Unemployment hits a 10 year low at 3.9%. This is some good news for the Coalition Government.

Yes. Something else to blame the previous government for.....

It's kind of hard to get a judgement on how unemployment is going to look. On one hand you have immigration supposedly dropping, so there will be I'd imagine an increase simply because there will be pressure because of less employees available in the pool of jobs which given the infrastructure requirements etc is likely to increase, however, it would be kind of interesting to see what the impact of the increase in the minimum wage will be in a vacuum. I hear of a lot of cafe owners, and lower end wage payers like painters, plasters etc etc saying they expect to have to drop some staff or moderately increases prices which they expect may cause a down turn in business.

I think as I have said before, most businesses support an increased minimum wage, but not as high and not as fast.

So yet again, JA has absolved her staff/ministers of any wrong doing, BEFORE all the facts were in, and now it turns out that the immigration minister didn't read the entire set of documentation he was sent. That won't be the only factor I am sure, but this isn't the first time JA has done this.

It's staff management 101 to reserve judgement until all the information is in or the investigation is complete.

Maybe she wasn't planning on reading the information she got.

Personally, I'd say that there's a mixture of old and new governments reflected in those results.

What I did find interesting was that while the official unemployment rate has reportedly dropped to 3.9%, the number of people on benefits has increased.  There's likely more than one metric required to get the overall picture.

Well, at least they're consistent in their approach to performance-measurement for state sector employees.

Reminds me of the approach of giving out participation medals at sports events that made the rounds a few years back, and the no "fail" marks in exams.

This Government doesnt understand accountability.

Given recent circumstances (Curran) and publicity over that, Shane Jones' only possible excuse might have been if he was Amish or Brethren or some other sect that don't watch TV, listen to the radio, read newspapers, and blocks his ears when such worldly matters are discussed in parliament.

Incredible.

I'd like to say I am surprised, but I can't even muster fake surprise.

To be honest, the idea that he blocks his ears, sounds more plausible.

Putting him in charge of dispensing such a huge amount of money seemed a dumb idea in the first place.

One of Queens hit could be a new Coalition anthem.......

"......

How do you think I'm going to get along
Without you when you're gone?
You took me for everything that I had
And kicked me out on my own

Are you happy, are you satisfied?
How long can you stand the heat?
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, I'm gonna get you, too
Another one bites the dust......."

Dollars to donuts nothing comes of it. Ardern will say it's Winstons problems, Winston will bluster, make a fuss about an unrelated issue and it will be forgotten about.

If Jones stays then JA will display astonishing inconsistency and hypocracy. She also needs to deal with Lees-Galloway.

This program is a disgrace. On top of the fact it's basically gifting hundreds of thousands of dollars in capital gains to any buyer, the fact JA called them market price is just crazy. If they were being sold at market prices, they wouldn't need to exist in the first place.

The price cap on the eligibility is just insane as well. Despite that, there is so little interest.

She has just said over the weekend that she wouldn't accept Lees-Galloway resignation if given. Seems she still blames the officials.
