networkn:
I see a Tui ad here.
Anyone recall the number of times Labour complained whilst in opposition at the 'appearance' of wrongdoing?
The number of 'clerical errors' and 'oversights' that happen are amazing.
I have had about enough of Megan Woods as I can take.
She is starting to remind me of Phil Tyford.

She is arrogant so and so I think, certainly something she has no reason to be given her performance.
At least Clare Curran had the good sense to understand she was out of her depth.

Technofreak: I'm always somewhat skeptical of people who trade on a title like Dr that has been gained by doing a doctorate rather than a medical doctor.
Some PhDs are easier than others, but all require a great deal of effort over a considerable period of time, unless they have come from diploma mills. People with genuine PhDs have worked hard for them and have every right to take pride in them and use them where appropriate. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a PhD claiming the title of 'doctor'. There is everything wrong with pretending that it has anything to do with a medical qualification, and few if any do.
Like Nick Smith? Did he use the Dr part himself?
I know Jonathan Coleman (who was my local MP for a while and was, quite frankly, useless) traded on the Dr bit from time to time.
Would have to be the worst portfolio to have it would not matter what you did it would be wrong.

Handle9: This is crappy and generally just dumb. Treasury's model was wrong. So what? Most economic models have been wrong in the pandemic.

Dumb to block MPs getting to ask more question about how the forecasts are modeled or dumb to ask the question?

Dumb to block them asking questions. That's what select committees are for.
I feel like who lets who speak at select committees is getting near beltway levels of politics and very few people outside of Wellington will care, so they feel they can likely get away with it.

What is the justification for doing this? They must have one.

So they are just saying we are going to do this because we can and you can't stop us nyah nyah?

For the last couple of days the lead article in our local paper has been the Government proposals for water reforms.
This could turn into a real banana skin moment for the Government. Most of the local councils around here are dead against it and seriously question the Government figures that are justifying the reforms.
Apparently the Government is spending $3 million on promoting the reforms. You may have seen the adverts on TV.
