Is this some kind of alt-right fantasy? Ardern is like John Key. As long as she remains leader, some form of Labour government will rule.

I think you mean as long as Winston continues as leader of his party.

He is the only reason she is PM and Labour are in power..

You may find the quote function useful.

If you are referring to my post then I note three things: -

1) I was not making a prediction, simply outlining my preferences;

2) Labour rules with Winston's support and Winston is fickle and not getting any younger

3) I do not support the alt-right and I find any such suggestion offensive and insulting.

I am not sure National will be in power if Bridges continues as Leader and definately not should *shudder* Collins ever became Leader.

I would add that the NZ Green Party may increase it's electoral share and allow Labour to pick an alternative coalition partner to NZF. I think NZF lives and dies on Mr Peters very much like Act lived of Rodney Hyde.

1) @Freitasm doesn't like unnecessary quoting so I try to avoid it.

2) Polls suggest that Labour could rule in the future without Winston.

3) I apologise if my alt-right comment offended you. I was being tongue in cheek. Of course I do not place you in that camp. I know you are much, much better than that.

Listen to RNZ interview Its quite long about 10 mins.

Some very interesting questions asked by the interviewer.  I would have thought that you would know exactly how many women lodged a complaint. not perhaps 4 or 5.

The guy in my opinion is just digging a bigger hole for himself

Alt-right is a rather inappropriate and derogatory term to use in this situation.

Putting that aside, I'd like to think that a party remains in power because it delivers much needed policies to society rather than just for having a specific leader.

A short quote to make it clear exactly who you are responding to is most helpful. I'm pretty sure it isn't the sort of quote he is concerned by.

Or he is trying to balance the needs and rights of all the parties involved and keep things vague to protect all parties. It's an incredibly difficult situation, with lots of sensitivity from multiple parties.

Not everything is a conspiracy.

Excessive quoting is annoying, but commenting without quoting *relevant* sections for context isn't much less so.

I do try. Whenever a reply takes me longer than a few seconds, I check first to see if something else has slipped in. But lately even that doesn't always work. I will try harder.

I think it's far more complicated than that.

For starters most policies don't have impact within a single election cycle.  So second term is really the result of creating the right impression and not making any major bungles.

Luck has a lot to do with it.  Both good times and bad times can cause the electorate to want to retain the current government.

I don't think there can be any question that Labour is in government because of the leader. As has been pointed out, the policies didn't change when the leader did. At most it was just a change of emphasis. Of course the ideal situation is good policies combined with a charismatic leader. I'm glad Labour got in but I'm not blind to how it happened.

No disagreement there.  She has real star-power.

What concerns me is that Ardern may be all about sentiment, rather than action.  It's only been a year though.
