The Washington Post - Trump’s parallel universe of diplomacy

23 Oct 2019

President Trump’s decision to pull troops out of Syria has been a success, according to the president.

At a hastily organized White House event Wednesday, Trump said he had proved the naysayers wrong and that the problems they predicted - from the freeing of Islamic State fighters to the massacre of Syrian Kurds to the loss of U.S. influence - had been avoided.

“Now people are saying, ‘Wow, what a great outcome! Congratulations!’ ” Trump said as he announced the United States would be lifting sanctions on Turkey and declaring the cease-fire in Syria permanent.

The president did not say who was offering this praise. ...

So the President Just Retweeted a ‘Trump’s Butt’ Parody Account

...@DJTrumpsButt explains in its Twitter bio, “I am @realDonaldTrump’s butt. Whatever he says, it’s really me that’s saying it. Follow me, or I will nuke you! #PutinPower #MAGA”

So to reiterate, the President of the United States retweeted a parody account of his own butt.

There’s only one question now: is this a step up or a step down from retweeting the shark bot?

I’m Not Free (apologies to Cream)

ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, I’m not free. [x8]

Feel with my tiny hands
Your pussy next to me
I can do just what I like
I feel free, I feel free, I feel free.

I can walk down the street, Fifth Avenue
Though the pavements are one huge crowd
Shoot who I like you know it’s true
And my mind wants to cry out loud

I feel free, I feel free, I feel free.

I can walk down the street, Fifth Avenue
Though the pavements are one huge crowd
Shoot who I like you know it’s true
And my mind wants to cry out loud
And my mind wants to cry out loud

Jail floor not like the sea
Impeachment not the sky
You’re the cloud and as you rain on me
I’m not free, I’m not free, I’m not free.

The Washington Post - Democrats say whistleblower’s testimony is unnecessary as other witnesses come forward

Oct. 25, 2019

The whistleblower who initially unmasked President Trump’s effort to pressure Ukraine for political favors has moved steadily toward the periphery of the House impeachment inquiry as several Democrats said Thursday they have ample testimony from senior Trump administration officials to back his claims.

Democrats were once prepared to take extraordinary steps to preserve the whistleblower’s identity under questioning, considering him central to their investigation.

But over the past month, they have grown cold to the idea of exposing him to additional scrutiny after several witnesses described how Trump leveraged access and military aid to secure a promise from Ukraine to launch investigations that could help his 2020 reelection bid.

“I think it’s quite clear we have a surfeit of evidence that corroborates in full every aspect of what happened and the policy they were pursuing,” said Rep. Gerald E. Connolly (D-Va.), a member of the Oversight and Foreign Affairs committees. ...

Bad news.

So they're still sore about the billion or so in settlements they had to pay for the "great" credit ratings they gave for shonky mortgage securities leading up to (and thus contributing to) the GFC meltdown. I'd rather trust a soothsayer at a circus stall.

That said - of course he could win.
