Trump reneging on a deal ...  Refusing to pay... When has that ever... Oh wait...

Unfortunately like the grown and harvested crops for USAD already in warehouses, that DOGE cancelled contracts on. Small farmers awaiting their payments to then pay off the seed and costs to plant again left in lurch.

Trump can do the unprecedented and just cancel all the funded contracts underway for Bidens approved programs. US Military logistics probably doing heavy lifting, and Trump could throw a spanner in there too.

A number of programs probably/necessarily under longer term multi-year contracts to keep continuous manufacturing work going. Otherwise manufacturers won't expand production staff or facilities.

The continuous supply of long lead-time items, even new work like electronic countermeasures, or redesign of stinger with modern components.

Talking to a relative of mine the other day, I did see a meme online somewhere that said that Putin could just withdraw from Ukraine and the war would basically be over, but he said that was a "silly" suggestion and wasn't going to happen as Ukraine used to be part of the USSR, so (in Putin's mind) he was probably just reclaiming what was his own.

I guess it wouldn't also address the devastation and destruction left behind if he did just happen to pull out tomorrow.

Agree. While all this is newsworthy and Trump can spin it however he likes, its very sad. USAID gone, federal workers gone, Ukraine gone, stocks down, inflation up (I will excuse him from egg price inflation) tariff heaven. Sh!tshow is a tacky cliche, but it actually is. Its about $ and likes, not about people, whether that be Americans, Canadians, Mexicans, but the Russians, North Koreans , South Koreans, Japanese, Chinese are loving it (indirectly supported by Trump or tariff free)

Maybe some one to tell him that tariffs is a direct payment from American consumers to the US Treasury. And for those nations that are tariffed, thats a bummer, lower sales, so they will sell to other nations.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump ordered US troops to get into Ukraine to support Russia's "special operation."

He wouldn't be attacking an allied country and wouldn't be attacking a NATO country.

And he would rationalise it as "liberating the minerals from a dictator."

Putin is like Hitler (hoping that doesnt ban me re Godwins Law)

Hitler wanted Germany to control the world. He was an art student, less than average. His charisma fired up the population then he went on and attacked. Putin was a less than average KGB agent, he is sad and lonely that his beloved USSR folded, he wants it back.

Nothing would surprise me. He supported PRNK, China and Russia in denying that the war is Russia's fault at a UN Resolution, about 6 days ago. If Trumps 2.0 CV was 3 years in, lets hold on, but its not

Well as Trumps says at "charity begins at home." Even though Ukraine is not a charity, and has de-toothed Putin at a bargain price without no NATO soldiers killed.

(Some individuals from NATO countries—often former military personnel—have joined the Ukrainian armed forces as volunteers. Some of these foreign fighters have been killed in action.)

Trump, who has famously defrauded charities, now defrauds allies.

I'd say he's stepping up his game.

Trump Foundation Scandal (2018-2019) used foundation funds
  • to settle legal disputes
  • promote his presidential campaign
  • purchase a $20,000 portrait of himself.
  • misused funds meant for veterans after a fundraiser.
Eric Trump Foundation
  • raised money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital funneled into the Trump Organization instead of directly funding charity programs.
  • Trump’s golf courses overcharged the foundation for hosting fundraising events.

No need, DOGE fired a bunch of people working on avian influenza control. So he's culpable for that too, at least in part.

Kherson while retaken by Ukraine is part of the territory Russia annexed.
Putin considers Russia already won, even though they do not now occupy.
Annexed but not occupied also takes in the major city of Zaporizhzhia ( > 750K pop before war ) far from front.
Points straddling the Dnieper River.

Is territory what Trump wants Ukraine give up the contact line or, Putin's larger immutable annexed territory in addition.
Perhaps much more than that as Putin considers that in the bank already.

The problems with Trumps amorphous deal with no detail.
Ukraine just stopping shooting and relying on Putin's good will to not overrun them.

Given that throughout the vile treatment, war crimes on civilians, prisoners and his own Like an Assad.

Putin's Human Safari, a person tending their garden, firefighters, medics it matters not.

Trump wants a deal, the fate of Ukraine is not important. Give Russia what it illegally won, get the UKR minerals deal, crack a deal with Russia to feed them and the US money. (Russia's economy will tank big time in 6 to 8 months) The latter point is what will hit Putin, the citizens will revolt. He needs to hold on, hope EU goes in hard

Thomas Hawley Tuberville is an American politician and retired college football coach who is the senior United States senator from Alabama.

He is a horrible person, who enjoys strong arming opposition. Of course being an Alabama politician, there's a lot of sex abuse scandals around him.

He's happy to bully the US military famale personnel. He wanted to overturn the Pentagon policy of granting leave and travel expenses for military personnel who cannot obtain an abortion in the state where they are stationed. So he blocked every personnel move in the U.S. military that requires confirmation for many weeks. That failed. But Trump did him a solid recently an issued an executive order overturning the policy.

He previously posted this in 2022:

"Last night's @TuckerCarlson's interview with Putin shows that Russia is open to a peace agreement, while it is DC warmongers who want to prolong the war. That is why I'm voting to stop 60 BILLION MORE of our tax dollars to this conflict"

Trump and Putin Will Decide Ukraine's Future, GOP Senator Says: NewsWeek

Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville has said that President Donald Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin will decide the future of Ukraine, whose President Volodymyr Zelensky he claimed was "not even in the game."

Our "ally", the USA

Donald Trump bans UK from sharing US intelligence with Ukraine: The National Scot

According to the Daily Mail, UK intelligence agencies and military outlets have been ordered not to share any US-generated intelligence with Ukraine.

The ban reportedly affects the likes of the UK Government’s Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), spy agencies and intelligence branches of the Ministry of Defence.

Since the conflict began three years ago, the UK and other Western security partners such as Australia and New Zealand have shared intelligence with Ukraine in a bid to help the country defend itself against Russian forces.

However, it is feared the ban from the US will further hamper Ukraine's chances to defend itself.

UK military intelligence expert Phil Ingram told the Mail: “The United States's instruction to stop allies sharing US-derived intelligence with Ukraine is what I would expect.

“The US's intelligence partners, including Britain, have had their authority to pass on intelligence revoked.
...
“The US will tightly control distribution of its intelligence to Ukraine through agencies based in Kyiv.”

IMHO thats like sending some people to the slaughter. It may be a power play, but thats what it is

Watching media lately, chiefly CNN, also Fox and BBC. USA is not a reliable trade partner or defense partner. While that may not instigate massive changes tomorrow, it will start a solid trend next week, next 6 months and years to come. EU and many other global regions will look after friends. US is becoming isolationist, so the rest of us will do what we do.
