Well that's over I hope despite our political leanings we move on with our lives as usual and support this new government. For those of you who are against the collation you only have another 3 years to wait (probably only 2 before major changes are implemented) and then have your chance to change. But lets get behind this Government and do the best for our country.

Right, you as you did with the National led Government for the past 9 years?

Getting behind this Government and "do the best for our country" are mutually exclusive terms in my view.

According to MMP, she won it fair and square and I have no complaints.

Anyway just heard him speak - the coalition is between NZF and Labour, not the Greens, and I quote the live feed, "[he] hates [the Greens]".

Awesome! I'm waiting for the promised Dunedin hospital next year.

The Greens are getting ministerial portfolios, proportional, so maybe 2 or 3

You mean the tax cuts? @wiggum will be a bit miffed.

End of the day this is not the 70's. Strikes every week, the red commies and unions on one side and the rich and famous on the other. They are both centralist parties, one with a social bend, one with a wealth bend. Its actually quite minor to most of us. That there is a coalition this time, means that radical moves wont happen. Think water tax, think GST. Its a conservative lean as with all coalitions. It should reduce neoliberalism, NZis a bit too small for that. It like a 4 cm square tropical fish tank, it just doesn't work. But you also dont want over-regulation.

MMP did work, yes.

I just watched JA telecast, they appear to me, (not being a political whiz) that its a Labour/ NZF coalition. Greens frozen out as the media said. So you are right. But JA said they will get ministerial posts, proportionate. That is a sound compromise. Confidence and Supply. Ministerial posts. And a say. What I take from this, is that go green, go eco, they all want it, but pop that left social extreme in the bin before you enter the premises.

Dammit, I forgot about the tax cuts! Well, I guess the charities I was going to give it to will have to look elsewhere, because that money is gone and any other donations will be going to help pay my ten cents a litre Auckland petrol tax.

If they can pull a rabbit out of the hat and get everyone paying their fair share, instead of those of us stuck in the middle paying for it all, that will be a better fairer NZ from my perspective.

In the Phillipines the average hourly wage of a cleaner is 29 Philippine Pesos and the conversion to the NZ dollar is below:

29 Philippine Peso equals

0.799 New Zealand Dollar

And if you looked up comparative wages for countries such as India and Bangladesh, it would be similar.

So, for the same job in NZ they are able to earn fifteen to twenty times more. I would imagine that for jobs such as stacking shelves in supermarkets it would be similar.

So of course these people will want to come to NZ and take English courses & try to gain residency/citizenship eventually. The problem as so many others have pointed out, is

that these courses are only there to make money & prop up a ridiculous immigration policy. There is quite a bit of English spoken in the Phillipines and I am sure that there are

tertiary schools that could teach the language quite well.

No wonder why the supermarkets and cleaning companies employ so many. They are excellent workers & good people. And probably commit crimes at a far smaller rate

than for the general Kiwi population.

The point I am trying to make is that the current immigration policies are untenable & this is what Labour and NZ First will begin to address.

They can be given portfolios outside Cabinet.

I watched all four speeches. I thought Bills was very good. A little niggle but thats ok. Very good. WP said that the issue with immigration is that too may are unskilled, which is your point. He does want 10k, but its more the ones we need not ones to fill up bus seats, or bedrooms.
