The Guardian - 'In my great and unmatched wisdom': Trump makes modest claim about his intellect

Trump – the ‘very stable genius’ – is no stranger to narcissistic statements, and he was at it again on Monday afternoon

Donald Trump perhaps broke a record for aggrandizement on Monday, when he referred to his “great and unmatched wisdom” following his decision to withdraw US troops from northern Syria. ...

Keen observers quickly cottoned on that there was something familiar about Trump’s phrase “in my great and unmatched wisdom” - and then they realised it sounded strikingly similar to the “great and powerful” Wizard of Oz.

How can anyone who talks like that not be carted off to an institution? He is completely bonkers, off the rails. People who are not mentally ill and who have a grip on reality do not say those kinds of things. He is clearly over the edge and any day now he is going to remember that he is in charge of the Button.

TRUMP SEES NEW POLLS AND ORDERS UKRAINE TO INVESTIGATE ELIZABETH WARREN

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—After looking at the most recent polls for the Democratic Presidential race, Donald J. Trump has ordered the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to investigate Senator Elizabeth Warren.

“What Elizabeth Warren and her crooked kids have been doing in Ukraine is a disgrace,” Trump told reporters on the White House lawn. “This is maybe the biggest scandal in the history of our country.”

After Jim Acosta, of CNN, pointed out that there had been no reports of any involvement in Ukraine on the part of either Warren or her children, Trump responded, “You bet there’s been no reporting, because you people are even more crooked than she is.”

Trump brushed aside an official statement by the Ukrainian government indicating that Warren’s children had never set foot in the country. “That is because the Warren kids are basically spies, and everyone knows that spies are invisible,” he said. “You people are so dumb.”

Concluding his remarks, Trump said that he would wait for the results of the Iowa caucuses before urging Ukraine to investigate Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

Any fool can make money, but it takes a special person to earn the respect of respectable people.

The Washington Post - Trump’s defense: You can’t impeach me. I impeach you.

October 7 at 6:23 PM

Fighting impeachment, Trump employs two familiar arguments.

One is to accuse his opponents of whatever he’s accused of.

The other is to blurt out obscenities. Before branding Romney an “ass,” Trump informed 65 million Twitter followers that the Democrats’ case is “BULLSH*T.”

(Objectively accurate headline: “Trump Tweets Bullsh*t.”) ...

The US founding fathers worried heavily that a charismatic President would gain too much over the other two branches, judicial and legislative, and over the US in general.

They were correct about the President being unbalanced (pun intended), but Trump is not charismatic:

"exercising a compelling charm which inspires devotion in others. Similar: charming, beguiling, attractive, appealing"

President Trump is just crass, and appeals to the worst in Americans.

Here's an article called "Donald Trump's interiors: make America crass again."

The man's taste is as revealing as any of his outbursts

Regarding his decision to withdraw from Syria, I feel sorry for the Kurds. They must be some of the unluckiest people in the world. They haven't caught a break going back to World War I.

Here's a decent article about Kurdish history.

BBC News - Turkey-Syria border: Trump threatens to 'obliterate' Turkish economy

breaking

"Disaster in the making"

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the top Republican in Congress, was among those who criticised the decision.

He said a "precipitous withdrawal of US forces from Syria would only benefit Russia, Iran and the Assad regime".

In a statement, Mr McConnell also said a majority in the Senate voted in January for an amendment expressing concern about the threat posed by Islamist militant groups in Syria and support for a continued military presence, and that "the conditions that produced that bipartisan vote still exist today".

Lindsey Graham, another Republican senator and a close ally of the president, called the move a "disaster in the making", and said he would introduce a Senate resolution opposing the decision and calling for it to be reversed. ...

Mitch publicly opposing Donald?  Treason!  He should be impeached!

I think he's seen the end - and he's terrified of what Putin can dump on him if he fails to deliver on promises.

His tweets aren't written by him - but by his accomplices in the WH.

The "in my great and unmatched wisdom" comment is trolling.  They want to deflect - control the dialogue so people argue about this - it's just a distraction.

Many wise people have called him a f&^%ing idiot.  He's worse than that.

Second Whistle Blown on Donald Trump

Jimmy Kimmel Live

A second whistle has been blown with first-hand information about Trump's call to Ukraine, text messages suggest quid pro quo, Secretary of Energy Rick Perry takes the fall for putting Trump up to the call, U.S. troops are being pulled out of Syria after a call between Trump and the President of Turkey, Trump tweets about his own 'great and unmatched wisdom,' we might finally get to see his tax returns, and Pat Robertson does something crazy on the air.
