From the time the writs were filled which gave the final result it took circa 10 days to form the Government for the next 1000 days that is not a debacle

The time it took was not my issue (though WP repeatedly changing his mind as to the timeframes was frustrating).

How it was presented at the end in prime time with the Leaders of both parties supposedly not told until it was announced in the press (which is a lie, as both leaders knew at least 1.5 hours before the final announcement) was the equivalent of a centre ring circus event.

So you can read his mind ?

No, can you?

National have been the winner in past coalition negotiations, and dependant on coalition and supply agreements.

Criticising the process could be sabotaging their own future.

My issue was the theatrics. I would have been fine with the time frame if WP had of either not said crazy stuff like "we will have it sorted within a week" which he should have known better than to do.

I also have an issue that WP who he tried to position himself as the hero of for farmers and regions, and then went against them in supporting Labour. Federated Farmers aren't happy. I'd say his credibility with them is done.

MMP only works when there are a number of smallish parties with different or flexible political leanings.

When WP retires NZF are toast so we are going to end up with just 2 large parties and 2 minnows (assuming David Seymour carries on) that always side with the same party so, even though most people don't seem to want it, that's pretty much the same as FPP.

Applause was heard in the Labour Caucus well before the announcement. JA certainly didn't find out at 7pm. She also scheduled a press conference right after his, also before the announcement.

I wasn't claiming to be able to - you were suggesting that he was "thinking" something which conflicted with what he was saying.

I think there will be just 3 main parties, the Greens might flourish now, and be a large minority party, than a minnow. ACT must go. NZF as you say will falter and if Greens make the most of eco policies they will pick up a lot of younger votes, maybe a large number of party votes.

That's not a cite.  Reports of "clapping" mean absolutely nothing.

It's fake news until you come up with something substantial to verify what you claim.

But you still just end up with 2 pretty constant left/right 'blocks' as the Greens won't go with National, apparently under any circumstances. We need small parties who are happy to negotiate an arrangement with pretty well anybody for MMP to work properly.

A government of the people, for the people, by Winston Peters.

Let me fix that for you:

A government of Wellington Central/Grey Lynn, for Wellington Central/Grey Lynn, by Winston Peters.

You're wrong. Winston got most of his (above average) support from the 'provinces', and less (below average) support from urban areas.

One journalist thought he heard clapping from Labour's office. Turns out it was the television, according to an official. They were watching Family Feud.
