This CNN article on impeachment is well worth a read. Here is one brief extract:

"One can try to superimpose some coherent idea of America on Trump's flailings, but in the end, the problem with Trump is not that he is trying to move the country toward some unpleasant, but coherent, vision of the future but that he is destroying the constitutional order to gratify his own ego and pursue personal wealth and power."

Perhaps someone can explain to me what Trump's strategy is? Assuming there is one of course.

What did he think was going to happen when he took a hard-line approach to Iran, breaking many of the promises made thus far?

Good grief.

Many strategies rolled in to one:
To undo something good Obama did.
To placate hawkish Israelis who really do want to nuke Iran, but that's not a good thing.
To placate the Saudi regime, who hate Shiite Muslims, want to rule the Islamic ME themselves, and have as a greatest fear the rise of democracy - Iran was slowly but surely heading in that direction, and they want to nail it. Remember the Arab Spring?
To poke Europe in the eye.
Money.

... and soon he will remember even less.  😶

Trump's strategy is simple - me, me, me.

This has to be worth something. Even Geraldo Rivera, if you know who he is, has conceded that Trump is a racist. This is a big deal, considering where Rivera is coming from. If even people like him are starting to see through Trump, there may yet be hope for the future.

President Trump thinks a war with Afghanistan would be pretty easy for him to win. Luckily for 10 million people, the president says he prefers not to go to war.

Have to love this.An article of failed billionaires

Trump doesn't seem to be bothered by his lengthy history of bankruptcies, however. In a 2016 Republican presidential debate,Trump was asked why he could be trusted to "run the country's business" after his string of bankruptcies.

He responded, "I have used the laws of this country – just like the greatest people that you read about every day in business have used the laws of this country, the chapter laws, to do a great job for my company, for myself, for my employees, for my family, et cetera."

Bolds are mine/Trumps

Trump campaign's plastic straws selling like hotcakes

The Washington Times - Monday, July 22, 2019

The Trump reelection campaign has raised more than $200,000 by selling about 140,000 plastic straws in just four days, campaign manager Brad Parscale tweeted Monday. ...

“Now you can finally be free from liberal paper straws,” he said. “I’m so over paper straws, and I’m sure you are too. Much like most liberal ideas, paper straws don’t work and they fall apart instantly. That’s why we just launched our latest product - Official Trump Straws. Now you can finally be free from liberal paper straws that fall apart within minutes and ruin your drink.”

The campaign’s web site declared, “Liberal paper straws don’t work. STAND WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP and buy your pack of recyclable straws today.”
