freitasm:...A friend commented today that Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is the most successful KGB officer ever. His trainers would be proud.

Any trainer who hasn't accidently fallen out of a hotel window, would be proud.

What a bunch... US sides with Russia in UN resolutions on Ukraine

The US has twice sided with Russia in votes at the UN to mark the third anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, highlighting the Trump administration's change of stance on the war.

First the two countries opposed a European-drafted resolution condemning Moscow's actions and supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity, which was passed by the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Then they backed a US-drafted resolution at the UN Security Council calling for an end to the conflict but containing no criticism of Russia.

The Security Council resolution was passed but two key US allies, the UK and France, abstained in the vote after their attempts to amend the wording were vetoed.

Windows seem to be for those not too close to Putin, maybe they just kept away from windows.
To send messages to those that know more seems he goes for different methods.

Some figures who were close to Putin or who opposed him later died under mysterious circumstances.

  • Mikhail Manevich (1997): A deputy governor of St. Petersburg, gunned down in what some believe was a political hit.
  • Anatoly Sobchak (2000): Putin’s former mentor and mayor of St. Petersburg died suddenly of a heart attack, though some suspect poisoning.
  • Alexander Litvinenko (2006): Former FSB agent poisoned with polonium-210 in London after accusing Putin of crimes.

Looking at all of this, it appears that Putin is a proper Bond Villain, while Trump thinks he's "very scary and powerful" as Dr Evil.

Meanwhile the world (in particular Ukraine) suffers under their "leadership" and we edge ever closer to a proper third World War.

Watching a bit of media before dinner.

Its all sorted... Trump said Zelensky is a dictator. And he started the war. Now, he is a brave man.

FFS

70 million people are affected. World Order is affected. But all of this is managed by a barely average KGB agent who is now a smart dictator, and a vastly less than average POTUS who is a marketing expert. Its a tennis match between two people, who cares about the spectators. I.e. 70 million Ukrainians (those that are alive) and the rest of the global populous.

My view is that there was a minerals deal that suited both, UKR can live with that.

Trump just wants his deal. Zelensky pushed for security protection, and Trump wasn't interested "thats just a 2% issue" and will Putin break a ceasefire? "I dont think he will"

Thats a very tenuous comment, given Putins repeated ignorance of rules, laws and signed agreements.

Trump wants the deal, not interested in security for the attached nation.

UKR ok with the deal, and obviously we need security assurances, which are pushed aside by Trump.

I feel Europe will step up. Trump holds all the cards, more or less what he said today, but if EU steps up, that slides USA sideways to a degree. If EU stepped up, they got the minerals deal to support their costs and the rebuild, thats a large shift in global geo-politics. Probably get worse until the US elects a normal leader, then all of this will roll back, leaving the US as still big, but not as big, globally.

I just think it's ridiculous that it took the leader of a foreign country to stand up to the orange buffoon and point out all his lies, as opposed to Republicans who used to fall over themselves to do that in days-gone-by.

Now it seems to be a case of falling in line behind Dear Leader and everything he says is gospel, no matter how ridiculous (or wrong) it may be 🙄

To many Trump is edge-lord joking about Greenland, Canada, Gaza.
He is serious as are those around him egging this on.

So the setup with Ukraine, come to Washington to personally discuss.
Implying some 2 way negotiation.
Then presented with sign away your countries resources NOW ultimatum, don't worry about conditions.

Dictator to Dictator, of course Zelenskyy is not, has a legislature and people to consider.
A real Dictator would just confirm Trumps people have his Swiss Bank account number and sign.

On queue China issued another threat to Taiwan.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/feb/28/china-defence-ministry-taiwan-threat

""
China’s defense ministry spokesperson has warned Taiwan “we will come and get you, sooner or later”, after Taipei announced an expansion of military exercises.
""

Trump, Peter Thiel's sock puppet J D Vance , Elon Musk and TechBros who would be Oligarchs.
They have given a clear message to China's Xi, Russia's Putin that its carve up the world time.

Trumplicans carving up the world like its 1984.

If Assad could have held out, plans underway to normalize relations supported by UAE and Saudis
If opposition had not risked all by 'going all in' when they did.
Trump, a word from Putin, Elon, a word from Xi , for peace lets do a trade deal with Assad.

Somewhere along the way we will see South Korea getting a shakedown.
Philippines have to see China take more of its seas and offshore shoals an islands.
Pacific Islands signing security pacts and resource deals with China, getting CCP military bases to ensure they are safe

I still shake my head every day and cannot understand what kind of morals people have who voted for Trump for his second term. Zelensky showed the world today on camera what morons Trump and Vance really are. Only the EU came save Ukraine now. I would not be surprised a single bit if US actually starts supplying Russia with weapons instead. Would not surprise me one bit or start giving Russia intelligence against Ukraine. No one should trust US anymore.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Agree, sadly. These three countries, USA, UKR and the Russian Federation carry a large population. But, while many leaders lead the country, Trump and Putin are essentially dictators, they lead for themselves. Same as other dictators in the past and present. Putin wants his USSR back, Trump wants deals (and when they fail he blames others) Bankrupted 6 times, reneged on deals, left a wake of unpaid workers. I may be incorrect, but the Russian and USA population is not 1 each

There was one disrespectful aggressor J D Vance.

Trump pretty much asked why don't you just trust Putin and kiss and make up like nothing happened.
Zelenskyy was trying to explain what Putin has done to civilians, prisoners of war, the atrocity of Putin's war machine.

Zelenskyy was hardly getting beyond the 2014 start of the war and Putin's record broken promises.
Now Trump says it was 2015, Zelenskyy respectfully corrected Trump.
The destruction and the way Putin has pursued this war with his caravan of war crimes.

Trump was very 'poe faced' when British Prime Minister mentioned Russia paying reoperations.

It was then that J D Vance went off the rails to cut Zelenskyy off so he could not make his case to a % of MAGA who might be swayed.
The claim that Zelinskyy was being disrespectful to the President and USA and not thankful.

That had nothing to do with Zelenskyy trying to explain what he was virtually asked to explain.

Job done subject changed and it just went down from there.

Zelinskyy is willing to talk to any of them and invited them to Ukraine.
They won't go and won't hear him out they just want to interrupt and change the subject to your not wearing a suit.
Calling the tortured and dismembered of Bucha and the many other Bucha's a propaganda tour !

What a disgusting piece of ......
