observed to me today, the annual Congressional debates on aid to Colombia must terrify the chocolate industry.

The government should legalise chocolate immediately! For too long have we been beholden to the Swiss & Belgian cartels, making criminals out of innocent children.

Washington Post - Trump cuts a lonely figure at the U.N.

extracts - this is behind a paywall ..

President Trump’s address before the U.N.’s General Assembly on Tuesday will underscore a now-familiar message: American sovereignty and supremacy are not to be challenged, nor is Washington’s right to act unilaterally on the world stage.

Trump has acted according to those principles since taking office last year.

He has sparked trade disputes with close allies, cast doubt upon traditional alliances in the West, withdrawn the United States from global agreements such as the Paris climate accords and upset the apple cart at multilateral summits like this year’s meeting of the Group of Seven nations. ...

The key question is whether Trump is an outlier — or the new normal.

Trump probably will receive minimal support when he chairs a Security Council session on Wednesday, where he is expected to berate Iran — every other permanent member of the council was opposed to Trump’s withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Tehran.

Diplomats at the United Nations have also objected to the White House’s other attacks on U.N. bodies, including its defunding of the U.N.'s Palestinian-aid agency and threats leveled at the International Criminal Court. ...

As Trump’s bullying grabs attention, experts say a stealthy realignment is slowly taking place. ...

Along the same lines

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/09/25/politics/unga-trump-stands-alone/index.html

US is off tangent from many key issues. Then Pompeo states "Americans expect the United States to assert bold leadership on the world stage that reflects our values," he said, "and under President Trump, we are certainly leading from the front."

The UN needs to take control. It needs to tell the US that the UN is united. If you wish to back away from everything, thats ok, this is about the world not about the US. You don't need to be here if you don't wish to be.

For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, the Best. Thing. Ever. just happened. Donald Trump got laughed at for boasting to the UN General Assembly.

LOL, yeah. Better, funnier and stupider than I expected

https://www.stuff.co.nz/world/americas/107375688/us-president-donald-trump-boasts-of-americas-might-draws-headshakes-at-un

US President Donald Trump delivered a sharp rebuke of multinational authority at the United Nations on Tuesday (Wednesday NZ Time), drawing headshakes and even laughter from fellow world leaders as he boasted of America's economic and military might.

Trump arrived late, forcing a last-minute scheduling switch, then received polite applause but also blank stares as he took his blustery brand of "America First" policies to the annual General Assembly.

Speaking in triumphal terms, Trump approached the address as an annual report to the world on his country's progress since his inauguration. He crowed that in "less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country."

Rather than applaud or indicate they were impressed, the audience began to chuckle and some broke into outright laughter. Trump appeared briefly flustered before joking that it was not the reaction he expected but "that's all right."

I also liked this

The laughter in the first moments of the address evoked a campaign line Trump frequently deployed against his predecessor Barack Obama - who embraced international engagement - suggesting that due to weak American leadership, "the world is laughing at us."

In 2014, Trump tweeted "We need a President who isn't a laughing stock to the entire World. We need a truly great leader, a genius at strategy and winning. Respect!"

This latter point might be like the Wall, its still being worked on, but like the Wall it will never see the light of day
