The fact check is that we aren't qualified to judge this and neither is Twitter.

This is a serious allegation that needs evidence.

If there is evidence, then the only recourse is to take it to Court.

The Media would cover that.

Which means there was no evidence?

Perhaps *shock* he may be accused of something he didn't do? 🤔

When I see a reply like that, I think you are trying to lead me into a statement I didn't make or you are completely stupid.

freitasm: Can you folks please stop with excessive quotes?

In recent posts, I was probably most guilty of that.

Apologies.

Although, often the interface makes it difficult to the avoid that.

So I'm either baiting you or stupid? Hmmm...

1) a person lays a serious charge before the court, but is not willing to be named
2) said person lays huge allegations before a (very muddy on both sides) presidential campaign, which even the press are unable to report due to the way the charge was laid
3) the person then schedules a major press conference to out the accused before the court date
4) finally the accuser drops the whole case shortly before it begins, without any shred of evidence ever being presented...

and I think to suggest that maybe the accused might even be innocent and I must be either baiting you or stupid?
At worst you could call me naive, but the trail above can clearly be read in more than one way if you think I'm "stupid" to see the obvious linkage, and not the "smoke = fire lets believe him guilty without ANY evidence.

Finally, IANAL, but AFAIK sex with an underage partner is a criminal case, decided by a prosecutor, not a civil case able to be 'dropped' by a plaintiff??

Not necessarily. The woman says she has withdrawn her complaint because she fears for her life.

Perhaps *shock* he may be accused of something he didn't do? 🤔

Perhaps. Or perhaps he has identified her, or her witness, and threatened one or other of them, or paid one or other of them off. We could speculate ad nauseum about what it means.

Legally, it means he is innocent of those charges. The end.

Interestingly, President-Elect Trump has tried to contact Mr Key to offer his condolences, I think that's a good sign. The guy is obviously not without compassion.

Not sure. If 12v batteries and jump leads will get info that saves thousands i'm good with that.

Save only thousands?

Why you could make millions.  Charge an audience for tickets and turn it into a TV show.  Right up Trump's alley - a real win-win.

There are a number of conclusions you could draw that wouldn't be anywhere near as inflammatory. Perhaps take a deep breath and offer the benefit of the doubt.

Trump appoints Bannon. Nothing there to change my mind about him being a rotten person.

The US have elected him for change, it won't happen while he picks safe, conservative long-term people that aren't interested in change.

Indeed they did.  But I thought that the plan for change was to "Make America Great Again".

"Great" to me would mean having an objective for increasing freedom and wealth for all, so either economic liberalism as per what "establishment" GOP stood for (some change from Democrat values) and less state interference.

What they're getting is social conservatism combined with intervention in free markets, and strong authoritarianism.  Bannon's involvement assures it.  It's a government for wartime - very effective for Winston Churchill of course, but it isn't those times - and I suspect Churchill would have been on the other side - opposing Trump's regime.

I'd kind of hoped that "change" might have meant "progress" - not a reversion to the times when men were men, women knew their place, and n*ggers ran scared.

Because that's the consequence of the kind of "conservatism" that Trump is implementing.  Whole new classes / cultures denied the rights of citizenship, to be treated as less than human.

That is not what made America "great".

He said what he said to get to where he is. Means nothing to me. Did show the world what kind of person he is. But he was an open book. Or so the Americans were led to believe.

What he's going to do next, not even he knows.
