Twyford must have some kind of hidden leverage. Nothing else makes sense. I know Kelvin Davis is number 2 for political reasons, but Grant Robertson sure deserves it a hell of a lot more. I can't be bothered looking further.

Possibly who know's, Yeah not sure why Grant is not number 2 I would have thought he would have been. Personally I think they are hurting themselves moving Twyford up and not down, I don't think I have spoken to anybody that likes him, he has screwed any portfolio he has touched.

The point is he is only deputy leader for political reasons. Nothing at all to do with ability or value.

Do you think political value may be important to a politician?

I think sunshine is important to flowers. What is the point of your question?

You are discounting Davis contribution when I don't think you understand it. He's not particularly effective on TV or in the house but is known to be very active outside of Wellington and viewed very well by the Maori constituency. His performance as Maori affairs minister has generally been viewed positively. He killed the mega prison at Waikeria and generally seems to be performing with corrections. Tourism at this point is a poison chalice.

He may be valueless to you but is immensely valuable to Labour and is vital for them in the Maori seats.

I am aware that he is well-supported by the Maori constituency. That is why he is number 2 even though he is not particularly effective on TV or in the House. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone who is?

And I did not say he was valueless. Quit putting words in my mouth.

You said he was deputy leader regardless of ability or value. I'm not sure how that is putting words in your mouth. Whatever.

Here is what I said: The point is he is only deputy leader for political reasons. Nothing at all to do with ability or value.

That does not equate to saying he has no value. It says the reasons for his position are political. Of course you can make the argument, as I'm sure you will, that his value lies there, which means he does have value. You can twist anything you like in any way you like if you are sufficiently desperate to make a point. I don't care.

Labour's party list is out, How the hell did Twyford go up the list and not down to the bottom is beyond me. Clark has been dropped and screwed up way less than Twyford.

If that doesn't tell you how sincere Labour really was about light-rail or Kiwibuild then nothing will.

Not really. Little got 3 last time as part of stepping down gracefully. His list position is consistent with his cabinet rank, even if his performance has been excellent.

Twyford is a classic Hanlons Razor story. The light rail issue is far more complex than the kiwibuild one.

Light rail is going through a boom globally and it will get worse with infrastructure stimulus. Attracting contractors at a decent price will get more difficult. These aren't easy projects to execute.

This is total crap. Migrant workers who can't work, can't get home and the government won't give them a subsistence level of support. So much for being kind or showing moral leadership.

New Zealand has certainly lost the right to lecture Australia on its treatment of migrants.

It's usually a "strength" of Labours that they have traditionally filled these gaps well, I am really surprised to see them acting like that. The 2 tier benefit thing as well.

Anyone have experience on setting up crowdfunding? It's something I'd contribute to. People in NZ should have at least the basics.
