MSNBC - The Trump Alternate Reality Camera (3 minutes)

“Taking the president seriously has become an exercise in absurdity"

Highly recommended.  Watch it!  wink

In my opinion this is the strongest evidence to date that Donald really is losing touch with reality.

Trump’s State of the Union Address: Live Analysis

By The New York Times

Jumping the gun.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi was spared any discomfort that might have come with the ritual introduction of the president of the United States. The president jumped the gun.

Before she could utter the traditional, “Ladies and gentlemen, I give to you the president of the United States,” Mr. Trump had already started speaking. ...

Trump warns House Democrats: Don’t investigate me or my administration.

After spending the first portion of his speech patting himself on the back for what he views as his administration’s accomplishments, including low unemployment, Mr. Trump issued a stern warning to the Democrats now in charge of the House.

“An economic miracle is taking place in the United States - and the only thing that can stop it are foolish wars, politics or ridiculous partisan investigations,” he said.

“If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation. It just doesn’t work that way!”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi smirked behind him. Representative Adam Schiff of California, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, smiled.

He has already begin examining whether money laundering could have motivated Mr. Trump’s coziness with Russian oligarchs. ...

I haven't watched it. because I know what its for and what it says. Its not a State of the Union, its a Trump I'm Great Fest

Most, no, I say ALL of us would be humiliated by our behaviour and how the world views us, if we were him. We all know what embarrassment means. Made a fool of. Being an idiot in front of other people. (Im not suggesting any of us have practical experience of that but we know what it is) The Pope or the Queen could say something direct to him, and that would also go over his head.

You cannot hurt anyone who has no nerves, or in this particular case, anything.

One day when he is impeached, or he loses the next election, amongst anger by Americans and the world at large, he will write a book. He still wont have got it

NBC News - On Trump's big SOTU applause line, the sound of silence was stunning

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump told Congress on Tuesday that the economy would crash and no policy work could be done if lawmakers investigate his administration or stand in the way of his plans to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan and Syria.

The lines, delivered early in his State of the Union address, were so clearly designed to draw cheers from his Republican allies that they even included a rhyme scheme.

"An economic miracle is taking place in the United States - and the only thing that can stop it are foolish wars, politics, or ridiculous partisan investigations," he said.

"If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation. It just doesn't work that way!"

Instead of applause, Trump was met with steely silence.

Amid Trump's nearly 5,200 words Tuesday night, that absence of sound spoke loudest.

It represented a growing and increasingly fraught disconnect between the president and Congress on two issues that figure to factor prominently in his two-year quest for re-election.

And, more broadly, it demonstrated again that the president no longer has the kind of command over GOP foot soldiers in Congress than he once enjoyed. ...

The New York Times - House Expands Russia Inquiry as Pelosi Declares Democrats Will Not Be Cowed

Feb. 6, 2019

WASHINGTON — The House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday launched a broad inquiry into the potential influence that Russia and other foreign powers may be exercising over President Trump, acting just hours after a defiant Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared that the House would not be cowed by the president’s “all-out threat” to drop its investigations of his administration.

Other committees were zeroing in on similarly sensitive oversight targets.

On Thursday, Democrats will begin their quest to secure the president’s long-suppressed tax returns.

Representative Jerrold Nadler, Democrat of New York, warned the acting attorney general, Matthew G. Whitaker, on Wednesday that he could not avoid Democratic questioning.

And a House Appropriations subcommittee chairwoman began an inquiry into administration rule-bending during the 35-day government shutdown.

“It’s our congressional responsibility, and if we didn’t do it, we would be delinquent in that,” Ms. Pelosi said of the House’s oversight role, just hours after Mr. Trump used his State of the Union address to warn that “ridiculous partisan investigations” threatened the nation’s economic health and the prospects of bipartisan legislating.

That, Ms. Pelosi said, “was a threat; it was an all-out threat.”

Despite Mr. Trump’s warning, the gears of congressional oversight began to turn ...

The Washington Post - Trump lashes out as Democrats step up inquiries of president and administration

February 6 at 7:26 PM

President Trump called Democratic investigations into his administration and business “ridiculous” and “presidential harassment.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in turn accused the president of delivering an “all-out threat” to lawmakers sworn to provide a check and balance on his power.

The oversight wars officially kicked into high gear this week as House Democrats began investigating the Trump administration in earnest.

With Thursday hearings scheduled on presidential tax returns and family separations at the Mexican border, and a Friday session to question acting attorney general Matthew G. Whitaker, the lights are about to shine brightly on a president who has, until now, faced little examination from a Republican Congress.

But Democrats are moving carefully after spending weeks forming their committees, hiring staff and laying the groundwork for coming probes - mindful that Trump is eager to turn their investigations into a political boomerang as his critics demand swift action to uncover various alleged misdeeds.

In his State of the Union address Tuesday, Trump lambasted “ridiculous partisan investigations” and built a case that undue Democratic oversight would impede progress for the American people.

“If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation,” he said. “It just doesn’t work that way.”

Pelosi (D-Calif.) reacted sharply to Trump’s insinuation that there could be no progress on legislation while lawmakers pry open the doors of his administration.

“Presidents should not bring threats to the floor of the House,” she said. “It’s not investigation; it’s oversight. It’s our congressional responsibility, and if we didn’t do it, we would be delinquent in our duties.” ...

A very trippy video about Trump and the border wall, from a Mexican perspective.

Here's my guess at some of the imagery.

The spaceship looks like a pre-Mayan pyramid. The Feathered Serpent God Quetzalcoatl is mentioned.

The rooster, as Mary mother of Jesus, gets in a cock fight with Trump.
