Saw a picture the other day which illustrated how low the US has sunk. Trump awarding Tiger Woods the Medal of Honor.

One lowlife who likes to play a round with a golf ball receiving the countries highest civilian medal from another lowlife who likes to play around with prostitutes.

If I had been brave enough to be the recipient of this honor I would be sending it back if I saw this picture. A medal for playing golf, seriously?

It's not the first one to receive the medal for playing golf.

If I were Tiger Woods I would decline it. Receiving is a tacit support for Donald.

P.T. Barnum (of circus fame) - three relevant quotes :

  • “Nobody ever lost a dollar by underestimating the taste of the American public.”

  • “I don't care what the newspapers say about me as long as they spell my name right.”

  • “There's a sucker born every minute.”

CNN Politics - Trump awards Medal of Freedom to long-time friend Tiger Woods

May 6, 2019

Washington (CNN)  President Donald Trump bestowed Tiger Woods with the nation's highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, on Monday evening in the White House Rose Garden, hailing Woods as a "global symbol of American excellence." ...

But by honoring him, the president leaves the appearance of using his office to reward a business partner ... Tiger is designing a golf course for Trump.

https://www.golf.com/news/features/2019/04/02/how-why-president-trump-cheats-golf-playing-tiger-woods/

How and why President Trump cheats at golf — even when he’s playing against Tiger Woods

I used to have this coach who told us, “How you do one thing is how you do everything. You loaf in practice, you’re gonna loaf in the game. You cheat on your tests, you’re gonna cheat on your wife.”

I’ve found that to be true with golf. The guy who plays slowly on the course is going to be molasses in meetings. The guy who’s generous with compliments on the course is going to do the same at dinner. And the guy who cheats on the course is going to cheat in business, or on his taxes or, say, in politics.

Jack O’Donnell worked with Donald Trump for four years as vice president of Trump Plaza Casino in Atlantic City. O’Donnell’s dad was one of the founders of Sawgrass, the iconic Pete Dye golf course near Jacksonville, Fla. “My dad always told us to respect the game,” O’Donnell says. “That’s the one part of the game that tells me what kind of person you are. You play the ball where it lies.” So when O’Donnell’s office colleague, the late Mark Eddis, came back after his first round with Trump, O’Donnell couldn’t resist asking.

“So, does he improve his lie?”

Eddis looked at him and threw his head back in laughter. “Every shot but the tee shot.”

Trump doesn’t just cheat at golf. He cheats like a three-card Monte dealer. He throws it, boots it, and moves it. He lies about his lies. He fudges and foozles and fluffs. At Winged Foot, where Trump is a member, the caddies got so used to seeing him kick his ball back onto the fairway they came up with a nickname for him: “Pele.”

“I played with him once,” says Bryan Marsal, longtime Winged Foot member and chair of the coming 2020 Men’s U.S. Open. “It was a Saturday morning game. We go to the first tee and he couldn’t have been nicer. But then he said, ‘You see those two guys? They cheat. See me? I cheat. And I expect you to cheat because we’re going to beat those two guys today.’… So, yes, it’s true, he’s going to cheat you. But I think Donald, in his heart of hearts, believes that you’re gonna cheat him, too. So if it’s the same, if everybody’s cheating, he doesn’t see it as really cheating.”

Okay, but …

a) Everybody isn’t. Except for an occasional mulligan on the first tee and accepting a gimme (a short conceded putt) from an opponent, 85 percent of casual golfers play by the rules, according to the National Golf Foundation.

b) To say “Donald Trump cheats” is like saying “Michael Phelps swims.” He cheats at the highest level. He cheats when people are watching, and he cheats when they aren’t. He cheats whether you like it or not. He cheats because that’s how he plays golf, that’s how he learned it, that’s how he needs it, and whether you’re his pharmacist or Tiger Woods, if you’re playing golf with him, he’s going to cheat.

In fact, he did cheat with Tiger Woods. Not long after becoming president, Trump invited Woods, Dustin Johnson (the No. 1 player in the world at the time), and longtime Tour pro and Fox golf analyst Brad Faxon to play.

They set up a bet: Faxon and Trump against Woods and Johnson.

The Washington Post - The dirty little secret of the ‘Trump Doctrine’: There isn’t one

By Max Boot, Columnist  (extracts)

May 15 at 9:47 AM

President Trump talks in vacuous generalities - “America first,” “Make America Great Again” - and governs in indecipherable contradictions.

He champions democracy in Venezuela but embraces a far more ruthless tyrant in North Korea.

He announces a troop withdrawal from Syria and then says, “Never mind.”

He claims that a “deal” with China “will happen,” and then sabotages talks by ratcheting up tariffs.

You almost have to pity the Deep Thinkers who trail after Trump with their rhetorical pooper scoopers, cleaning up after him and pretending, like witch doctors reading chicken entrails, to find hidden meaning in his random effusions. ...

This is a president who is capable of changing his mind between the beginning and end of a single sentence.

His foreign policy defies sense or reason.

The Trump Doctrine is simply: Trump does whatever the hell he wants. ...

The Washington Post - Trump pardons billionaire friend Conrad Black, who wrote a book about him

May 15 at 9:39 PM

President Trump gave a full pardon to a longtime friend who last year wrote a glowing book about Trump’s successes.

Conrad Black was convicted in 2007 on fraud charges, including alleged embezzlement, and obstruction of justice.

He served more than three years in prison and was deported to his native Canada after he was released in 2012.

He was barred from returning to the United States for 30 years.

The White House said in a statement that Black was “entirely deserving” of the pardon.

In listing Black’s accomplishments, it mentions biographies Black wrote about presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Richard Nixon, but not his tome on Trump.

On the first page of that book, “Donald J. Trump: A President Like No Other,” Black writes:

Like the country he represents, Donald Trump possesses the optimism to persevere and succeed, the confidence to affront tradition and convention, a genius for spectacle, and a firm belief in common sense and the common man.” ...

Pass the sick bag, please ...

Smart move writing a sycophantic compliment about Trump on the first page of the book.

Trump gets tired quickly from mouthing out the letters in the words: "L" "I" "K" "E" ... "lika ...licky... like!"

Trump is creating serious debt in the US.

His tax cuts to the rich has reduced incoming revenue.

He's talking about huge subsidies to the farmers, to offset the Chinese retaliation.

He hasn't pulled troops out of the Middle East, because Fox news told him he shouldn't.

And he's talking about deploying 120,000 troops to invade Iran.

Is it any wonder he lost 10 billion dollars in 10 years personally?

Funny how Republicans only want to cut spending when the Democrats are in control.

China has foreign exchange reserves of = US$3 trillion.

Trumpenomics hasn't factored this in to their trade-war spreadsheet.  It gives them a buffer vs US needing to borrow if they are going to prop up their economy.  China holds a trump card.

Actually, Americans do.  China is the largest foreign holder of US treasuries, with about $1.1 trillion, but that's only a few % of total with US debt well north of $20 trillion (and accelerating).

If it turns really pear-shaped, then the US either collapses, or they're going to have to borrow more to prop up the economy.

While the economy is strong, they should have been increasing revenue to pay down debt.  Trump and greed headed the other way.
