It was a good speech. But I cant get my head around doubling growth, fixing the infrastructure to be the best in the world. And, what he didn't mention, large tax cuts. That all doesnt cut the financial mustard. He must do these, as he pledged them. Plus the wall.

He also has the House, Congress and Senate. So he has the power to do stuff. Obamacare, he can now dismantle almost all of that.

Interesting that over 60% of voters want a pathway to immigration, but Trump doesn't what that. Yet the public do. Hard to know how all this will play out, but I dont see a capability to accomplish what he says he will do. Perhaps start off strong, and fade into oblivion as he did little.

It makes you wonder what he is now going to do first.

Backtrack on his many un-doable pledges?

He will annoy a lot of people but above all he is a businessman and profit motivated, war is not something he would engage in. The president is not a Dictator, there are many checks and balances in place. His rhetoric will now change.

Finch: Yep, awful for Hillary not to come out.

Think the side said something about Hillary being so greatful for everyone's support, couldn't come out to give a 5 minute speech though.

Very telling of her true attitude if she does not have a valid excuse for her vacancy.  At least go down with a fist held high.  If anything, based on what she's said at her previous rallies, it's just cemented her reputation as a liar.

If she was truly thankful, she'd at least do a CNN video conference or something.  Anything really.

For those who didn't catch the democratic party feed, the hilary camp were absolutely devistated.  Some collapsed on the floor, crying.  Mascara running left right and center.  Depressed and angry people leaving early.  According to Mike Hosking, so many people were leaving you could not get in to the building.

Trump camp was the exact opposite.  People chanting "Drain the swap!  President Trump!"  Throwing their MAGA hats up in to the end.

The behavior gets stranger from the mainstream media.  Trump obviously has it, but nobody is calling it yet.

But, she wanted to wait for every vote, just in case. Trump would have done that, no question. But she gave up not too long after. yes, could have given a video speech for sure, after conceding.

Anyone else Notice it's 9/11?

Honestly, I am lost for words. I am horrified, but like @Rikkitic, I need to eat crow, because I never once thought the electoral college would see him anywhere NEAR the Whitehouse. I've pretty much been wrong about every step he has made, it defies belief.

It's only fair, though, to give the guy grudging respect for what he has achieved. He has never held office for crying out loud.

All I can say now, is that America will now need to live with the consequences of their actions, and clearly with 8 years of Bush under their belts, I guess it's not really that surprising they picked him. Also worth noting, neither candidate was fantastic, just different major problems.

I went upstairs, and kissed my kids (4 and 7) good night, with a heavy heart, wondering what will happen in their foreseeable future, envious of the ignorance to the things that are happening in the world right now.

I was pretty disappointed in her honestly, does make me question if she would have been a better choice anyways. It was closeish race to who was worse, with him having a bit of a lead, but she hasn't exactly left me feeling confident if he was president either.

Reluctantly, I'm going to say that I called it. With the same mixed feelings as @muppet above.

I did too, as I took this election as time for a change, that it would be a Republican landslide that he almost loses. But it is a landslide, with him. Thats huge.

CNN coverage shows latinos weren't the issue, female vote wasn't the issue, it was about class. The working man.

The question is, why oh why would they believe his plan would work to restore the working class to their prior position?

Having said that, all along I've argued his plan to be elected would fail, and I was wrong about that.....

I am just wondering if right now, 10 million Mexicans are building a wall, under the cover of darkness to keep out refugee Americans out :)

Trumps got it.  I've been calling Hilary this entire time.  Maybe I'm guilty of drinking the media coolaid.

They are refusing to call it, but it's pretty obvious.

Very strange behavior from the Democratic Party. For those not following. Hilary decided not to show up to her own party, sent the guy that was implicated in her biggest scandal to talk on her behalf, and even then he only spoke for 30 seconds or less.   It's very unusual behavior and it's strange. There is a chance something has happened to Hilary.  Likely health related than anything as per footage from her previous rallies and her voice most of all.

There is speculation now that Hilary's stooges will raise hell about voter fraud.  How gloriously ironic!

There is literally nothing anyone can lob at him now.  People called him an ignoramus, and idiot, stupid.  Even though he built a multi-billion dollar empire.  They said he wasn't smart or popular enough to win the election.  They said he wouldn't even win the nomination.  They said he'd never get a foot in before that.

The mainstream media were completely against him, Hollywood were against him, other countries and the global economy were dead against him.  He spent the least amount of money than anyone elected president in history and with his own money.

He might be a bit of a man child and a bit up himself.  But Donald .J Trump is far, far from the idiot everyone said he was.

Hmm. I feel there is more to it. The working man voted them and him in. His loud brash attitude has resonated with the working man, who has had enough, and wanted change.

No, he is not an idiot, no one thinks that. He just acts like one. While he doesnt have any political skills, he will have a power base of people behind him. But his policies are not doable. Yes he can repeal Obamacare now, and undo other Obama stuff, but he cant double growth, build the wall, replace all the ailing infrastructure with the best in the world. Big tax cuts, etc. Great pledges, but cannot happen, which will be his problem this day in 4 years time.

I think credit where credit is due trump has managed to pull of the biggest con in history . Which of course is what he is good at. Now we get the docile acceptance speech being polite about Clinton. A complete hypocrite, just like the world leaders who supposedly have rung to congratulate him. Got to love politicians. In some ways trump should fit right in. Your God arn't you glad we live in New Zealand.

I had my TV on Aljazeera & my PC on the CNN site most of the time.    CNN did an awesome job with their maps.    You could put the mouse cursor above each county and it would give you an update on who was leading and what percentage had been counted.    I found it was easy to predict a state long before Aljazeera had called it.    As for five thirty eight Nate Silver had consistently said that Trump had about a one in three chance of winning, so 538 actually did better than some of the other sites.

My brother and his family in SoCal are thrilled, judging from the "Yee-Ha" text messages I have been getting!

He is going to not go to war wish Russia or drop any nukes.  You know,  like all the fear mongerers on here and other places have been saying.

No he's going to tell Putin that it's OK to invade the Balkin states and he won't interfere. He also wants to run down NATO.

NATO has been running itself down for some time in the (erroneous) belief that life is all sweet and nasty wars won't happen anymore.

Very few NATO countries have complied with their defence spending requirements under the Treaty for some years.

Trump has rightly said that they cannot reasonably do that and still expect the US to carry the can.

I was really disappointed with 538 the stuff I saw showed a landslide for Clinton on Electoral votes a few days ago. I wouldn't trust them next time around.
