And if you vote for Trump, you are a snowflake.

If Trump's skin was any thinner, he'd looked like a package of lard, minus the waxed paper.

As Bill Maher says, Trump is a whiny little b1tch.

It's funny how Fox News accuses liberal of being snowflakes, yet gets outraged at any conservative slight.

This one has slipped in under the radar (no pun intended) ...

The Washington Post - Trump opens the door to chaos as landmark treaty expires

today

On Friday, a nonproliferation pact that underpinned three decades of global security will collapse.

In 1987, the United States and the Soviet Union agreed to the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which led to the removal of more than 2,600 U.S. and Soviet nuclear and conventional ballistic missiles - specifically, ground-based weapons systems with ranges between 500 and 5,500 kilometers (310 and 3,417 miles). That proximate distance, and the fact that they could hit their targets within 10 minutes, made such missiles the source of constant fears of miscalculation during the Cold War era.

The landmark agreement, backed by a verification process and inspections on both sides, effectively eliminated an entire class of nuclear weapons. It lifted the veil of permanent nuclear threat that hung over Europe. It also launched a lengthy subsequent process under which both Washington and Moscow reduced their nuclear arsenals.

Under President Trump, the clock is being dialed back.

In February, the Trump administration gave notice that it would be exiting the INF Treaty in six months, citing long-standing U.S. complaints that Russia was violating the treaty’s terms with the development of a new land-based, nuclear-capable cruise missile. ...

Analysts reckon a new arms race is possibly in the offing.

“Now that the treaty is over, we will see the development and deployment of new weapons,” Russian military analyst Pavel Felgenhauer told AFP.

The United States also is believed to be developing at least three new types of medium-range missiles - all of them intended to carry conventional warheads.

Sleep well, children.

Will Trump Stop His MAGA Rally Crowd From Chanting Racist Slogans?

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Trump paused for questions today before his helicopter took off en route to his MAGA rally in Ohio, and he refused to say whether he would discourage the crowd from chanting "send her back."

Trump: "Fine with me" if China doesn't trade with us anymore

CBS News

President Trump says it's "fine with me" if China doesn't want to trade with the U.S. anymore. This comes as he's threatening to impose 10% tariffs on $300 billion worth of goods.

The Washington Post - Ratcliffe withdraws from consideration for intelligence chief less than a week after Trump picked him

August 2 at 7:08 PM

President Trump announced Friday that Rep. John Ratcliffe, his embattled pick to lead the nation’s intelligence community, was withdrawing from consideration and will remain in Congress after lawmakers raised questions about his qualifications and whether he had padded his résumé. ...

Even by the tumultuous standards of the Trump administration, Ratcliffe’s nomination, which fell apart in less than a week, was a spectacular flameout. ...

In an exchange with reporters Friday afternoon, Trump defended the White House’s failure to scrutinize Ratcliffe’s background.

“I give out a name to the press and they vet for me. We save a lot of money that way,” Trump said. ...

Good grief!  😕

Pastor doubles down on 'America: Love or leave it' sign as members walk out

Fox News

After President Trump's controversial comments about the "Squad" last week, where he said that if someone doesn't want to be in the country they should leave, a Virginia church's sign went viral for its message.

"America: love or leave it," read the sign at Friendship Baptist Church sign in Appomattox, Va., to preview Sunday's message. The sign drew national support and condemnation throughout the week but during the church's Sunday School, some congregants staged a walkout, WSET-TV reported.

Last week, Pastor E. W. Lucas, who put up the sign after Trump's tweet, told the local station people upset with Trump's comments "ought to go over there and live in these other countries for a little while.

Shannon Watts, founder of the anti-NRA group, Moms Demand Action, and Jon Cooper, chairman of the Democratic Coalition, as well as others, compared the sign to a black and white image of a KKK billboard that reads "This is Klan Country 'Love it or Leave it."

Lucas' supporters said the sign is as simple as the message itself.

Lucas has doubled down on his message and said he wanted to keep the sign up longer because of the support he has received.

But he apparently did not receive full support from his congregation. WSET reported that on Sunday the 11 a.m. service was empty and some members were leading others out during service. The church's Facebook page was down on Monday.

“Preachers, by and large, today, are afraid they’re gonna hurt somebody’s feelings," Lucas told WSET, "and when I get in the pulpit, I’m afraid I won’t hurt somebody’s feelings.”

Pro-Trump Republican aiming to unseat Ilhan Omar charged with felony theft

A pro-Trump Republican candidate for Congress who is aiming to unseat Ilhan Omar in Minnesota has been charged with a felony after allegedly stealing from stores.

Danielle Stella was arrested twice this year in Minneapolis suburbs over allegations that she shoplifted items worth more than $2,300 from a Target and goods valued at $40 from a grocery store. She said she denied the allegations.

Stella, a 31-year-old special education teacher, was reported this week to be a supporter of the baseless “QAnon” conspiracy theory about Donald Trump battling a global cabal of elite liberal paedophiles.

This week Stella also described Minneapolis as “the crime capital of our country”. She has in the past complained that local police were “overworked and overburdened” and said that, if elected, she would work to reduce crime.

https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/QAnon

Rational Wiki "QAnon"

QAnon's central premise is that President Trump is secretly working to take down a global ring of elite, cannibalistic, satanic pedophiles. They also believe that the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, led by former FBI director Robert Mueller, is actually an investigation into the so-called "deep state", where a cabal of evil, money-grubbing globalists, including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, are responsible for everything from a global pedophile ring to the mass shooting in Las Vegas in 2017.

What makes the QAnon conspiracy an anomaly is the fact that it presents an alternate world in which the "good guys" are in control of the entire government; according to University of Miami professor Joseph Uscinski, in most other theories the shadowy conspiracy in control is malevolent.

QAnon crazies also see hints in Trump's actions. According to the enlightened, when Trump awkwardly took a drink from a bottle of Fiji Water at a press conference in November 2017, it wasn't because he was thirsty; it was actually a secret signal to those in the know that the Storm of annihilation of deep state pedophiles had begun (or was about to begin). Because as everyone knows, Fiji is a hot spot for child trafficking.

Q believers have a huge amount of baggage on the crazy train in the form of crank magnetism: special counsel Robert S. Mueller III is actually investigating high-level Democrats, the Illuminati, the Rothschild conspiracy, "Operation Mockingbird" (an alleged 20th century CIA infiltration of the media), fascism, the hidden meaning of Francis Ford Coppola films and Christian revivalism. Oh, and J. P. Morgan had the Titanic sunk to take out his millionaire rivals, and "John F. Kennedy Jr. faked his death and joined Trump's secret evil-fighting organization, where he writes 4chan posts under the pseudonym 'Q'."

The mind boggles. Where does this kind of stupidity come from? There is no rational response that can be made to it.

The Washington Post - re Trump’s nominees ...

August 3 at 2:14 PM

The position of director of national intelligence was created after the 9/11 terror attacks to prevent another such assault on the American homeland.

The DNI, as the director is known, must oversee 17 intelligence agencies with a total budget of about $60 billion.

There are few jobs more important in the federal government - or the entire country.

Yet President Trump treated the selection of a DNI with less care and forethought than he would give to picking an interior designer for Mar-a-Lago. ...

Trump picked Ratcliffe, it seems, because he liked the congressman’s obnoxious questioning of former special counsel Robert S. Mueller III in July hearings and his role in spreading cuckoo conspiracy theories about a nonexistent “secret society” of FBI agents supposedly out to get the president.

But it soon emerged that Trump didn’t know much about his new nominee. ...

Trump is a president straight out of “The Great Gatsby.”

F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote of his protagonists: “They were careless people, Tom and Daisy - they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.” ...

Wiki

The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel written by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald that follows a cast of characters living in the fictional towns of West Egg and East Egg on prosperous Long Island in the summer of 1922.

The story primarily concerns the young and mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and his quixotic passion and obsession with the beautiful former debutante Daisy Buchanan.

Considered to be Fitzgerald's magnum opus, The Great Gatsby explores themes of decadence, idealism, resistance to change, social upheaval, and excess, creating a portrait of the Roaring Twenties that has been described as a cautionary tale regarding the American Dream.

Let’s create a crank conspiracy theory: Across the world there is a vast, international organisation that has infiltrated every level of society. The agents of this institution pretend to be forces for good, performing acts of charity for public consumption and offering spiritual counsel to the despairing victims of the very system they hold in place. This ‘instruction’ is in fact an elaborate experiment in Mind Control as the nefarious overlords seek to extend their reach and power. The Men in Black, as the agents are sometimes known, befriend families with young children and gain the confidence of the parents so they can pursue the paedophilic aims of their worldwide cabal, which ensures its privileged position by sowing confusion and self-loathing in young people who might otherwise masturbate and grow up to challenge them. The absurdity of this conspiracy, which preaches that those who obey its commandments will one day be taken to a paradise planet in a flying saucer up to a mystical place in the sky called heaven, will be immediately apparent to anyone who… oh, wait…
