Bit of a stuff up by Biden, They trying to roll back the statement, Reveals US intentions to seek a regime change. This might not go well for ukraine, it kind of frees up putin from any restraint.

IMHO

Given that France, and Germany have a great relationship over years with Putin.
French companies seem to be most shy about sanctioning Russia.

So they may be putting things gently and in very mild terms to stay friendly, and in contact.
It may have Putin thinking that bluster is all for show, truly its rosy and sanctions will soon to go.

Surely no one in Kremlin is going to tell him in candid terms the poo he has stepped in.

Not a bad tactic to have the militarily strongest country straining at the leash.
It will certainly have them rethinking their intelligence,
as Biden was considered a weak dove, that would settle any deal to stop war.

Pointing out some truths that he is putting himself and regime at risk.
Some things that no one else around him will tell him.

Crudely you could call this good cop bad cop.
Its no loss as you can hardly see Putin negotiating directly with USA and Biden anyway.
USA also has some scores re Putin and the bounties on their troops, and election stuff.

Putin describing himself as an elected leader cos everyone else is dead or in jail... ROTFL

He may not be the greatest of orators, but this reply during a press conference after the NATO meeting last week convinced me Biden speaks from the heart.

A journalist asked Biden if there is any concern within NATO regarding the possibility of Trump being re-elected. Biden answered by explaining why he ran for President.

He had planned on retiring at the end of Obama's tenure.  The primary reason for running again, against Trump, was to prevent Trump from holding office again - the Presidency came second.

I respect that.

Russian tank manufacturer shuts down production (substack.com)

Sanctions really began to prove their worth in war-fighting when the Russian tank manufacturer Uralvagonzavod was forced to cease production this week.  The factory, located in the town of Nizhni Tagil in the Ural mountain range about a thousand miles from Moscow, has more than 30,000 employees and is said to be the largest maker of tanks in the world.

What caused this modern plant to cease operation?  You guessed it:  they ran out of computer chips.  So did another factory in the same town that makes tractors.  They ran out of chips, too.  The modern tank, like the modern automobile, is really just a rolling platform carrying computers that enable it to get from point A to point B.  A standard passenger car can have as many as 30 to 50 different computers managing everything from the temperature and oxygen content of the air its engine takes into its fuel injection system to tire slippage on icy or wet roads.  A high-end car can have 100 computers, and most of them run systems employing sensors that tell the computers what’s going on.

CNN: Donald Trump just can't stop praising Vladimir Putin

...At a campaign rally in Georgia over the weekend, the former President, again, praised Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"...they ask me, 'Is Putin smart?' Yes, Putin was smart. And I actually thought he was going to be negotiating. I said, 'That's a hell of a way to negotiate, put 200,000 soldiers on the border.'"

Trump added that Putin made a "big mistake," but that "it looked like a great negotiation."

...The very next day, Trump said almost the same thing.

"They say, 'Trump said Putin's smart.' I mean, he's taking over a country for two dollars' worth of sanctions," Trump told a crowd at a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago, according to a recording of the event. "I'd say that's pretty smart. He's taking over a country -- really a vast, vast location, a great piece of land with a lot of people, and just walking right in."

Then, in a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference several days later, Trump tripled down. "Yesterday reporters asked me if I thought President Putin was smart," he said. "I said, 'Of course, he's smart,' to which I was greeted with 'Oh, that's such a terrible thing to say.' I like to tell them, 'Yes, he's smart.'"

Well that was a waste of NZD $60,000.

I'm sure you've read this already.

The NLAW has two engines. A small one to get it out of the tube. There's very little kickback. Added bonus you can fire pointing out from a window inside a building without the person launching it getting blasted from the rocket exhaust.

Then the main engine fires some tens of meters away.

Then it arms, so as to not kill the person launching it with the explosion.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/1-shell-hits-military-camp-195015297.html

“A shell hit a temporary Russian military camp near the border with Ukraine late on Tuesday, Tass news agency said and cited a source as saying preliminary data showed it had been fired from the Ukrainian side.”

Not sure if confirmed, but will be first time seen them hit a target in Russia if case, and good intel to know base was there.

Also Biden not rolling back his words in Poland and said he doesn’t care what Putin thinks. Good to see him talking tougher.

Tank production was halted because the factory ran out of ASIC chips. The chips are probably imported.

That's sanctions taking effect.

If anyone expects China's CCP ( the rule by < 6.5% ) to broker peace against their preference for Totalitarianism, Autocracies.

China Praises Russia for Preventing Humanitarian Crisis in Ukraine
https://www.newsweek.com/china-praises-russia-preventing-humanitarian-crisis-ukraine-1693523

""
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi praised Russia for its efforts to "prevent a large-scale humanitarian crisis" in Ukraine, saying that the relationship between China and Russia "maintained the right direction of progress" amid the war in Eastern Europe.

Wang met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Anhui province on Wednesday during Lavrov's first visit to the country since the invasion of Ukraine began last month.
""

So you praise the perpetrator who has steadfastly denied access by aid organizations, evacuations, and attacks civilians.
The sheer industrial volume of indiscriminate rockets and artillery pounding cities to dust.
Destroying millions of lives thrown into poverty and worse.
Nevemind the nonsensical reason for attacking a neighbor that offers no threat apart from a developing democracy.

So we know not to count on China while CCP is in charge.

They're desperately hoping to steer a course down the middle so that they can take advantage of Russia while they're down (so much oil, gas and metals going for pennies on the dollar whilst Russia remains radioactive to everyone else) without also incurring the wrath of the West. I think they were shocked to see just how much pain the West would self-inflict when they got annoyed enough and were hoping that we would ignore the situation (too hard, not our problem!) signalling a willingness to let Taiwan slide too if the chips were down. Now they're not so sure.

We let them get away with Hong Kong because it was only a city full of markets and banks, and we have plenty of markets and banks of our own. But Taiwan makes All The Chips, and we want our chips. And they don't want to lose us as customers either. If Europe is willing to freeze for Ukraine, what might we cut off to spite China over Taiwan?

So hard for an evil dictatorship these days. You just can't please everyone anymore.

If you want to see some Chinese propaganda blaming the US for the Ukraine, check out the English "Global Times" version. The editor's claim its less nationalist than Chinese-language counterpart, so it's more misleading in Chinese.

Wikipedia says "The Global Times is a daily tabloid newspaper under the auspices of the Chinese Communist Party's flagship newspaper...

The publication has been labelled as "China's Fox News" by some scholars and writers for its propagandistic slant and the monetization of nationalism

...In March 2022, during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Global Times promoted unsubstantiated Russian claims of biological weapons labs in Ukraine."

This one's titled by "China-Russia relations the most important strategic asset that cannot be damaged by US provocation"

This one's titled "US support for neo-Nazi group?" with Uncle Sam shaking hands with a Ukrainian Azov regiment soldier. They are at most 0.03% of the Ukrainian soldiers.

Putin ‘Misinformed’ by Advisers on the War, White House Says

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been misinformed by advisers about his military’s performance in Ukraine and the effect of sanctions on his country’s economy, a White House spokeswoman said, citing unspecified U.S. intelligence.

“We have information that Putin felt misled by the Russian military which has resulted in persistent tension between Putin and his military leadership,” White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield said in a briefing Wednesday. “We believe that Putin is being misinformed by his advisers about how badly the Russian military is performing, and how the Russian economy is being crippled by sanctions because his senior advisers are too afraid to tell him the truth.”

From the Bible 1 Corinthians 15

[The Greek philosopher Epicurus promoted the philosophy of living life to its fullest extent. He said] 'Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die'

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character. Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning

For Putin, and the Russian Orthodox Church, it's probably: "Bad company further corrupts bad character"
