From bad to worse. Terrible things happening in Portland. This is playing directly into Trump's hands. I really fear for the rule of law in America.
What a cluster-truck.

The Atlantic: PORTLAND, Ore.— [removed] has worked on the assembly line of a Daimler Trucks North America plant here since 1994. But he says that in recent years he’s experienced things that seem straight out of another time. White co-workers have challenged him to fights, mounted “hangman’s nooses” around the factory, referred to him as “boy” on a daily basis, sabotaged his work station by hiding his tools, carved swastikas in the bathroom, and written the word “n*****” on walls in the factory, according to allegations filed in a complaint to the Multnomah County Circuit Court in February of 2015.

USA! USA! USA!
to be fair, you're comparing apples with bananas
In the first scenario, the cops didn't see the shooting, so had no idea the guy walking past them with hands in the air, was the shooter
You chose to interpret that the cops didn’t see the shooting. People (given the deplorable past behaviour of US cops, including fist-bumping these racist militia types etc) are rightly questioning this view given the proximity of some of the cops.
I see you are out to spread more “truth” beyond your usual doom and gloom false equivalence?
Hotel: "Let's call the police because we have an armed white man on the lose."
Result: "Body worn camera footage released by the Tempe Police Department shows Kerzaya holding the [black] man at gunpoint for three minutes while he confirmed with dispatch that the man was an employee at the hotel. Kerzaya is heard on the footage telling the Black employee, "I am responding to somebody with a firearm who matches your description." Though just two minutes earlier on the same footage, Kerzaya confirms with the hotel manager that the suspect with the gun was a white man. The Black employee is heard on the body camera footage repeatedly saying, "I am not a threat to you; I work here," while kneeling on the ground with his hands up."
Yes, no systemic racism at all.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has ordered federal agencies to stop racial sensitivity training, labelling it "divisive, anti-American propaganda".

I only chose to look at the available evidence. There are several videos of different angles of the shooting, which he'll BTW likely get a reduced sentence or even acquittal because of claim of self-defence. Then theres what the Kenosha police chief said in the press conference.
Police didn't see Kyle Rittenhouse as a threat when they drove past the 17-year-old now charged with homicide
Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis said Friday he doesn’t think it was a lapse in judgment for police officers to drive by the 17-year-old charged in the fatal shootings of two protesters and the wounding of a third Tuesday night.
“The totality of the circumstances, nothing suggested this person or anybody else who was armed around them was the person,” Miskinis said at a Friday afternoon press conference.
“There were a lot of people in the area, a lot of people with weapons and, unfortunately, a lot of gunfire,” Miskinis said. “So what the officers were … driving into in this case was a ‘shots fired’ complaint, not a shooting, not a ‘person down’ complaint.”
As police vehicles pass Rittenhouse, a voice says "Someone injured, straight ahead" over what sounds like a police loudspeaker.
Miskinis said Rittenhouse walking toward police with his hands up wouldn’t have been out of the ordinary in that situation.
On a recording Miskinis heard, officers were telling Rittenhouse to get out of the way.
“Clearly they’re not seeing him as a suspect or a threat of any kind,” Miskinis said. “He’s allowed to leave, where he goes to Antioch and turns himself in because we have no idea that he’s involved.”
The officers, he said, were focused on what they see down the road.

False? There's nothing false about pointing out the Dems are not an opposition party, and Bidens 47 year voting record is virtually the same as Republicans.
I'm past the doom and gloom, because I understand what the real problem is, most here seem to be indulging in magical thinking. Its not Trump. And Biden isn't the answer. Electoral reform to disrupt the 2 party duopoly system of power, is the only way out of this sinking ship (think NZ going FPP-MMP)
gzt: Portland is a tough place
Also one of the last 2 states in the US where you are not allowed to pump your own petrol (!)

Everyone will be sure to trust the Kenosha Police PD's version of events and what evidence they choose to put forward.
*yawn*

Their version of events, in that instance make sense to me, and matches up with the public videos of the instance
Instead of sweeping generalizations, recommend turn your audio up, watch the various videos on Youtube and pretend you're a cop inside an armored BearCat, no where even near when the shooting happens
Well, how about this for a bit of consistency: every time there are videos of clearly outrageous conduct by US (and other cops) captured on video, the standard PD response is the BS that the videos don't tell the whole story. In this case, this is precisely the case. For a start:
(1) those video(s) don't show the full sight lines available to all the cops;
(2) this is a small PD where one of their own has pumped 7 bullets into a defenceless person in prima facie absolutely outrageous circumstances; and
(3) we know for a fact that US cops are well enmeshed with questionable characters like the shooter and those so called private militias, so anything they say about these people should be treated with scepticism.
These are standard arguments that any sensible inquirer of fact or lawyer will run in any criminal trial context. And I of course know far more about this area than you. So instead of just endlessly parroting the same BS, recommend that you keep your own generalisations to yourself.
I'm not saying cops aren't a blue gang with qualified immunity under US law, and some cops aren't gungho trigger happy racists paid peanuts.
I'm not saying the local Sherriff hasn't said lots of sketchy racist things in TV interviews over the years
I'm not saying a black man could open carry an AR15 during a riot and not be stopped by LEO.
I'm simply pointing out, if you watch the videos of the shootings, and then of the cops armored vehicles showing up, you can identify the buildings city blocks and cross streets on Google maps and imagine if could see the flash of those 2 shots, thru the A2 flash hider on his AR15, while the rifle was pointed in the opposite direction from where the LEOs come from.
Its not endlessly parroting BS. There doesn't seem to be any evidence that they saw the shooting and let a murderer flee, let alone because he's white.
