Bridging the gap...

Maybe Brian Tamaki is trying to draw in other groups like the walking/cycling bridge pressure group to boost his numbers.
This seems to be the way things go with these now, pull in groups to your private messaging groups and radicalize.

Hopefully people do see beyond this, excuse for a covid spreading party.

A parade of Harleys, Utes, and cycling/walking would just be for Brian Tamaki's aggrandizement.
Seems ACT and NZ First want to fight over his metaverse, National cruising the boundary.

In what is sure to be the first of many now..

"A High Court challenge questioning the legality of Covid-19 vaccination mandates for Police and Defence Force employees has been upheld, with the court determining that a government mandate requiring frontline employees to be jabbed is an unjustified incursion of the Bill of Rights.

In a decision released today, Justice Francis Cooke determined that ordering frontline police officers and Defence staff to be vaccinated or face losing their job was not a "reasonably justified" breach of the Bill of Rights."

Some further context...

“I should make it clear what this case is not about. The order being set aside in the present case was not implemented for the purposes of limiting the spread of Covid-19.”

Instead, it was about the continuity of service of police and Defence.

So in essence (based on the reporting) what he was saying (and this was the same judge the struck down the aviation security workers case last year) was that it is OK to mandate to stop the spread of covid, however this case ( pertaining to around 164 police in an overall workforce of 15,682 and 115 in an overall Defence workforce of 15,480 ) the mandate was implemented to allow for continuity of service, not halting the  spread of Covid.

Therefore the bar was not  high enough to warrant suspension of the rights accorded in the Bill of Rights relating to Religion  and Medical procedures

Clint

Edit: changed required to implemented :)

NZ First and Labour may not be able to work together again after Winston's stunt visiting the protesters.

Don't worry, the Greens have shown they don't expect anything in exchange for their support, and are happy to compromise on their core values, so, so long as the two of them can get enough votes :(

So at the 13th hour the bridge is shut to southbound traffic......

That's twice now, the precedent is set, bring enough people and you can do what you want

Sigh. Glad I am not over the bridge today.

Other protests have been allowed over the bridge, so I guess, they really couldn't stop it.

But to say you'll not allow it and allow it... It's not a great look, especially after Wellington and the number of times the police backtracked.

I support a careful and gentle approach to handling the protests (relative to some others here), but if you aren't going to do something, you don't say you will.

The police are basically following the premise by which the Government enforces it's own policies + 'rules' though, so at least you know what you are getting and no one should be that surprised.

Protesters in Wellington are literally wearing tinfoil hats.

The dumb. The deplorables.

Yes it does seem that we can no longer rely on the Police to do any restraint of Tamaki and Co.

I also hope they take precautions in the sack and make their men wear hats of the other kind. Breeding with this lot could be scary!

Okay, so the Police will definitely be stopping this one, which is good.

Definitely.  No competent police force would allow such disruption after the lessons learnt in Wellington.  Nekk minute...
